I just watched the interview with Letterman, he's a bit of a twat.. being a complete asshole to Tarantino. Rove however, know's how to put on an entertaining interview!
I recently watched the Emergency Room episode that Quentin directed and there's a scene where two women eat a pizza and chat about stuff. I bet the actress he's talking about is one of them.
anyone notice how in the ocean 11 movies brad pitt is constantly eating? Ironic that he starred in a movie directed by someone who says having a shitty actor stuff food in their face makes them a good actor
@TheMadrfakr he dude thats one of australia's finest and funniest comedians and interviewers in australias. have you ever interviewed a famous person, have been in movies, have a tv show. are you even australian. well shut up
@TheMadrfakr actually that's one of the best interviews Ive seen with QT, Rove wasn't an arrogant prick to him and spoke to him on the same level therefore he got a great interview out of it
@chicopapass i will counter that. everything BUT the basterds was good. the movie wasn't about the basterds, it was shosanna's movie through and through. you sort of couldn't edit the basterds out of it as they pretty much contribute to the end, but not by much. it's totally about shosanna from beginning to end.
@movieman2000 im not saying the bastards was the movie im just saying shosanna's part in it took forever and already made sense after the first time she mentions burning the theatre. but the other shosanna part were slow and boring and unneeded
@chicopapass well...i mean...she couldn't escape the jew hunter then we go to the basterds and then go back to her and she decides to blow the cinema up. the whole thing with frederick zoller had to happen for her to get to the conclusion of blowing the cinema up. it was a lot of work to get there i'll admit but things had to happen before blowing the cinema up. out of interest, are you a QT fan at all? it just seemed like a normal QT movie to me. not his best, but not awful either, just QT
Great editing in this interview, and good camera work to compliment. If you guys watch an interview with Quentin in his earlier days he was high as a kite off coke. His mind is out there, but it's the truth. Reality in front of the lens hasn't been any closer than what this man has produced. Only thing close is Steven Spielberg's war movies or Martin Scorsese's films. Good Fellas and The Departed. The Newest film Kick-Ass had Brad Pitt behind the camera. He is influenced 100% by QT. Nuff said.
I am a big U.S. history buff, and I am happy to hear QT would want to be John Brown. How awesome would a John Brown bio-pic be if it were directed and written by Quentin Tarantino?
@Zeeboe I wouldn't say of all time, but I as talking about the very end when they beat Kurt russell to death. Call me sexist but they would have busted their knuckles with how hard they were hitting him.
@HaggardNaggar - Who's to say they didn't hurt their fists? :-) Also remember they were bad-ass chicks, & it was a grindhouse film, & t was Stuntman Mike, not Kurt Russell. :-)
I am a huge Kurt Russell fan btw, & the ending really pissed me off the first time I saw it, but I've changed my point of view in the last three years. Mostly because it was Kurt Russell's idea to go there, & that wasn't Kurt Russell or any of his past characters he's played who got beat up.
@Zeeboe I don't know what you mean by "& t was Stuntman Mike, not Kurt Russell" because Kurt Russell is Stuntman Mike. I'm glad you see where I'm comming from, but I never did change my point of view over the last three years, I still hate the end.
@HaggardNaggar - There were women clapping, laughing, & cheering at the end of the movie. lol. Anytime I introduce this movie to my female friends, they have the same reaction. I know my two friends I showed this movie to had never seen or heard of Kurt Russell. (One is 18, the other is 19) & I was just glad to have had introduced the greatness that is Kurt Russell to a new generation, which I believe was one of QT's reasons for hiring him.
Even if they don't see him in the same way we do when we first saw Kurt as Snake, he still played a memorable cult character, & that is all that really matters. It also made me very proud to be a Kurt Russell fan. I loved that Kurt played a slasher in a horror movie. I never would have expected to see him in that sort of role, & he was beyond perfect, & now plenty of women/girls will forever fear him. :)
@HaggardNaggar - Yeah, I'd even say it was a chick flick. A violent chick flick with QT's own personal style attached to it, but a chick flick nontheless. I still enjoy it though, and thought Kurt Russell stole the show.
Quentin has a very genius but eccentric brain. You can just detect that when he speaks. He's perfect for publicizing films. Is there any director who does more interview and promotions for his films these days?
Youre right, any comparison is an insult to the great Kubrick. However, Tarantino also has its own little universe. Granted its not as immersive and not nearly as ingenious as Kubricks work. Though Tarantinos movies deserve the credit they get.
