@europe0wnz wrong. extreme heat will cause the fuel to expand in the tank causing it to blow. Or as the gas expands it will leak from the tank breather and be ignighted by the flame, also ending in explosion.

@harasyn92 if the fumes where escaping from the breather, then the breather would catch fire, and just stay as that, a flame. it wouldnt explode. have you ever seen a jerry can catch fire at the nozzle? it wont blow either. the only way for it to explode is for the air to be in the tank.

@europe0wnz When I was 9 I drove a car 60mph into a hill and something happened that the car caught on fire, me and my cousin bailed.

Around 25 minutes later, there was a similar explosion such as the one in the video, turns out the cars fuel tank was made of iron or something, the car was old so everything was made of metal allowing for pressure to build as the fuel reached its boiling point and inevitably, something gave.

the burst was so abrupt, the initial blast actually put the fire out.

@THAT1ANONYMOUSDUDE the the 'fuel tank' gave an abrupt explosion, it wouldnt put out a fire, gas under pressure and heat evaporates even quicker then it usually does, and all it takes for gas to ignite is heat, and a fire gives more then enough heat, even after it dies down, and in a tank full of pressure it takes a temperature of over 400 degree's F to boil

@europe0wnz thats not the gas tank read the decription its a tire and as for the fuel tank as it heats up pressure builds as the fuel is vaporizing and when it hits a certian pressure the tank will fail

@crashcx doesnt mean air gets into the tank. theres constant pressure exerting fumes, without air the tank cannot explode. so all that will happen is a flame coming out of the vents.

@ReignForever Tanks almost never "blow", the fuel cap and neck will blow out first. That vents the tank enough to keep them from blowing. There's more danger from shocks, lift cylinders on hoods and the air bag units blowing than fuel tanks. Those parts will fly for quite a distance and can impale people. The big explosions are more Hollywood unless a tank is ripped open on impact.
