  • Thanks for the great video tinny it was was very detailed and informative. i follow the instructions as best i could i cook the meat(88/12) and let it drain. Then i put the ground beef between paper towel and let it dry completely. But i had it in the dehydrator for 2 days It crunchy and dry inside but it very oily outside. Where do you think i went wrong. I appreciate your input. Thanks

  • could you do ground chicken the same way?

  • Thanks again Tinny for a great video. Would you mind looking at my vid on Dehydrated food and look at the cozy, I would really like to hear your comment on it. Thanks Tinny your the best.

  • I saved all the grease and made suet blocks for the birds out of it. That's what suet is. Beef fat. That way the birds are happy, my sink is happy, I'm happy.

  • Anyway, Thank You for all the videos Tinny! Got my dehydrator humming and getting ready for the Montana Spring/Summer hiking season!

  • THANK YOU FOR DUMPING YOUR GREASE DOWN THE SINK WHERE IT ENDS UP IN MY CHILDREN'S AND WILDLIFE'S WATER. :(

  • @scott80100 Damn what a whiner you are! Get off the high horse and go enjoy living

  • wy WOULD YOU WANT TO DEYDRATE HAMBURGER!!!!! ITS ALLREADY DISGUSTING ENUFFF DONT MAKE IT WORSE!

  • Shouldn't drain fat down the sink - it'll cool, harden, and clog your drains. Drain the fat into a can or a jar you're throwing away...let it cool, and toss it in the garbage.

  • I'm glad you mentioned that you can cook and eat the stalks! Stir-fried broccoli stalks are very good and have tons of fiber and other good stuff like that.

  • can u dry out beef with rock salt and hang em up in a cupboard. can enyone tell me

  • i do the stems i cut thin and i used it is soup and they come back great for me i dont waste any of it

  • Tinny using a regular gas stove instead of a MiniBuild.... Sacrilege! :)

    Love the demos and information!

  • Do yourselves a big justice and give up animal meat all-together. You'll live so much longer.

  • Draining too much fat and water removes a lot of the flavor from hamburger. You say that, but I'd cook it less and leave a lot of the slight pink in it. Let the water dry out a little--and retain a lot of the flavor.

  • @kc7fys when it is dried you can add beef bouillon powder to it in the container you are going to store it in

  • Awesome work Tinny! I have a question, how do you know how much water you'll need? is there a ratio?

    thanks Tinny

  • do veggies lose their nutrients when you dehydrate like this...

is this a good way to eat green veggies

  • At last a translation of the word hamburger. We call it mince meat or just mince, or minced beef in the UK. When I started researching food dehydrating I though they were using hamburger like a Macdonalds burger...

  • Minibuild.. Is there a cool way to turn an empty Sterno heat can into an alcohol stove? The kind with teh holes?

  • To prevent hamburger from clumping as you cook it, cover the raw meat with cool water in a bowl, let sit 10-15 minutes. Breakup the meat buy hand, then drain in a strainer. Cook as you normally would.

  • can you dehydrate cheese with the hamburger?

  • You can keep that meat unrefridgerated for up to 6 months and it doesnt spoil? Do you need to vacuum seal it or can you just toss it loosely into a ziplock bag???? thats amazing!

  • Hey there :) Just out of curiousity have you tried peeling the stalks first? Thanks for the vids your efforts are greatly appreciated :)

  • i didnt know you could dehydrate meat like like that at home. how does it taste when its rehydrated?

  • thanks alot. this has really helped me alot

  • Hey Tinny, your sink pipe and yard drain pipe are due for a cardiac arrest, lol!

  • grease can be filtered and reused...

  • Hey Tinny you stumbled onto something with the Brockley . The stem has very little nutrition and the flowerett has the main source so keep up the good work !

  • You've kept dehydrated food in your back pack for up to six mon ths and it's still safe to eat?

  • Dehydrated food that is properly packaged and stored can last for 30 years.

  • Thank you for helping clear up my confusion on this issue. :)

  • can you dehydrate a steak if so do you cook it first

  • Sure you can --just cook it and slice it up in 1/4 inch thick strips

  • then its called jerky lol

  • @minibulldesign It is called JERKY, LOL. You do not need to cook it just slice it about 1/4 inch thick and then dehydrate and leave for a day or so etc.... It is very simple.

    cheers

  • Great tip on the broccoli, Tinny. I'll be preparing some lightweight backpacking meals for my vacation this month. Going from full gourmet, multi-course meals to dehydrated rations is a big paradigm shift for me; however your tutelage has made the learning curve much less steep. Thanks!

  • sharp knife

  • All that grease is going to coat your pipes - could end up with a grease plug and nasty things backing up into your house. Our HOA had one house ruined and two other near misses from grease plugs. We narrowly missed getting sued. The flooring, sub-floor, trim, drywall, heating vents, visqueen and soil under the house had to be removed - out of their house for months. Make a foil boat and drain into that, cool then toss in the trash or pour into a can. CAN THE GREASE! Luv UR Vids, Tinny!! :)

  • @auntyv i hear ya about the grease...What i do is i put the package from the meat in the garbage with a few papertowels in it and put the collender resting on the garbage can the just drain the meat into that

  • @auntyv hehe ,..........u funny

  • first time ive seen you not cook on an alcohol stove.
