Grob is the Name of the manufacturer it's a German Company . if you want to see what kind of strange aurcrafts the've builded in the past use google to fin the Egrett or the amazing Strato 2c that can be compared with the Mjassischtschew M55 Geophysica but the 2c flies higher and for about 48 hours ;) German technology, still the best in the World
What a Beautiful Aircraft. If I only had the money, although I would just enjoy a test flight in this Jet! All I ever flew was a Piper warrior and assorted Cessnas while in college. Well, maybe my ship will come in someday. It is still a pleasure to view the videos on You Tube. I can dream on.
The second prototype crashed last year and killed the test pilot. He was very experienced, a veteran from the French airforce. I just cant understand what went wrong.
I think there was some issue with the aircraft being flown outside of it's authorised performance/speed envelope causing 'flutter' in the elevator which led to a failure in the airframe and subsequent crash. According to to press, I think they are delivering their first orders in 2009
He may have done it on purpose, to show the aircrafts STOL capabilities. You can see for youself just how little runway it needs to come to a full stop.
Also the plane landed on grass. I did not expect that in a Business jet.
Germans have an obsession with STOL aircraft, ever since the Fiesler Storch, and the Rocket assistes STOL planes of WW2.
Man, you're right! He didn't just kiss the mains a few inches before the line - he completely landed the airplane on all 3 wheels. I suppose the only positive thing is that he didn't brake until he passed the line. But you're right...BIG no-no!
Still, you have to wonder why they did it, and placed it on their marketing video. Factory airfield or not, the displaced threshold is still there. And if it's truly not an issue, why have it painted that way in the first place?
That is absolutely true. Might be that they had the camera positioned in such a way that they had to touch down there (unlikely) or the pilot just didn't care (which is just wrong). At a normal airfield this would have been a big no-no and there would be a reprimand, but here I guess they just didn't care..
Amazing!!!

In Russian the word "Grob" means "coffin". Bad name for a plane.

At the 2:30 mark the airplane is shown landing prior to the displaced threshold. That's a big No-No.

True, but since it is the factory airfield with no ATC and other traffic it is not really an issue. They do not frown on those things in Germany...
