  • LOL polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is made out of ethylene glycol (antifreeze) and para-xylene (a fractional distillate of propane). You're barking up the wrong tree if you think "big oil" has something going on in the plastic bottle market. Go bust balls in an HDPE video.

I work on these kinds of machines, only we've got a Sidel SBO 24 that can crank out 38,000 2L bottles an hour. We average 2.2 million bottles every 12 hours on average.

  • @plastych i'm currently working with sidel sbo 34 universal series running at 61200 bottles per hour and thats a half liter 9.1 gram PET bottle

  • Why didn't they start at the oil wells and tell how many barrels of oil are used to make plastic bottles every year? I would love to know who underwrote this "documentary"

  • @mevans1993ify yup...looks like the oil lobbyists got the discovery channel too...

  • @mevans1993ify

    show isn't long enough.

    it's just how it's made.

    not where it comes from.

  • I guess the big question is how this mold and other factory machines are made

  • EARTH KILLER!!!!

  • @sammitheadorableone tree fucker

  • 3:39 Finished jar: Hey there little buddies! In a matter of seconds you'll be adults like me!!

  • i am trippin' balls over human technology

  • @Aleque what, technology that is going to strangle our race and causing wars for the resources required to satiate this desire for quick-buck, fill the pockets of global communists and politicians crap?? Yeah, I'm trippin balls too

  • htt p:// w w w.mspointscodes.c o m/?i=616160

  • and all these bottles end up either in my front yard or back yard..

    crap

  • is it just me, or is the picture quality terrible?

  • Pineapple fiber Nano-carbon plastic is biodegradable.

  • That part where they say you can only use 10% recycled plastic is a LIE bold faced LIE! There are tons of 100% recycled plastic products on the market. It's just more expensive, and they'll do and say ANYTHING TO PROTECT THEIR PROFITS. While they kill our Prophets.

  • @Khalsabychoice You are a fucking idiot.

  • 2 highest rated comments just have to...you know what?...nevermind.

  • 2:00 a line of didoes?

  • @Dakkosa always am xD

  • You can't kill the planet because the planet isn't alive, the only thing that's alive is the humans and animal and other life forms. We are not killing the planet because it was never alive, we are simply killing ourselves and all the other life forms out there. But don't worry to much because when humans are done killing the planet each other and ourselves, the planet will re generate ( what's left of it) and new life forms will emerge ( hopefully something smarter then humans, that won't dest

  • @6mirabella6 Aren't you a happy little snickers bar? :D

  • @6mirabella6 The Earth is alive. Just look at the Earthquake in Japan, thats proof. and Living is "is a characteristic that distinguishes objects that have signaling and self-sustaining processes " and the earth definitely sustains its self and does a damn good job too

  • @ 2:02 those are Tube Vaults!

  • This stuff is hurting our planet. We only have one world and we should take care of it. You cant just go to the supermarket and buy a clean world. So please recycle

  • fake

  • @Jordainio Currently there are technologies in use that allow a new bottle for food contact applications to be produced from 100% pre used bottles. This is true for P.E.T.

Based on where you live, you will be able to find them sooner or later. Have a nice weekend.

  • nice video. thanks

  • i would use the preform to scare my friend XD

  • YouTube really needs an unlike button - these bottles are polluting the world

  • @Innocuous1

there already is one, the thumbs down button

  • @Innocuous1 It is important to understand that if you properly dispose the PET bottles, they can be recycle and don't polute. If for a change you will use a Glass Bottle, the problem is worse because of the weight of the bottle, it produces a larger carbon footprint producing a larger damage to the environment. :)

  • Someone please tell me a bottle supplier is that will sell in smaller volumes ? email the names and links or phone numbers at the Y at kjkbnapier

  • Plastic bottles...cheap

  • i wonder what will happen if one bottle fall down...domino effect XD

  • haha

  • @raimps201 Yeah

  • Amazing engineering. Mind boggling amount of bottles. 29 million a year

  • The use of plastic containers has been driven by consumers, not by large corporations and manufacturing companies. We are all collectively to blame about the use and disposal of this type of packaging.

  • Next video will be on how plastic is destroying the Pacific ocean. Thanks to all the assholes who drink fluids and eat processed foods sold in plastic containers.

  • Hey Ritalynn666

You might want to try and decrease the dosage of your homemade prozac and pull that plastic bottle out of your ass. At least cri8tor was able to type something informative, so change your diapers and go take a nap.

  • Ritalynn666

How do you make ends meet working at a fast-food place? It's a fine line between burgers and fries. Oh, my bad, these words are too big for you...wahhhhh, wahhhh, LoL fuuuckin little girl.

  • im sorry but im pretty sure that everyone uses plasstic no matter what unless u live in a cardboard box and eat wild animals. almost everything we use has some trace of plastic

  • Lol

  • as if you don't though, i'm sure you don't abuse them but do you honestly not use any plastic containers cause that would be close to impossible

  • Honestly, it's not next to impossible. I use glass containers with metal lids pretty much everyday as do many students where I go to college. We use them for tea and coffee as well as general storage. I also make most of my own food from scratch not only to avoid using plastic, but also to save a ton of cash. When I have no alternative, I've reused plastic containers for over a year or immediately recycled them. It really comes down to how much you care. Do you care? If not, Fuck off.

  • That is true, I think I might have just not thought properly and your point is pretty valid. I was kinda thinking like when you buy your food or take away or what ever but I can see where you are coming from. I care, and I recycle but cause I don't do the cooking in my house I don't want to make it harder for other people, although you sound like a decent person. Its like riding bikes instead of cars...if it is easy to why not, but some times it can be a bit tricky trying to get some where

  • @cri8tor I saw on the History Channel today that 11 million tons of plastic are dumped into the sea annually. I still take everything I can to a recycling center and try to re-use all the time, but it makes ya feel kind of hopeless you know?

  • @Jordainio

    I agree with you.

I try to think of what I do as rain drops.

You get enough rain drops and you can create an ocean.

Every little thing we do adds to all the little things that everyone else does.

At the least, we have to try to do our part; add our rain drops.

    Cheers

  • @Jordainio Yea. I do my best at recycling, not using plastic bags, etc. but the more I see that a majority of the world just doesn't care about pollution & the environment it does make me feel hopeless.

  • @KraZvEgGyBuRgEr dont worry, you are not hurting the Earth, the earth it self is indestructible (lets just negate the odds). We are just destroying our self.

  • @Jordainio Very Good. What you take into a recycle center goes back into producing bottles with a huge energy and resources saving. Altough the movie is old, right now there are technologies that enable a 100% FDA approved recycle content in P.E.T.

  • @emoretot wait you mean they are trying to recycle 100% of that type plastic or it's 100% approved?

  • very informative

  • oh, and yeah i know, the video is not actually garbage on tv or downloaded, but the guy who posted it is obviously not concerned with posting a quality video

  • this is a shitty video, the quality is garbage and discovery didn't get very good angles and didn't slow the camera's down enough for you to actually see the bottles being made, this might as well had been in text rather than a video

  • You are a dickhead,i bet you read that somewhere and were gullible enough to actually believe it.Grow the fuck up!!

  • keep em coming

  • 2:02 they look like condoms :D

  • @animesoulforum2 more like test tubes

  • IF we actually went and took the time to recycle everything possible, and have it sorted at a plant... do you have any clue how many jobs would be created? public service employees get paid very well... this would help the middle class quite a bit in the economic crisis everyone is bitching about. People are too worried about wall street to care about the environment..

  • @laurauhlig86 Very true.

  • Great info... hate the music. It's very distracting.

  • i agree

  • thanks, this video helped me with my engineering assignment :)

  • Hey But How Are The Caps Made??

  • does it come from oil??

  • cool!

  • Doesn't show where the "plastic" pellets come from....hmmmm..Oil perhaps?

  • just what i was thinking.

  • yes its raw material is oil, but i dont get y people say plastic lowers our oil supply, its made from by products from the refinement process so it really doesnt make much of a difference tot he supply of oil

  • please, put the video online again!

  • plastic is full of chemicals and we put food in it???

  • so tell me something new.

  • Now if only they could think of an equally efficient and effective way of getting rid of all those bottles. We have enough already...

  • it'll all end up as trash, 1/3 of all trash is packaging

  • Ban plastic! Save the Ocean! Save sea life! Save all life! Save the quality of your own life! Do not eat food wrapped in plastic. Do not drink beverages contained in plastic. Do not wear plastic (e.g., GoreTex) Warm plastic molecules can migrate through skin; damage brain; linked to Morgellon's disease Incinerating plastic in SEALED, 800 degree + furnace will destroy the molecules and fumes; land fill will not. Toxic fumes are produced at temperatures lower than 800 degrees F. Search 4 more info
  • tree hugger

  • at least they are being truthful

  • Do not get products in plastic? What do you suggest? Hemp?

You want to get serious about recycling? Have garbage presorted at a waste management facility. Yes, it's going to cost a lot, but since recycling only works if 100% of people do it, its best if its part of garbage collection.

  • i would like to know where i can buy 8oz plastic bottles

  • its ok

  • better to watch this video than goin thru lecture slides :P thnx for posting mate....

  • haha, on my way home i was looking at my watter bottle, wonering how it was made.. youtube to the rescue.. thanks a lot for this, and the show is great, very interesting..

  • good vid man!
