it's great to see young guys like you playing Bensusan, keep up the good work! Thanks to youtube, these players are starting to get the recognition they deserved. I saw Bensusan play to handful of people in a grotty club in Sunderland - the greatest fingerstyle guitarist in the world! I now live in France, where Bensusan grew up and no one has heard of him! a tragedy!
You could play this tune much better with a different right hand technique. Arch your wrist slightly and keep your hand closer to the soundhole. Your thumb will strike the bass strings more solidly without you having to bend it. The thumb should be banana shaped, joint locked and press down through the string. Your finger position will fall into place with the thumb right. result -stronger more even tone.
Some tunes sound ridiculous slow only because you have heard them played so well at a slower speed and the melody is very rich. He plays it well but could do with listening to Ed Boyd playing it on one of the Flook Live albums.
Yeah you are playing ridiculously fast on this song. When you play Irish songs like this you need to consider every note you play and take your time. The steady movement of rhythm is not the key to making it sound nice, you need to give yourself time to play each note with feelings. Also, watch your thumb -- you aren't giving those bass notes enough time to breathe. Keep it up, though. Cheers.
This is a beautiful piece. but you have to serilously slow down. All the notes are there, but when you play: you play for the listener as well. Give some time to my ear to catch what you are playing! WEll done. Realy.
Hehe. I'm learning this piece right now from Bensusan's excellent guitar book. Not sure how fast to be taking it as it has a strange sense of stasis. I think it should be somewhere around a slow air, but the speed you played it at sounds good too and it suits the classical guitar.
Haha I have no idea why so fast lads! Sounds a lot better slower

Thank you! And yes, I really need to slow down. It sounds too rushed. Ah well, next time!
