  • Why didn't you just use a relay?

  • So where does the switch come in? All you said is that you have one. Which wire do you run the the switch?

  • Do u have to turn the swith off nd on everytime u use the stereo..or can u just leave it on?

  • @toluca206 yes you have to turn it off and on every time you restart car

  • did you find a dash kid?

  • hey i got my pioneer and it got two wires one yellow/ black and one orange/white what are those cables for? and wich one can i use for do bypass

  • Do you have to turn off the switch every time you get out of ur car?

  • now is the parking brake wire on the top or bottom of the wire harness?

i bought a used 3100 with the parking brake wire and reverse camera wire missing

  • Awesome video, and thanks for the help. You should check out seller radonich1 on eBay or my videos for parking brake bypasses that work with all newer Pioneer, JVC, Sony, Clarion, and Eclipse radios.

  • y do some ppl use a relay when u can just use a switch?, plz e-mail me back

  • can i play videos of my USB? if so what kind of format do the videos have to be?

  • @FromThe3PointLine Im sure you can, i haven't tried it personally but you might wanna try AVI format that might work let me know if it does thanks

  • Hey did you have to mod the dash of the f150 to be able to fit the double din in there? If so what did you do because I heard that there's stuff back there preventing from fitting a double din in the dash.

  • @DivintyOFDeath ya there is some plastic back there that you have to trim off in order for the radio to go all they way in, so if you shave that then it will fit..

  • hi im wondering wer did u get the ground that u connected to the harness from the stereo

  • @1993casillas I got the ground from the harness that you buy to connect to your trucks main harness..

  • it worked! thanks just like the video said make sure you put your switch where you can access it

  • or after you cut the green hand brake wire with the orange tag, do you use the free end to the wire from the switch

  • so the red wire from the switch goes to a green wire from harness ? is the green wire from the stock harness already cut?

  • Clipzin is right, you can use a relay and not worry about an external switch.. Which is way better. Plus fail was written all over this bloomed soon as I saw you using tape for connections.. Super fail.

  • Did this method and it worked like a charm. Did it for the avh- 4300 dvd.

  • This Worked EASY and Perfect! Thanks!!

  • This looks easy! Thanks!

  • How can I watch video from my iPhone 4 on this stereo?

  • Why did you do it this way...I used a relay 10x's more easy.

  • if i have a standard car(not automatic) will i still need the bypass thing?

  • @BigThangsPoppinMayne Yea you would still need to bypass

  • So hard. In JVC DVD headunit you just must connect the "handbrake" line in to ground. No any schwitces needed.

  • how hard is it to get that big ass head unit in a f150 like that?

  • @iwanaGoFast2010 not for sure had a place called custom sounds do it but it took them all day.

  • switch for $5 ? I got a relay for $2 and it does all the work without me having to use a switch and fuck! I just realized we have the same truck lol.

  • i have a question, i have not 'plugged or attached' my hand break wire (lime color one) anywhere i just let it alone and my radio works just fine. is there something im unaware of that could evertually break due to that?

  • @Glowystuff This is so that you can watch DVD and AV videos while driving. It's a hack.

  • just buy a bosch relay and connect it.

  • maybe if i try a different ground connection would help??

  • @DAYBEON well you could but the best ground you can get would be from your harness. now the radio wont figure out your bypassing your just grounding it. if you tried rewiring the ground and still dont work there might be something wrong with radio. or you can try a relay theres other videos on that if you would like to try that

  • @kaos08productions i have a pioneer avh 3100, it wirked before but know it dont and i used toggle switch

  • @DAYBEON i would check the wiring again make sure theres a solid connection still.

  • I have this radio, bypassed the brake with toggle switch. It worked for about a year, now when i put in a dvd i hear sound but the menu screen with skip & all that comes up with the little red circle with a line thru it. Any ideas what could've happened. Its almost as if it now knows its bypassed

  • i did everything correct but when i shut my car and then try again, all i hear is sound...no video.. help please

  • @DAYBEON what kind of radio do you have? did u put a switch or did you just ground wire?

  • You can bypass without the switch.

  • @trumpetslayer92 on pioneers you cant. you need a switch or relay

  • kool....now its working....video is playing now....but where does the brown wire "tel mute" connect to?

  • Comment removed

  • hey, i just bought me a nice cd/ dvd deck. i hooked up all the colors wires and all, and the music works fine, but the video from dvd will not go on. it reads something like "HANDBRAKE"....any suggestion what shall i do? plus after hooking up all the wires, i have two extra wire, its the "hand brake" and "tel mute" wires. where do the connect to?

  • @1khenn ya you need to ground that handbrake wire to the ground wire on your harness.. now depending what kind of brand you have you may need a switch or relay.. but just ground it first and if that works then you dont need a switch..

  • hey do i have to buy the switch or does it come with it

  • @superkhicks you have to buy one

  • if you hook the green park brake wire to the radios ground wire it will not work. you will still get the error message or warning. you have to use either a relay or a toggle switch. if your doing the brake wire to ground then you arent doing it with a pioneer and most likely a lesser brand flea market radio.

  • Thanks it worked on my 4200!

  • your retarded this video is useless all you have to do is ground the parking break wire its the same for every screen ever made pretty much

  • Quick and easiest to do instead of relay!!!!

  • does it come with navagation ?

  • couldn't you just solder the green cable to the ground cable?

  • so youre driving, recording a video, narrating a video, and watching a movie all at the same time....

  • I PUT IN A TR7 RELAY WHICH IS MUCH EASIER

  • I have this radio, bypassed the brake with toggle switch. It worked for about a year, now when i put in a dvd i hear sound but the menu screen with skip & all that comes up with the little red circle with a line thru it. Any ideas what could've happened. Its almost as if it now knows its bypassed

  • does it have navigation

  • @runforit02 no

  • it has navigation right?

  • Do you have an F-150. looks like it. What year?

  • @runforit02 oh nevermind i didnt see the description. nice you have the same truck as me so it will work. thanks, helped alot.

  • @runforit02 ya no problem

  • tie the parking wire to the ground from the radio stop makin it so difficult

  • Hi, thanks for sharing your video!. I´m just looking for a PIONEER AVH-3100DVD, too. So the question is, if you can use the USB to watch a movie instead a regular DVD / CD,

    Thanks in advance!

  • im stupid for asking this but what goes to the black wire?

  • toggle switch for broke ass niggas

  • all you have to do is wherever you go to get your stereo installed tell them before you buy it you want the brake bypass and they will do it for you trust me they want your money so save your time and have the pros do it

  • just got a Pioneer AVHP3100DVD install in a 05 tiburon and when i turn the vol up after a min in the CD the vol stars to go low what could that be ??

  • @jeliquin85 .........yes

  • perfect explanation

  • this is only necessary for manual cars correct? or this must be done with auto also?

  • Would this work for the Pioneer AVH-P5200BT also? i would assume so but just want to make sure.

  • hahahah Thats crappy. Dont get a switch get a 12v 30a Relay.

  • hey if you put this directly to ground do you still need a switch ?

  • Man ppl still using tape for 400 dollar plus stereos. invest in some crimpers and spend 2 bucks on a package of connectors...

  • @progamerIII

If you got ur self a $400 plus stereo i say solder and shrink wrap. Connectors are lame and cheap still they have too much resistance compared to solder.

  • @progamerIII i know right

  • so i installed a 3100 in my 04 350z i did exactly what this shows.. same switch it worked for 2 weeks and one day i tried to play a dvd and i got only no dvd, could i have blown a fuse or what, if the wire came lose it would throw a warning screen but i never see that screen anymore either any clues or ideas?

  • @miikeeec is this video for what i think it is? Are u guys trying to watch a movie while driving? If so, why dont you guys just get it installed for free at the stereo shop when u install the stereo? They can do that for you guys included in the installation charge

  • good info for us nb! questions... why not cut and splice grnd wire? is there a difference bet tapping or splicing the grnd wire? anybody got any info how to bypass soundstream vir7860? i grounded pink wire but all i get is 10sec of vid then all i get is audio..

  • i will be trying it out tomorrow or the next day, post a reply then so check back soon!

  • omg losers just conect the green wire to the ground(black) wire and tape it easy as that!!!

  • Won't work on many newer players. You have to put your car into park, into something else, adn back into park for it to work. Hence, the switch. Fool it your in park, fool it your not, and fool it you are again.

  • wrong. the parking break is a pulsed ground and the regular black ground isnt. the best way to do this is to use a relay. no switches needed. its about 6 bucks at the auto parts store.

  • that works?

  • have you done this and it worked?

  • That works with the AVIC series, but the AVH units require a change in state in order to operate. So either a relay or a manual switch has to be used. I prefer the relay method myself.

  • yes it works 100% i had my dvd player i the car about one month with no movies working.. Then i learned that trick and now it still works!! give it a try..to bad i live in norway or i would do it for ya .. i can make a video about it if you guys want ??

  • yo dude you can ghetto rig the ipod connection for about 15 bucks just use a usb externsion cable and a audio cable that is male on both ends (both availible at walmart and plug your ipod sync cable for your computer to hook it to the usb extension and plug the male end opposite the head to your ipod and bamm your in business

  • what i dont kno what to do when i burn a dvd iwith out the divx it says unreadable disc but in my ther head unt it use to work fine...does any one recommened something on this

  • i just hooked mine up an hour ago and thought i had a bad splice until i realized that u have to get a switch in line. a permanent ground doesnt work it has to be an on off action while the unit is on... how gay is that?

  • all you have to do is get the handbrake wire and connect it like its a ground

  • If you connect the hand break wire from your head unit and connect directly to ground. It will act the same way ;)

  • yup thats what i did...

  • what is the switch called

  • @yungngangsta911 it's called a toggle switch

  • is it possible to just ground the green wire instead of worrying about the switch?

  • no....it will not work that way but if you want a better way than this one without having to use a switch watch the "avh-p4100dvd bypass" video.

  • k thx

  • will this trick work with a 3 prong switch?? if so do i need to do anything different then what u did in the video?

  • Damn i hate people that wonder why you want to watch a video while your driving. Maybe for passengers you idiot.

  • I still wonder why you would be watching a movie while you're driving

  • Comment removed

  • hey, i just installed the avh-p4100dvd into my car and used your bypassing method. it works (thanks for that) but for some reason i can't get it to play videos of my ipod, only the audio is played and a black screen appears. dvd work though. what do you reckon?

  • i got the same problem.

do you know what's the reason of it ?

    thanks

  • ya i couldn't either but before i could even try to mess with it my truck got broken in to and they took my screen.. so im sorry i couldn't help you.. but ask around online you should find a solution or if i find one i'll let you know but sorry about that..

  • If you click demo and then audio/video setting, and from there you can change the setting of you video to ipod, video 1-2, aux, etc. I hope this will help you out.

  • thanks i'll give that a try

  • That should work, and if you need step by step how to set everything up just let me know, I'll be happy to help you out man.

  • likewise

  • did you buy the special cable for ipod video?

  • yup. i got the cable and connected it to the aux and the usb ports like was instructed. still no luck

  • go to your source screen and turn the p4100 off...then it will go to demo mode....then, touch the screen anywhere and you will get the av option menu option on top right....then touch the initial option and set your aux-1 to ipod......then press escape and turn your p4100 back on and presto!!!!!.........worked for me hope it works for everyone. i know there are several people who have this problem.

  • How do you turn of you head unit, with the of button that is? Anytime i press the off button it goes to demo mode. So how do i turn of the head unit and be able to drive with ignition on?

  • i stated in my comment that when you turn it off it will go into demo mode.....you cant turn it off with the ignition on....it only goes into demo mode but you can press display button and turn the screen off with only the button lights lighting up..hope that helps

  • press and hold the mute button while its in demo mode. it will beep and it wont go into demo mode again.

  • I have a avh-3100dvd, Anyone interested in a portable hard drive that works with this stereo, I spent alot of reasearch to be able to format the drive to fat32 to be compatible. Normally with windows this is not possible on a drive over 32 GB.

Let me know if you are interested, I have pictures.

  • You cut the green hand brake wire, then connect it to the switch. Then what wire did you connect to the gorund wire? help please, thanks

  • he conec the black wire the comes with the switch

  • You plug up from the switch, the the radios ground wire.

  • Is it possible to hook up an ipod to the rear of this radio rather than use the usb port on the front ?

  • i don't think so, i was really disappointed when i bought the ipod adapter and i still had to hook it up threw the front... now the 4100 DVD has a usb on the back of the radio so i might be upgrading my radio to that model... i hope this answers your question.. thanks

  • there is an aux input in the back, its two RCA ports left and right so u would need to get rca to 3.5mm jack cable. Also you wouldn't be able to control the ipod with this method only get playback.

  • how impoortant is that switch you installed? can i just hook the green wire from the stereo directly to the ground and have the dvd player work all the time?

  • it will only work once and then the radio will require you to switch on and off of the handbrake, if you turn off your car or even switch the source.... which is why you have to put a switch.. so you can have that constant off and on ground every time you switch sources. i hope that makes sense...

  • makes perfect sense thanks a lot, i tried it and got pissed off every time it was working and when i shut off the car , outit all back together and it didnt work anymore haha, i just put in the switch anyways

  • lol ya that was the first thing i did but found out i needed a switch....

  • I have some questions. I want to connect a two prong toggle switch to my Pioneeer AVH-3100DVD player just like you have in this video. I'm kinda confused about how you have your wires connected. Do I connect the Pioneer harness parking brake wire (green) and Pioneer harness ground wire (black) to the two prong switch or is there another way that you have to do this installation?

  • The parking brake wire has to see ground. So put the green wire on one side of the switch and ground on the other. On a simple two pin switch it doesn't matter which side you hook either wire to. Or use a 5 pin double throw relay from your lical radio shop, like I posted below. P.S. the bottom pin is 30.

  • sup dude it looks like u put your radio in a f150. i have one too. that i want to install real soon i have a 02 f150 did u have to cut out a metal frame from in side the dash to install in yours

  • ya i have an 01 f150.. i had a place called custom sounds do the install.. they had to shave some of the frame off.. i spent about 150 for the install they soldered my wiring harness to..but the good thing about it, is that you can put any 2 din deck later on..

  • have had issues with double pulse timers not working all the time.

  • What's the DVD you are playing around 2:32? It looks like I saw Shia LaBeouf. Is this movie "Eagle Eye"? I can't wait to try this myself. Thank you for posting this video. I have added it to by favorites!

  • ya it is "Eagle eye" ya i hope my video helps you out.. just let me know if you need help thanx for watching..

  • I'm an ass, I was wrong you have to hook up a 5 pin double throw relay. Hook ground to 85 and 87 and amp turn on wire to 86 and the parking brake wire from radio to the bottom pin (cant remember number) this will work exactly the same as the switch but it will do it automatically, and all you have to do is hit ok on the radio.

  • P.S. Get rid of the tape and use butt connectors or solder in a straight line. You can pick up a double pulse timer from almost any radio install shop.

  • Hook up a double pulse timer to your ignition, and when you turn on your ignition to your vehicle it will send a double ground pulse to the radio parking brake wire. No need for a switch.

  • Will this method work on my AVH-P4100DVD? Good video.

  • yes it should... there pretty much the same just the 4100 has a bigger screen
