US news media is always critical of their own government. The government officials themselves encourage people to debate (Republicans vs. Democrats). This is completely OPPOSITE to the Chinese government desire to have all people just listen to the governments orders and follow the government's decisions.

China was exporting instability when the yen that is artificially held low. What is interesting is that when the other currencies weaken this becomes infeasible. Now you get many unskilled unemployed with little savings, no employment insurance. Historically this situation lends itself to instability revolution. With modern communications I wouldn't be surprised to see minor tipping point incidence explode in a flash. This depends on how bad things get.

Yes, just take a little atention about Tibet people understand they have their own ethnic, language & writing, culture, Buddhist schools, had their own government and economy... before comrade Mao realized they were part of China.
