  • Man speaking in beginning: JUST FREAKING GO!

  • Go...

    GO...

Damn do i need to spell it out for you?! GO GO GO

    xD 0:07

  • man for 1977 this was really high tech comercial wow

  • "It could only happen at Disneyland"

...or Disney WORLD, where it opened three years earlier.

  • 0:22 I actually lol'ed.

  • I love Space Mountain at Walt Disney World in Florida, we're headding down there in October!!!!!! I can't wait!!!!!!

  • i cant imagine how many people complained that this was false advertising

  • I went to Disneyland when in 1977, when I was 6. My parents tricked me into riding this (I didn't know it was a roller coaster), and it terrified the daylights out of me!

  • Funny thing is I remember this commercial. LOL!

  • DIsney land HAHA. Now Magic Kingdom.

  • Even in 1977 the future looks so old! :D

  • thumbs up if u love this ride

  • Get hurled into the vast reaches of space, never to be seen or heard from again...

"it can only happen at Disnelyand"

  • I always thought it was far too noisy.

  • No offense to all the Disneyland lovers but Disney World had the first Space Mountain. It opened in 1975. Of course they planned to put in Disneyland first but they didn't have the technology and money I think. So I guess you could say Disneyland's was the first, but Disney WORLD'S was built first. Yay now I'm just sounding confusing. :P

  • @Ethanator2010 ...so true.... I am from New Orleans and recall the commercials... coudn't wait to make the 17 hour trip to Orlando and ride Space Mountain @ Disney WORLD

  • @Ethanator2010 it's the disneyland version of space mountain not the disney world one.

  • @Ethanator2010 Oh and it said that Space Mountain of Disney World came first because, Disneyland has park limitations for Space Mountain.

  • They made evry ride seem scary

  • Hmmm... maybe the launch of Space Mountain was timed to coincide with Star Wars.

  • I don't know when Space Mountain officially arrived at Disney World, but it was there in 1980 for sure. Thanks for the memory - I never forgot this commercial.

  • @roperkids it opened May 27, 1977

  • @roperkids Space Mountain at Disney World opened January 15th, 1975- first indoor dark rollercoaster in the world. There is even a video of the whole opening ceremony with balloons, marching band, dedications, astronauts, and astronaut Mickey of course!

  • nice leotards hippies!

  • haha i like how this chick is just saying all this stuff and the other guy is just like " dam do i have to spell it out for you, go go go!

  • it can only happen at disneyland...and disney world(which had space mountain first. That's probably the reason it sucks)

  • From the creators of "The Parent Trap" and "Song of the South" comes the ride of a lifetime.

  • its kinda funny i can kinda see stuff in the dark so i can see the track.

so when i went wit my senior class. they couldnt see it. so i would say Left turn.

and b4 they could lean with the turn they would hit the side of the cars.

    it was funny for me

  • It could only happen at Disneyland...except it was already at Disney World ;)

  • @yamihoole Except they got a really lame version.

  • OMG that's awesome! I was just telling my husband about this commercial! I remember watching it at my grandmother's house. My baby brother was sitting in his infant seat and every morning we would watch the Mickey Mouse Club "together". Amazingly I've only ridden Space Mountain once in all the times I've been to Disneyland/World. I rode it in 1996 on my honeymoon at Disney World!

  • wow, this a classic commercial..:)

  • @dizpin haha yep.of course when they say "Space Mountain it can only happen at Disneyland" they mean only the one there. Disney World had Space Mountain first. I love classic Space Mountain visions like this ;)

  • sweet

  • 00:16- 00:22 ROFLMAO!!!

  • @TheRandomCritic4265 hahahahaha funny screaming they put on ride commercials back then... :D

  • nice to know I was old enough to experience the original S.M. before they changed it

  • @steel4eva lucky. I didn't even know there was a Space Mountain in Disneyland until 2009. I only knew about Disney World's Space Mountain, which got a refurb in 2009.

  • i love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @rocketrodlover I saw your username and couldn't avoid writing this to you... I wish they would open a new, mechanically improved version of rocket rods or peoplemover at Disneyland... It's ironic how Disney World has always had the same peoplemover cars running smoothly, I think they should put some in Disneyland :) gotta love original Tomorrowland stuff ;)

  • Yeah I totaly agree. I go to DL every moth and its so tragic to see that track so neglected for soo long. I hope something comes soon

  • Ric Flair is Space Mountain.

  • Whooooooo! Whooooooo!

  • cool :)

  • what an chezzy add well i still like space mountain and what that ad is like the 80"s

  • It is from when the ride opened back in 77.

  • you would think its cheesy you grungy twerp

  • Experience it now!

  • Your stupid! I'm not going to fall for that!

  • I so remember that! I just sold my "I Conquered Space Mountain" bumper sticker on ebay that they were giving out at the end of the ride.

  • How awesome to see that again. I remember when that ad played here in Southern California. SM was so highly anticipated and when you got to the park and were standing in the queue, I remember you could see into the attraction from the line, watching the trains, glowing in the dark, zipping around. It built up the suspense. Great find!!!

  • Perhaps you can post some more of the 1977 videotape?

Thanks for this. i remember it well!

  • ...and disneyworld. lol.

  • Space mountain is amazing ride through outer space best ride at disneyland by far

  • I love Space Mountain...

  • Wow, very similar to the rare commercial for the space mountain in orlando, except I remember at the end of the wdw one, it showed the tops of the roofs of mainstreet at sunset. of course, I was only 3 or 4 when i saw it. Thanks for the post.

  • nice...

  • i cant stop watching it!!!

  • amazing!!! where did you find it???

  • Thanks! 'Twas a fortuitous find on an old video tape of 1977 prime-time TV (KNXT in Los Angeles).

  • This is the best! Great find! Awesome!

  • I have a question what happened to those safety bars on the original rockets on each row when they added the audio it disappeared

  • Wow, that commercial seems to creepy. I wish I would've seen SM in 1977 :(
