  • How bout his mum is the dragon

  • What episode does his mother die in?

  • thumbs up if u sorta wish magic/sorcery would exist! cuz it would b kl but yet again dangerous but think of it like u can do more tha one thing at a time and more asome stuff

  • cant wait until merlin can reveal his powers !!! >.<

  • @Angelove975 ikr!!!! neither can i!!! but we all know he will not die after either he will be spared or will manage to escape being burnt at the stake

  • Gawd, those cheekbones!

  • @1995Froggy ??? whos

  • wow...did the guy in the next ep seriously call himself "keeper of the unicorns"....?

  • @Lilithly

yeah, but it's not as corny as you think

  • @Lilithly yup

  • god, i am SUCH a psychic. here i was, watching merlin's mum explain that merlin and arthur need each other, when i said "yeaah, it's cos they're two sides of the same coin!" in my usual fangirl-y way, only to have merlin's own mother say the exact same thing.

    win.

  • Ahahaha my brother thought that because both Hunith and the Dragon said the line about the coin, that must mean they're the same person!!!!!! THE PLOT THICKENS, HE RECKONS! lol how can I survive this ridiculous family.

  • oh my god.... Merlin's mother ships ArthurXMerlin..... O.O

  • @time0space0witch she knows a good paring when she sees one ;)

  • @time0space0witch WHO DOESN'T?!?!?!?! ITS LIKE THE CUTEST THING TO EVER HAVE BEEN INVENTED. EVER.

  • I really shouldn't watch the previews, I then just MUST watch another. Keeps me up till 1am now. xDD

  • Why do the good extras always die in series!!! :(

  • does hunith ship merlin/arthur or what :))

  • one of many battles Arther & Merlin will fight togther .

  • i dont get y u guys r saying its not historically correct. this was years before things change it can still be correct ppl will change nothing has happen yet it is too early in their lives

  • Arthur must know the truth by now but he's in denial. Arthur has got to have put 2 and 2 together by now and knows that Merlin is a sorcerer.

  • Me 2

  • Me 2

  • this is a good show! im addicted XD

  • @Okashism ME TOO!!

  • @Okashism Me 2!!

  • Double standard: people calling uthur evil 'cause he won't risk his kingdom(people) to save the village...but calling merlin a hero when he risks the village to save arthur,

  • aww i want Arthur to find out but in a way i think its awesome that he doesnt know. and i love how merlin and arthur really do seem to need each other. this show is awesome i love it.

  • Merlin looks cute in his warrior outfit ;D

  • i wonder, what would happen if Merlin used magic on whatever they use in nukes

  • @ZEXALPHA10 thats uranium.... and i think it would be a very cool... very explosive fireshow

  • @ZEXALPHA10 it would be a VERY direct hit......

  • i love this show......

  • when arthur does find out eventually, he's going to have the same reaction--anger not at the magic, but at merlin's not telling him.

  • I wish @akiwei

  • Isn't the village outside of Camelot? Why should it matter if Will was a sorcerer? Of course he wasn't, but Arthur doesn't know that.... xDD

  • This is such a great show! I'm from Holland, but they don't know it here. We do have the dvdbox I believe, but indeed it should get a lot more attention. The Hills sucks!

:) Love Arthur, he is so naive!

And the show is actually really refreshing. In all those movies of King Arthur and stuff Merlin is very old, but in this show he is the same age, makes it much more interesting.

    Thumbs up!

  • @Savrom1992 I'm also from Holland n_n.

I soo in love with Merlin and Arthur..=3

  • This show is genius! Anyone know more like it?

  • @ytcrazy1 Legend of the Seeker is sort of like this show...I know a lot of people are going to bite my head off at saying that, but I think the shows feel the same--similar time period and lots of magic and magical creatures.

  • goodbye will, i hate when people die in shows and they have to make it worse by saying stuff like i dont want t o die it just makes you feel so much sadder

  • Is it me or does Prince Arthur have a potbelly?

  • @JonasBookLover That's his armor, you wanker xD You should see him when he's shirtless. Far from potbelly.

  • @JonasBookLover it's the chainmail it has to be. After all it is really thick the chainmail.

  • lol there is so much sexual tension between Merlin and Arthur XD

  • Episode 10 is a one big Merthur moment!

  • I'm really getting anoid of him allways having to keep his magic a secret... he saves the day like every episode and never gets the credit

  • @TheLordonhigh thats what being a hero is about, self sacrifice.

  • @girlwriter13 you're right, that ist also true... it just gets on my nerves after sometime

  • @TheLordonhigh thats the part of the show, he has to keep his magic secret or there is no point of making the show

  • @kitana0195 well he would still be able to save everyone even if arthur knew his secret, wouldn´t, he?

  • @TheLordonhigh Now you know why I am personally anoyed with superheroes in general. The reveals take way too long and by then the show/comic/movie/ect. has worn itself out.

  • @Buffy8Fan that's why there's people like hancock

  • @Buffy8Fan its cuz if they reveal at first no one will wach it anymore. its mainly revealing the powers that everyone wants to see. if they keep it til the end it will build some suspense. i understand how u feel but u will just have to wait until he reveals

  • @TheLordonhigh i know but it would b better than dying i guess cuz u dont always need credit its about bravery and courage.

  • Ive seen how much he needs you, how much you need him. And I just became a slasher fangirl!

  • Dragonmother

    =) she is very wise

  • I wanna know Uthers reaction to them all going but they dont show it :(

    <3 Princa Arthur and Merlin

  • Yeesh, non verbal agreements work best. Be noncommittal... sigh or grunt, don't say yes! That's sooooo going to come back to haunt him later.

  • was great Ep! thanks for upload!! <3

  • This is so annoying lol They want us to root for Gwen/Arthur but they keep throwing in these like random conversations, innuendo and meaningful glances between Morgana and Arthur. I mean, I love the ship, but it's like painful when they do it lol because it makes it harder to figure out what the hell is going in their hearts.

Thanks for putting these up by the way. Amazing show!!

  • @drowsygrrl

true, but have you considered all the little nods at arthur/merlin? :P

  • LOL yes. yes, I have. Those are so blaringly obvious, it's kinda cute. I've never been a slash shipper but I'm happy for them that they have so much to work with on this show lmao

  • I don't know. i still see Arthur and Morgana more as siblings that tease and fight with each other.

  • lol....from the moment Arthur said "God have mercy" when Morgana walked into the banquet hall in the first episode, I was never able to go back to believing they had brotherly/sister feelings for one another. You just don't say that about your sister lol

  • The truth is that Merlin and Arthur are secretly gay for each other, because Morgana is actually in a meaningful, lifetime relationship with Gaius, and Gwen has this thing for Merlin's mom that she just can't express.

All of the extra dialogue is just filler to kill time between the dragon scenes.

Oh, secret spoiler: The Dragon is Merlin's bio father. :D Hope that cleared everything up.

  • @AntisepticNoir WHAAAAT? thats a fan fic isn't it?

  • No, in America, it is what's commonly referred to as a joke. *facepalm* lmao

  • *small voice* i am American...

  • Everyone doesn't live in America.

  • That's not the point.

You don't have to live in America to understand sarcasm.

    -_-

    Seriously.

    I are disappoint.

  • @AntisepticNoir hahahahha! I enjoyed it. I def see a love blooming between Gwen and the Mother...its ok Gwen let it all out! Eat the porridge!

  • what a load of bull, far out, that is just delusional

  • In case you missed it,

    It was a joke.

I wonder just how many people are so dinky these days that they think that I could actually be telling the truth when I say something like "Merlin's biological father was a 1000 year old evil dragon."

  • hmm...did u just call me "Dinky"? What is that?

  • Goofy.

  • ahhh...interesting euphemism.

  • @AntisepticNoir I get that it's a joke....but

I'd read that fan fic LOL

  • @Sweetp000433

Sounds like an interesting one, lol, I was just typing away. I've never reaed any such fic. Maybe I'll look it up.

  • @AntisepticNoir No it's not a fan fic, I said

I would love to read that if someone wrote

    it :)

  • Very true. Although I don't ship it.

  • @drowsygrrl I'll explain it to you, Morgana

and Gwen is just a front, Arthur really loves

    Merlin lol.

  • Ouch you shouldn't have kept this from me Merlin way to put pressure on him Arthur XD

  • OMG I love this episode, probably one of my favourites ^^

But they should totally have a musical episode! 8D

Or just have King Uther sing... As long as he sings I'll be happy *swoons* I love his voice!

  • King Uther sing! Wow now I really want to see that.

  • huum..i'm confused.. i thought merlin's mother was a princess U_U..am i wrong???

  • Okay just to clear up the whole race versus history thing, skeletons of african origin have been found in Britain during and since the Roman times, as rightly pointed out by IHereVoices. So it is highly plausible that people of Afircan descent held positions as servants in medieval time. So yeah, race not an issue really, nor is it the director being PC. It would have been racist and incorrect with no black cast members, so y'know...Chill.

  • It's a legend, fable, folklore!!! aka Fiction and open to several interpretations. The aim of these stories was to inspire favoured moral behaviour of those times like bravery, courage & acting honourably. There4 it is actually in keeping with the true aims of the story if producers use it to portray people of other ethnicity favourably

The movie Arthur [2009] portrays Arthur as a Roman Soldier, I bet that's should be more upsetting than a few black characters.

  • How can you tell the skeletons are African?

  • People of African descent have certain bone characteristics that are different to people of say, hispanic descent. Bone markers are different for each person depending on age, sex and race.

  • aaah gay, gay, gay!!

oh my god, i became such a terrible slash-fangirl :) mea culpa

  • @lowtown

It isn't gay until the old lady sings. Which, coincidentally, happened in episode one, so, yeah, I guess it's pretty gay. ;)

  • Where did they get those mountains in the background in the end? I know they aren't too particular about historic accuracy, and that's ok, but please, at least keep it in Britain.

  • it was prob the welsh mountings most of merlin was welsh based like the names so it was just what the hills looked like years ago

    x

  • I thought Camelot was in France?

  • LOL they ALWAYS kill off Joe Dempsie's character.

  • This is such an amazing television series, it derserves much more attention than terrible shows like The Hills which recieve all this fan hype...

  • Because everyone else in the world's IQ has dropped by 100. Think about it, what type of people watch The Hills and think it's "like ohmygod so amazing!"?

  • @Cliquecentrale This is definitely one of the best TV series i've ever seen.. do u noe of any other BBC series that is of the same standard?

  • @Cliquecentrale totally 100% agreed!!!

  • The dragon, episode 1.

  • u know how merlin says someone said the "two sides of the same coin" thing before, who did say it before?

  • come on. It is a show. Enjoy it

  • Awesome, thanks for sharing the Merlin love!

  • Seriously? You guys are complaining about historical consistancy in a show where the main character is a sorcerer who regularly consults with a dragon?

  • tehehe lol

  • I love you for this.

  • @Dragonmage438 Um, i think the dragon is for the very frequint special ocasion, Gaius is who he usualy asks for help

  • The only contradiction to this show that deserves debate is how the sword in the stone concept fits into this version of the Merlin stories. This story would have to stretch pretty far to make the sword in the stone concept really work.

  • @sholmesful

I agree... I wonder how they're going to make that one work out?

  • @sholmesful Well, that is just one version of the myth. Either Arthur got excalibur from the stone or he got it from the Lady of the Lake... who happens to be Nimueh, and I dont see how they're gonna make that fit.

I think it's obvious this series chooses for the Lady of the Lake-version but i'm kinda curious how it will turn out... (Nimueh become good would be nice :3)

  • @RobinNaira Both happened. Merlin creates a fake/lesser sword, which was used to choose the heir. This one broke in a fight against King Pellinor. Nimue held the true excalibur

  • @RobinNaira

In this series it seems they took it far back to the time when Merlin created the sword and put in a lake. Probably so she gives it back later on.

In the myth, the Lady of the Lake gives the Excalibur to Merlin, he lends it to Uther but he becomes greedy for Igraine so Merlin restores it into a stone. Then by the time Arthur was going to become king he got the Sword from the stone.

  • @RobinNaira actually Nimueh, the Lady of the Lake and Morgan Le Fey/Morgana are all the same person in the legend. Kind of like a three fold goddess. Of course since this series was only inspired by the Arthurian legends not based upon them it wouldn't fit. And originally in the legends there were two swords Caliburn/ Excalibur which was given to Arthur by Merlin via the Lady of the lake and as FoieGrass said the sword in the stone which was used to choose the heir. Of course it all depends.

  • @RobinNaira What about the idea in most mythos of Merlin training Arthur to be a good King. This new Arthur seems too arrogant to ever consider Merlin to be a teacher to him. Arthur may one day become his trusted adviser, but not his mentor.

  • @sholmesful think Merlin is teaching Arthur to be a good king. Look at how much Arthur has changed since he met Merlin. It maybe not be direct teacher/pupil training but Arthur is learning about the everyday people he will one day serve and is learning to care and be compasionate for them. By watching Merlin try to help people he is becoming like that too. Less of a prat and more of a caring person.

  • @SohiHien I think he's a prat and a caring person.

  • @sholmesful who

  • @mrpuffle3000 I was talking about Arthur. Sorry for using a pronoun!

  • @sholmesful ok

  • @SohiHien yes u r right but every king and queen will have their arrogance

  • @Dragonmage438 and what kind of argument is that? I consult a dragon every few weeks! He happens to complain about historical consistency of this show as well!

  • @motownazn I guess so. =)

  • @Dragonmage438 :oD :oD dude, you made me laugh so hard! :oD thanx, this realy made my day :oD

  • @Ferbbie Why thank you! Seriously though, I love Merlin. >.<

  • I know you were serious, but if you say it like that, it is even more funny than it really is! :oD I love Merlin too, it is amazing show and you are absolutely right :o)

  • Two sides of the same coin. So true <3

And please, stop bitching about the black people and the lack of blood and enjoy the show :)

  • yeah its very sloppy... forexample when they pierce a sword into someone there is no blood on the sword...

  • but blood would make it innappropriate for young children.

  • thats because its a family enterainment

  • Ok, just because there are black people in the town doesn't mean they were slaves. Where is this supposed to take place? Britain or somewhere around there? I'm sure they could've traveled there on their own...

  • That's what bugs me too- Gwen is black and that would NOT have happened. It's probably the directors trying to be "race friendly" or something.

  • @Roxanneactress Gwen actually looks more Hispanic than Black, anyway.

  • Uhm - no. In the legend, Arthur marries Gwen.

  • She did exist in the legend, her name is spelt Guinevere and she marries Arthur

  • Doesn't mean there weren't any Blacks, just because there wasn't any slavery. This was probably soon after the Romans left Britain, and so Black people could have theoretically gone and settled there.
