  • It wont run as good as it could. You might get slight response issues...Its not going to be major for the slip on, but if you jet it properly vs not, you will notice the difference.

  • rejet means to change the Jets in the carb. There are 2 a main jet and a pilot.

  • I run a K&N and its fine

  • with your slip on did u have to change the jets

  • yes, i forget what I used but I put a dynojet kit in at the same time. With the exhaust you should rejet anyway, you are changing the airflow.

  • I don't know anything about that pipe. I would get a HMF. I love it.

    K&N is a good item, as is a dynojet kit. I also like the K&N power lid.

  • Everything from DG is low quality.. I wouldn't. Also, ask any mechanic, K&N arn't anygood for any off road rider where there is/can be dust. Unless you are ALWAYS ontop of cleaning it and reoiling it, have an Outerwears (I find that pantyhose works better, esspecially when you squart some oil on them too) with a an air box lid... now if your a factory racer, supermotard racer, or over on forgin countries where you can make your street leagal.. but not on the trail. Ask any mechanic, I DARE YOU!!

  • DG isnt low quality?! i have dg nerf bars and a dg front bumper on my 400ex.

  • ahaha.. how long have you had your WONDERFUL DG nerfs? Their bumpers, I must say are pretty nice, but either than those.. there very low in quality and arn't very durible. And their exhausts are just a joke.

  • clammster, sounds great, i have the new 08 400ex it is a great machine hands down , like you, i would like a bit more low and mid for the trails and hills, does the slip on alone give noticable tourque?

  • Yea there is a pretty clear difference.

    However to make low and mid unbelievable drop a 11:1 Piston and stage 1 hotcam in. That really wakes the beast up. I have some updated videos, im just to lazy to post them. Hopefully soon.

  • you will never go wrong with HMF...they are the best pipe you can get for the 400ex...ive got an 04 400ex..and the pipe totally increased my power...and it sounds very deep not all raspy...cool video

  • Yes.

    If you do some research you will find that HMF has one of the best preformance increases you will see. THe drawback is how loud it is.

    If its too loud they make a baffle you can put in that cuts the noise by about 2db. Keep in my 3 db is the 1/2 pwr point.

  • I would love too. Unfortately I have the bike stored at my property and my new job is 300 miles away. So I am getting back less often.

    The bike looks alot different now. Also has a new piston and new cam.

  • track, i took it to a track a couple times when i had it, but i mostly ride in trails now, but skid plates r a must on it, if u dont have em, and u go ridin on some unlevel land, high rised in the middle of the trail, it gets hung up. i hope this was helpful. and i have the hmf ironman exhaust. feel free to ask me questions about whatever u need to know, i may only be 15, but i know a lot about this type of thing.

  • 400ex's r the best for trails, if ure looking for speed the 400ex is the way to go, plus the reverse added makes it even better. i've had a 450r, they don't do well in trails, because if u over turn it into the bushes, u don't have reverse to get out. then u have to get off of it and push it, who wants tht, i have a 400ex right now. i love it, it want let u down on any terrain. i like the 450r for speed or on a

  • Sorry, I tike trail bikes...i have friends with 450r and yzx450......sorry but out of all the times they are tinkering with theres trying to get it started...im out running...

    400 is a great quad.

  • No i want harder pull in mid range without going down on the sproket.

    If I were to buy a 450 i wouldnt go near the kfx... it would be can am, honda, or the yzf... in that order...

    but to each his own...mine exceeds my needs. Its a great bike and reliable... It wont be going in the junk yard anytime soon.

  • Because the real purpose of the video was to see if I could capture a tick from the audio. Since the mic is centered on the camera, it only makes since have it close to the engine! But thanks for taking two minutes out of your life to comment!

  • I got one on a 02 400ex, reallly loud. Def not for sound sensitive areas. Easy enough to throw on the stock pipe and make it whisper quiet so its good

  • dude wat jets did u put in ur carb i have the same exhaust for my 400 and i coan't get it to run right

  • I put a dyno jet kit in and a 40K pilot. What trouble are you having, i bet its something simple...

    my main jet is 145 dynojet...which is a high flow jet...there is a conversion somewhere that tells you what that is equal to stock... send me some contact info and i can try to talk you through it.
