I'm renting this car this summer in Spain... well, I requested this particular car, but they can't guarantee a particular car, only a category of cars, so I may be driving an S class Mercedes or 7 series BMW instead... but I defenitely hope for the Jaguar XJ.
The reason for renting the top-of-the-line vehicle is (1) safety for my family and I, as I recall horrible driving conditions in Europe, (2) comfort, impossible to get automatics in Europe, and (3) just because bigger IS better... yes.

Most people say that, all the old Jag's "Look like shit" which is a gross and childish mis-interpretation, I for one go with both styles, this new XJ looks lovely, especially in pure black with the ceramic pillar at the back.
And the technology is space age, our family have owned 3 Jaguars and none of them have had the so called "Problems" most of you BMW salesmen talk about. I mean, they're built in the same factory as the damn Spitfire. Here, in ENGLAND, not INDIA.

as a previous jag owner (my last xjl had 212,000 miles on it) i was a little shocked by the new one, but after a few of these videos and getting to see and drive one, i was hooked! I love it's looks, and so must others as I get compliments on it all the time. I've owned one for 4 weeks now, and besides being all that it is advertised, it truly is a "driver's" car, also. the service we've received from the jag dealers in atlanta thru the years has been second to none.
I have an XF which I love, but this is a more successful design to me. I can't understand those who hate the back. It's so much more distinctive than the bland German lumps. I followed one down the M11 last week and it looks fantastic on the move. Mine has the same V6 271bhp diesel and it's a fantastic engine, huge power and silky smooth. I hope this is a huge success. God knows the country needs to export.

@Southiedesi, well its the jag build quality and engines that make it what it is and thanks to tatas investment its a dream combination. The XR and now the XJ have overtaken the German competition, no mean feat, so hopefully world domination beckons. Ford really didnt develop the brand properly, instead of looking to the past for instance, the S type. But its all so different now lol
@Southiedesi Ford was a massive problem and effectively forces Jaguar in directions it should have moved away from years ago. The management in the UK wanted to speed up model renewal and push forward a much more modern design philosophy but Ford wouldn't let them. The X-type was the last straw. All these ideas aren't new but it they had to get away from Ford in order to set their own path. TATA largely lets Jaguar/Land Rover make it's own decisions under very light guidance from TATA.
@TheSaintST1 What is significant is that TATA has looked further forward than Ford was willing to do, take up the ideas that Jaguar were proposing and provide the financial 'muscle' to push things forward. The UK teams have now put together something vey special, and it would be great to see some of this eventually implemented onto Tata's own models. I know a lot of work is done at one of Tata's technical centre's in the UK, so I wouldn't be surprised if more collaboration will result in cars...
@TheSaintST1 to rival VW in terms of design and quality. It's all good- hopefully as the UK teams develop more, and a strong technology base expands - especially in 'green tech', we should start to see more exciting things happening.
IMO the X-Type was just a vehicle (no pun) to keep the ex-Escort production line at Halewood employed. if Ford had laid them off, it would have looked very bad for them.
If you compare the S 600 to the new XJ the with a S/C V8. they both have 510 hp. If you look at the fuel economy. The S 63 gets 11 city/17 highway. Meanwhile, the Jaguar XJ gets 16 city/23 highway. The car is stunning, super quick, efficient, well made, and so on... the only thing I miss is the leaper on the hood. LOVE the "NEW" Jaguar

Helping to save and continually expand the British economy, trading abroad and keeping the profits in the UK. Tata simply own the majority shares.

The economy is now worldwide. India will catch up, it will and will surpass China, USA etc.. I am sure of it!

when british own Jaguar ..it was not capable to compete with Merc or BMW .. but that history has changed...Now this car is a great revel for Merc and BMW & Audi because Indian Re imaged the old Jag to the BIG JAG. If you look at he Engilsh Automotives nothing have perform sucessfully, Enfield Motorcycles, Bristo Helicopter, Rolls Royces, Bently are either shuted down or taken over by others. Just tell me WHY ?

@sandalveda Because they lacked funding to compete.....now they have funding they can compete.....Jaguar is designed in Britain and by British people...TA TA just gives it financial backing...I work for Jaguar and there is no Ta Ta involvement in the production of cars they leave it to us to do...because we know best.

However, i said British management failed to position that car, that means ...that management's marketing strategy failed in marketing that product. And the old jaguar is history. Now it is renounced as BIG JAG !!! Which is capable to compete with Benz, BMW or Audi A8. British Automobile units are not doing good, is an undeniable fact.

it´s a shame, jaguar lost his looks, this car lost the jag style, the jags used to be very special cars "really and truly pieces of art design". the old xj body was one of the best car designs ever, one of a kind, and now is lost.

Things were'nt this smooth few months back.......this is from a news paper few months back " Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) new Indian owner Tata Motors continues to invest in and makes plans for its newly acquired luxury division despite what has so far been a very poor return on investment.
JLR posted a $1.11 billion loss last year but that won’t stop Tata from making big changes"

@Southiedesi, well its the jag build quality and engines that make it what it is and thanks to tatas investment its a dream combination. The XR and now the XJ have overtaken the German competition, no mean feat, so hopefully world domination beckons. Ford really didnt develop the brand properly, instead of looking to the past for instance, the S type. But its all so different now lol

@Southiedesi Ford was a massive problem and effectively forces Jaguar in directions it should have moved away from years ago. The management in the UK wanted to speed up model renewal and push forward a much more modern design philosophy but Ford wouldn't let them. The X-type was the last straw. All these ideas aren't new but it they had to get away from Ford in order to set their own path. TATA largely lets Jaguar/Land Rover make it's own decisions under very light guidance from TATA.

@TheSaintST1 What is significant is that TATA has looked further forward than Ford was willing to do, take up the ideas that Jaguar were proposing and provide the financial 'muscle' to push things forward. The UK teams have now put together something vey special, and it would be great to see some of this eventually implemented onto Tata's own models. I know a lot of work is done at one of Tata's technical centre's in the UK, so I wouldn't be surprised if more collaboration will result in cars...

If you compare the S 600 to the new XJ the with a S/C V8. they both have 510 hp. If you look at the fuel economy. The S 63 gets 11 city/17 highway. Meanwhile, the Jaguar XJ gets 16 city/23 highway. The car is stunning, super quick, efficient, well made, and so on... the only thing I miss is the leaper on the hood. LOVE the "NEW" Jaguar
