This is brilliant. It's a great transition from print - Digital Interactive Magazine experience must remain consistent with the real experience. See how we innovated a new way of delivering the experience for Prestigious Venues Magazine.
breaking all the rules? reinventing the way consumers interact with magazines? please. this doesn't look that different than what's existed online for a decade with the exception of a touchscreen interface!
"There's a revolution going on right now in the way that people consume journalism. One thing that we've been great at doing is telling stories... This is just adding one more avenue of communicating and connecting with the brand of Wired... We really would like to offer more choices to our readers and to our advertisers and move beyond just the static notion of ink on a piece of paper." ~ Scott Dadich (Creative Director, WIRED)
iphone did not fail because people wanted to combine portable music with phone capabilities. IPAD will compete with readers. I will not play music through the Pad like the Pod and will not desire to make calls through an e reader. Iphone v Ipad equal 2 different uses. My opinion is that the IPAD is going to be lackluster with out Flash. And now I hear HULU might make is available on the Pad at a cost?! not worth it.
@bizmax If hulu creates an app or updates their website than it will not cost money. Also, iPad is made for music and other multimedias so it has GREAT speakers. If you have a bluetooth headset you could easily talk on it like you would with a phone. Not to mention it blows everything else out of the water when it comes to e reading capabilities.

good tech. the tech will promote the purchase of the hardware. hardware will now have to compete and produce wanted goods. ipad will fail if it does not include flash because of the economics of print in need of this to work. print will be forced to support devices that work.
@xleo21 no they're not. Have you noticed that iPhone sales have done nothing but gone up since it first came out. Also notice how wired rewrote their app just so that they could use it on the iPad... and it's nothing but better and faster than if they used Adobe Air.
About the wired app , ironically it was still made with an adobe tool (for creating rich content for tablet ,etc) , however how can you know this one would be better than the flash app? flash allows designers to really expand their skills because of the easyness of flash , not to mention it wouldve been ready way faster
Flash is useless on touch devices as the animations usually require a mouse, in order to interact. IPAD is TOUCH, applications are better than websites in general.
I think it is too early for this '' revolution '' in books. Not enough People own a touchpad big enough to have the same experience then reading a A4 magazine. This might be a great project for the future but not for now.
Cool. I guess. Besides the obvious question of whether people will pay for something which is not that much different from the web, will it work on the iPad?
The iPad is specifically mentioned at about 0:16. But there is the whole thing about Flash not working on the iPad so Apple and Adobe need to play nice together.
I think it's worth mentioning that Adobe CS5 will support the ability to directly export interactive Flash files into .ipa executables without the need for software interpreters. it will be natively running on the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad.
Great, now we even can illegally download magazines. It´s not good for the market to digitize everything. It enables a acces for pirates to things they formerly had to pay for.

Rewriting your flash website /component to support touch it's easier than rewriting the whole thing in html5.
But yeah , apps > flash.

But it was never so easy to consume and publish them. Also, theres a difference between a scan and a real copy that includes all functions.
