@GeneralMillss It's probably because Converge and Mastodon are pretty close. When Mastodon first started, they were actually kind of hardcore, with metal elements, and then they started doing progressive metal. If you listen to the song Naked Burn by Mastodon it really makes me think of metalcore.

You know, I hear really good things about the lyrics for this album, and I am really intrigued, being a lyricist myself, but I choose not to read them. I believe the concept of the album is watching a girl that was once loved, fade away into anonyminity. And I believe that's why the lyrics were made unintelligible, to be faceless, just like Jane Doe. I don't mean to sound like a pretentious douche or anything, I just don't want to wreck the concept for me. It is quite beautiful.

There really aren't lyrics. When Converge creates something, they just put forth whatever comes freely and naturaly to them, which is why they can produce such emotionally powerful songs. They've already confirmed that making lyrics is mostly an afterthought.

Jacob Bannon's vocals, admittedly are something to get used to, but once you do you cant get enough. They are raw and aggressive and powerful, which is evrything that they need to be.

The vocals are something you have to get used to. And with converge you have to listen to everything a few times to really get it...but once you do every time there is that pause and then shit gets REAL it gives me fucking chill bumps. 1:25

these guys are the hardest band to get into....they get so much praise for technicality, musicianship etc... ive tried to listen to this album but i just cant i find absolutely nothing special about this...the vocals are absolutely horrible, and the music is AVERAGE at best

There really aren't lyrics. When Converge creates something, they just put forth whatever comes freely and naturaly to them, which is why they can produce such emotionally powerful songs. They've already confirmed that making lyrics is mostly an afterthought.

I've been listening to Converge for about 10 years and the lyrics on jane doe and you fail me are very emotional, but I've always enjoyed them for the most part. I really did like No Heroes a lot too. All their albums are well done, they really play their heart out and have for like what, almost 20 years now? Jezz
