I used to reduce the guncotten to a wax type gel by dissolving it in a mixture of ether and alcohol and it became a form of blasting gelatin, If you mix with Magnesium or Thermite it detonates easliy with a vey hot and intensely bright explosion. Super Hot!
the main ingredient in C4 is RDX, something you'll probably never be able to manufacture in the required amounts or of the needed purity to do something with.
Well i was just clearing things out. You will be able to make RDX if you have a high purity of White Nitric Acid, but it takes lots of time to make C4 itself.
Thats dangerous, I ALLWAYS neutrolyse my nitrated products by puting them in to a bath of sodium cabonate solution, this will make the product mutch saver to handle.

Hochprozentig also 100% bzw 99,99...%
und bei der kühlung würde ich vorsichtig sein sonst fliegt dir das zeug um die ohren also lieber langsam und zeit nehmen als alles reinzukippen

Cooling the acids isn't entirely necessary, but it improves the quality of the finished product.

What if you did this without rinsing the cotton with water first?
baggedandblown 3 years ago
do you use the same stuff to make c4 ?
Airguncp 3 years ago
so the HNO3 and H2SO4 together would be nitroglycerine?
Monxer 3 years ago
No. HNO3 and H2SO4 together with glycerine, that would be Nitroglycerine. Dont try this! Much too dangerous!

dear god, no.
the main ingredient in C4 is RDX, something you'll probably never be able to manufacture in the required amounts or of the needed purity to do something with.
zomgerln 3 years ago
C4 isn't exactly RDX, you need HMX as well and PBX.
UAEchemist 3 years ago
I said; the MAIN ingredient is RDX, not that the only ingredient was RDX.
zomgerln 3 years ago
Well i was just clearing things out. You will be able to make RDX if you have a high purity of White Nitric Acid, but it takes lots of time to make C4 itself.
UAEchemist 3 years ago
I know, but I don't have those chemicals and i don't make explosives any more.
zomgerln 3 years ago
Oh well. Good to go with chemistry.
UAEchemist 3 years ago
You don't NEED HMX to make RDX. You can do it with just RDX and PBX, but other plasticizers other than PBX can be used to make a C4-like substance.
lucifer79078 2 years ago
PBX is not a plasticiser.
It stands for polymer-bonded-explosive.
Plus, C4 is never cited as containing HMX, only RDX and plasticisers/binders. The RDX has a trace of HMX but is never quoted.

I know this can be made with kno3 instead of nitric acid, but could i use hydrocloric acid and kno3 to make this?
weredude42 3 years ago
Well, i've tried, but it sux due to very small yield. But good nitration anyway. Better to find some glassware and distill.
