  • Obviously you guys have not or can not fly at night. I don't think the point of this was to get the exact scale lighting correct. He is doing it so he figure out the orientation of his heli at night.

Personally brother, you can never have too many lights. I think you have a great start.

  • It looks like a christmas tree!

I've never seen a flying christmas tree!

If you're using LED technology, use it as the original ......

  • llego el circo!

  • DON'T BUY FROM TREND TIMES.COM!Scammers!!!

  • WHY???

  • can u find me now?

  • Looks like a mexican's car. Take them off.

  • Sweet I want to do it to mine

  • bonito arbol de navidad...

  • more like Christmas lights

  • Flying disco? ;)

  • that is awwsum. nice work

  • Was also wondering if you saw any decrease in battery life? But LED's don't use much.

  • Flashlight forever!!! 5*

  • bissschen viele lichter für einen heli

  • Something a mexican would do...

  • pero que

     vuele

  • the new ESKY 3D FLYING RADIO CONTROLLED CHRISTMAS LANTERN ^^

  • 2 many lights looks like damn christmas tree..

  • hmm looks like a christmas tree

  • Heli oder Christbaum ? ? ?

  • Doesn't that affect your battery life? I would just get the night main and tail blades. Looks pretty cool though.

  • All LEDs + resistors together need 0.4 ampere of the 6 volt line. Compared with the motor which can take up to 35 ampere max from the 12 volt line, the power consumption is not much.

The helicopter becomes a little bit heavier because of the extra wires and extra ferrite ring.

  • Cool. Yea I guess LED's don't really use that much battery. Nice set up.

  • navaGAYtion lights

  • haha

  • Here's an idea, go fuck yourself.

  • its christmas yeah xD

  • SUCK WHAT HUH?!

  • do you buy the lights or is it with the helicoper in the box?

  • You have to buy them, theyre not in the box

  • damn lol ...

  • put a led in ther blade, at night it will look like a hula hoop

    =D

  • its to much!!! look like christmas

  • that i saw! hahahaha is true!XD

  • Hi m3lbourn, poor lad. he's just responding correctly and gives all #_relevant_# information. He's not explaning how the photone emission at the p/n-layer (GaAsP) in the LED is taking place? you could write a lot more. So, what do you mean...? :-)

  • That's a Christmas tree .....

  • does that all require extra battery power?

  • Compared to the power consumption of the helicopter itself it's neglectable.

All together the lights use 400mAh. A 2100mAh 3C lipo can power it for 4 hours (considering that a lipo should not be discharged for 100%).

This T-Rex450 helicopter flies +- 8 minutes, so with these LEDs it's a couple of seconds shorter.

  • o, also the thin cables, extra ferrite ring etc add some weight which reduces fly time. But overall it's not much.

  • cool vuelo nocturno!

  • where can i get these?

  • Dannya2572,

These LEDs can be bought at a local electronic shop. I used the brighest LEDs with a 120 degree angle, so it's visible from most directions.

Use the right resistors to reduce voltage from the ESC/BEC to the LEDs, the people in the electronic shop could give some advise about which resistors are suitable.

    It's very cheap, about +- $10

  • i would do the same, thats good for night flying. i bet you cant loose sight of it at night.

  • its a helicopter not a Christmas tree

    but cool

  • HAHA!

  • where can u guys buy LED lights? I couldn't find anyone of them!

    thax

  • LOL NICE

  • very nice lights

  • watch?v=SEc7RUMU6z0

  • look's like christmas tree

  • im down with the too many lights...

  • Way too many lights.

  • noo NOT ENUF LIGHTS

  • the gay wedding is in the helicopter with the lights

  • very nice.reminds me of christmas..LOL

  • Whens the gay wedding?

  • what are you talking about?

  • nice helicopter

  • Very nice.... Are you running these LED's from the LIPO or do you have another battery for them.

  • Thanks,

those LEDs are connected to the ESC/BEC 5 volt line. Some resistors make it 3.8 volt, and 1.8 volt for the red lights.

  • thx 4 the info

  • esta padre como pides los foquitos al comprarlos

  • DOES IT FLY

  • IS that a christmas tree?

  • cool

  • You know, in Holland we have the red light district, with all the womans sitting behind the windows spreading there legs An all next the little red lights

  • i love being there!!!

  • they r christmas lights

  • Too many lights....take two off the tail, and get your colour co-ordination right, otherwise...great job! :)

  • I agree that the lights on the vertical stabilizer fin are a bit useless.

The other lights help a lot during twilight and clouds, during sunny days my new yellow canopy is bright enough to orientate.

In a couple of weeks I'll put up a nice flying movie, a co-worker offered to film with his new high-fps hd camera. I'm looking forward for the 60 fps slo-motion replay of heli flight :-)

  • looking forward to it.....reply to this when its up, so I know when to check.

  • The slow motion video is ready! It's so slow that you can actually see the blades rotating while flying.

Click on my new account name to find the video

  • Cool lights, I wonder if they are more distracting than helpful though

  • you need a videos of if flying! a night or dark with some good music i bet you it will come out real nice!

  • reminds me of xmas......

  • hey dude. this was coooool :D

  • He indoor vlieger,

Heb je nog wat gehoord van Marcel.

Jammer dat we geen andere locatie hebben

    om te vliegen.

    Remco

  • how much you pay for the heli

  • awesome...how much are these

  • These are very cheap, 0.20 - 0.30 euro per LED. I bought them in an electronic shop. Ask vendor for the brightest LEDs and suitable resistors for the voltage. Most of these LEDs shine in an 120 degrees angle.

  • lol, are you sure?!

  • Your christmas tree is beautiful... :) :) :)

  • Troppe... un albero di natale.

  • Does it fly? :-)

    Peter

  • cool, now fly it in the dark :P

  • how u make lights flash? mint vid :P

  • I can only fly in the dark at close range, but don't feel comfortable with it. These lights shine well during the day and twilight, which really helps orientation.

I've disconnected them now, because all the wiring can pick up glitches. The leds are powered by the receiver.

  • Do you get disoriented flying in the dark with these ?

  • The LEDs receive power from the receiver, I used an empty channel for that. That's the same power circuit as the servo's: 5 volt. Each LED has a resistor to to convert it to 1.8 volt (red light) or 3.8 volt (other colors).

The flashing LEDs flash all by themself, they have a tiny IC inside.

It's all very cheap from an electro shop +- 10 eurocent per led.

  • How are you powering them, and making them flash?

  • Awesome! I always wanted to do that on my heli

  • The 'legs' of the LEDs are bend around the frame and landing skids, together with some glue and tape.

  • sorry for the amiture question, but I am so... what did you use to make the lights to stick on to the heli?

  • Very neat. You don't even see the wires towards the lights.

  • The navigation light you make or buy?
