I use to live out that way and never heard of that town. They do drill for oil in western ND. Im sure going to follow up on this. Now if water from the gulf got far enough inland I worry as the Red River flows N strait up from there to Canada. Rivers branch out from the Red that feed lakes and streams in Minnesota to the EAST and same to the West into North Dakota. Very scary thought.. They use chemicals when drilling for oil and the companies leave oily pits on farms when they pac up and go!
Wow that is freaky. The rain shouldn't kill fish. I expect something got washed into the water from agriculture nearby. Modern day agriculture is using way too many pesticides.
