  • the drums are epic

  • One of the best pieces of art in human history?

  • @Rushingclass Agreed mate, probably Opeth's best song in my opinion. Too epic to be true!

  • it sounds like "You" by Radiohead

  • THROUGH THE VAST ENCHANTED FORESSTTT

    YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • Most epic intro ever?

  • God, that section starting around 8:20 is one of my favourite parts in any song ever, it's just a pure masterpiece, the singing, the screaming, the solo, everything.

  • Just the greatest musical track ever created! Thank you so much for posting!

  • nice...upload some audio with cd skips....make a dub-step remix aye? no.

  • @anaemiabag dubstep remix? just NO. You get my downvote.

  • lol

family guy related to opeth. now thats something id never expect.

  • A couple of friends and I played Requiem and the beginning of this song at a school performance and I after the performance everyone was asking what the name of the song was and any songs similar to it, lol.

Opeth are truely the masters of art, not just music.

  • My favorite Opeth song. This was the song that got me into their music, the intro is so other worldly and the rest of the song is filled with different feelings and emotions that get to me everytime... This is a masterpiece of modern music.

  • I first heard this on a Candlelight Records Sampler CD, which had most of their artists on it. This was the first Opeth song I heard and ive never stoped loving them since... Well, maybe after Blackwater Park when they went a bit mainstream, but you know.... Most of their stuff!

  • probably the most underrated opeth song

  • temazo así suena una verdadera guitarra acustica

  • I managed to find a live version of this song! I uploaded it for anyone interested in giving it a listen, it's amazing. Just search for this song live and it should be on the first page :)

  • OPETH REIGN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @DChighQ It's not a crime that you have no taste so it's ok.

  • @BlackRoseImmortal Oh god now a person can't say i don' t like because there are fan boys... and i like Opeth...

  • @PunkAndFun You want to point out to me where I said anyone could not say they don;t like it? You sure are sensitive about a comment that has nothing to do with you. You might want to ease up on the estrogen.

  • @BlackRoseImmortal Yes yes bye.

  • Check out about 3:44 into the song... something is being quietly whispered. I heard someone say he's saying "So Judah fucked it all up", another said "in solitude I wander". I think it's the latter because it would be much more in place and with the style of Opeth than cursing (I mean can anyone point out an Opeth song with language in it other than hell?)

  • @Kevin2341 It is "in solitude I wander"

  • @Kevin2341 He says "in solitude I wander" :P

  • that excellent acoustic intro...and this is an amazing closer to the album indeed. 'orchid' is simply one of the most adventurous debuts,if not albums,of all time. its not about creating 10- minute plus songs.its not about being good on the guitar or any other instrument. its about composing something that comes from the heart, mind and soul.that is what makes this song pure and efficient:)

  • Easily the best Opeth song ever made. The initial first growl is enough to make any metalhead climax instantly; The drumming albeit not the most complex I have ever heard, is absolutely amazing; every beat of the drum sends shivers throughout my body. The guitar, going from mellow and almost medieval peace, to gorgeous chords painting such a lovely picture....All in all, an amazing song, and one that I will remember until the day I die. And will die headbanging to.

  • mind blowing trip of a song

  • Dude, this song is 13 minutes long....I call BLASPHEMY!...the ending is the part man..jeez.

  • 8:40 - 10:10 is so epic O.o

The first time I heard the Album "Orchid" I was like:

"WTF this can't be Opeth" but after listening to each song twice

I finally realized that THIS is great!

  • @F1Quilmes are you gay?

  • Quite possibly the best song ever made, period. Akerfeldt rules

  • Perfection in every note. Opeth know how to compose. This band dominates every other.

  • I love dual guitars! Thanks be to Judas Priest for giving us that blessing! Oh, and hail Opeth!

  • this song gives me a boner!

  • My boner's better...

  • The Apostle in Triumph is sex....

  • FUCK , WHAT A BASS SOLO!!!

  • around 7:30 shit gets awesome

  • fuck yeah ending solo is the best solo ever

  • Imo orchid was their best album next to Blakwater Park. Although, I loved the Roundhouse Tapes. ;P

  • Thanks for this!

  • i nearly came at the growl at 6.46

  • omg...this is fucking incredible...definitely the best band ever....hail opeth!!!!

  • great Opeth creation.

  • The song actually starts at 1:29

  • ehhhhhh no. the songs starts correctly.

  • no, if you do your research, the TRACK starts at the very beginning, but the publisher fucked up; this was intended as the second section of 'requiem', and then the song 'apostle in triumph' was actually begun at where 1:29 happens to be in this track. they screwed up the tracks, essentially.

  • yeah, but the beginning is sooo tight :-D

  • If I saw Opeth live just once I could die happy...

Theres not a single song that I wouldn't kill to see live.

Good thing I missed them when they were literally 80 miles from my house... My dumbass friend forgot to tell me. How the fuck do you forget about an opeth concert!?

  • fucking damn straight man. i would 'NEVER' forget about an opeth concert, it'd be the highest thing on my list of priorities.

and i agree every song live would fucking kick ass. imagine if they busted out a grand piano nd played silhouette xD

  • opeth, you guys are the opeth'est opeth to ever opeth the damn opeth.

  • Yeah I think they're pretty opeth too.

  • @1787dude dude you should stop listening to opeth and reading the smurfs at the same time ;)

  • @maggotfrom1993 lmfao i have mixed manic episodes so i probly have read smurfs and listened to opeth at one point or another, im gonna go listen to necro, or maybe anal blast and see how it syncs up with the old carebears movie lolzzz

  • still day beneath the sun is amazing song tho..jus chk it out..

and also patterns in the ivy 2...

    akerfeldt is a genius...!!

  • carrots. chopsticks. celery. candles. cactus's. crepes. smont.

  • I'm here again, Blackrose. If you want an MP3 to re-post the video without skipping, I have a very high-quality one.

You would probably be wiser to split the song at 8:23, as it's more of a transition than the 10:00 slot is.

  • the intro of this song is actually the ending of Requiem..... they said it was some kind of mix up...

  • this song is the sicest composition ever!

  • If you take the "Quite Possibly" out of the description this video will be perfect ;) Always nice to meet someone who's fav song is also TAIT, easily their best song ever no contest. It's completely epic, the length, the lyrics, the vocals, hell they even pull out a fucking violin. What I liked about their old stuff is the drumming was extremely simple yet effective. The drumming isn't anything too crazy like in most death metal, but it definitely flows well with the music.

  • i think the violin sounds are volume swells

  • Heavy reverb effect maybe...At least it does get a sound like that in Black Rose Immortal

  • @kratos015 Lol there is no violin, its called a volume swell. You pick a note on the guitar with the volume knob turned down, then after the note is picked you turn the volume up and then back down, makes the violinish sound. Very neat.

  • One of my FAVORITE songs and album. OPETH

  • The intro turns me into a drooling blob of seizures caused by epicness.

  • Comment removed

  • in the last bit ....

    it stops ...

    wtf.

its like ur mum catching you while ur masturbating

  • hahahahaa that was an awesome comment

  • lmao

  • @Adastra14 are u talking about the break at 1,25?

  • Honestly, event hough the beginning is supposed to be part of requiem, I like it A LOT better as an intro to this song.

  • Good stuff - love how this song ended CURSE THE 10min rule! was in the middle of the good stuff

  • Well, there is a second part...

And Blackrose, it doesn't sound to me like there's any audio skips...it is the same length as the album version.

  • Oh there are skips, heh. I've carried this cd around with me for so long and played the hell out of it, so yeah it's a little beat up. I did clean it up as best as I could before putting it on here. And yes for those who have a hard time reading I did put the second part up, just click the "more info" tab. And there goes one skip 3:03 and another around 3:22. Ah well.

  • @BlackRoseImmortal doesn't matter.it is still an amazing song in its essence:)

    thanks for posting:)

  • For those of you who don't know, the beginning of this song is actually the ending of "Requiem", the song listed before this on the album. It was a mishap in the editing process. Funny fact:)

  • woooooooooooooooooooow

    very funny fact

i kind of imagined that, but not for sure

  • this was the first opeth album i ever bought a few years ago.

its still one of my favorites.

opeth will take over the world

  • orchid is really different than any other album, but it is kind of mesmerizing, slow and piercing, but i really find Apostle the gem not only in this album nor the Opeth discography, but in the whole realm that music is.

  • I would kind of agree about Apostle, and pretty much do agree, but in the past few months I have discovered "Still Day Beneath The Sun".......just another incredible Opeth song. Very hard to own, but you can find it easily here on youtube. Check it out if you never heard it.

  • @BlackRoseImmortal Still day beneath the sun is just too good XD but what about hope leaves? IMO that song is really amazing cant stop listening to it lol

  • @mirsadjs alot of the stuff on the orchids album from opeth is actually from there demo before they were signed

  • damnation :D

  • the voice coming from abaddon ,epic! Love this song ,that band!

  • Orchid imo is the best Opeth album. I can't understand why some people dislike it or view it as the weakest album.

Every single song is beautiful, dark, and atmospheric. Its also definitely heavier, so if you like the soft opeth, shy away fool, because this is opeth at its roots.

  • Personally, I can't say I favor any albums (except Blackwater which I started listening Opeth with so it's my heart album :P) but I can't say about any album that it's the weakest and I didn't hear anyone saying Orchid isn't great. For me, at least, every album is a masterpiece of it's own, even if "new stuff has to many clean vocals :/" their breakouts are even more juicy :P And, if you don't like the soft Opeth, you don't like half of Opeth... I can hardly wait to see them on 17th of july!

  • I'm seeing them 4th of May. Will be my first time \,,,/

They are touring with some band I never heard of :(

  • Are you talking about Enslaved? Heh, they're pretty known and pretty good, progressive black metal or something, they're ok to watch live :)

    Have fun ;)

  • I saw them live 4 times, and soon a fifth in may :D

Orchid is a great album btw, they all are!

  • to be honest, i think orchid was the best album opeth ever made. simply incredlby progressive death metal, new stuff has to many clean vocals :/

  • so how much of this song was actually part of Requiem?

  • I don't think any, the beginning wasn't at least, I didn't listen to the rest of the video song, but the real song is 13:01

  • does anyone tabbed the intro...before 1:30?

    ^^

  • Amazing

  • I guess, the work should be well done . Not only when mastering, that, is when the problem occurred, so Requiem came as a part of Apostle in Triumph . So you should place it after 1:30 minutes . But, still this is a masterpiece of Opeth, my preferred album .

  • This was the song that got me into Opeth. The ambient quality in the song is unmatched, and the end with the solos is just unbelievable. I think Orchid was a good album apart from the production value..

  • 8:30 is bliss...

I was pleasantly surprised by the rest of the album, now that I finally have the whole thing collected online. So atmospheric.

Frost is a lost art nowadays.

  • Maybe their best song. Those difones and the scales they use, the feelings which chnge through the song all the time. Happy to sad and evil... This song is a portraite of art. I actually prefere their work in their 1st album. Its the album with the most skilled songs

  • i love this song!

  • this song is simply beautiful

    beyond the words

    amazing

    so epic

i love this, the beginning and the end . .

  • My only favorite song from their first album.

    A beautiful piece!

  • what about weeping moon?

  • The beginning of The Apostle in Triumph was supposed to be part of Requim but got mied up in production. Therefore this song does not really start until ''1.30''.This is a fact ,I'm not shitting you.

    Yeah for old opeth!

  • there was a problem with the mix but there never was a Requiem. This was supposed to be the beginning of The Apostle In Triumph but it was cut out accidently during the mixing and they called it Requiem. =)

  • I see ;-)

  • i love their old stuff. i also like their new stuff, but their old stuff has this unique feel to it, and i love it.

  • 6:36 pure evil solo

  • just listened to this in my car, a very good tune, i love the opening!

  • What's with the song order? my Orchid album has the following tracks...this is the order...

    1. In Mist She Was Standing

    2. Under The Weeping Moon

    3. Silhouette

    4. Forest Of October

    5. The Twilight Is My Robe

    6. Requiem

    7. The Apostle In Triumph

why is it here on the back cover Under The Weeping Moon as 4th song? it is a copy mistake or there is a different edition?

  • Hmmm, you got me I grabbed the pic off the web, don't remember where either. That is odd, must just be a different issue. It looks like it's the back of an actual vinyl album cover though. Were the vinyl covers any different? I looked around but coudln't find any listing of all the different release covers.

  • Dude, i love your name.. Thanks for posting this song, its not among their best but it brings back memories.

  • there's a reissue.

    mine's got an 8th track:

8_into the frost of winter.(it's a poor quality add-on ...nothing to get excited about)

  • GODLIKE!!!!!!!!

  • thank you so much for finally posting this song. i cant believe someone hasn't done it before

  • great great song

  • this song is fuckn amazing is mi favorite of opeth!

  • SO GLAD YOU ADDED THIS!

I cannot find Orchid anyway (I've checked so many stores) and the only tracks off of it I could find online where The Twilight is my Robe and Under the Weeping Moon.

Until now. This is awesome. Thank you so much.

  • I'm pretty sure you buy Orchid on iTunes.
