  • Lucky you didn't stall it on the line with the subsequent nosedive while the bungee is still pulling. You need to launch horizontal with more speed. Looks like the man throwing the plane pulls the tail down causing this ridiculous angle.

  • You almost stalled that glider. Scary. The guy didn know how to throw when bungee pulls - this is tricky and few ppl know how to. The solution is even stronger winch.

It must be able to give some 3G lateral to the plane.

  • That was lame. You need way more power and height. Ideally the sailplane should go straigth up above your head, or even behind you, then it is a good launch.

  • @TirianB You're confusing scale gliders with F3J gliders. The force from a slow takeoff with an F3J would cripple a scale plane.

  • Wow, that actually looks like a real winch launch for about two seconds. :D Im impressed.

  • 4:04 High alpha :D

  • Where is the gear? I hate hi starts teiy are soo dangerous! Nice video.

  • that bungee doesn't seem thick enough, bit of a dodgy launch

    nice glider

  • no propeller or fan?

  • how can they not know that would happen? slopers

  • When u launched it i was like: FUCK NOOOOOOOOOOO!

    and then: aaaaaaaah....

  • what happens when you cant see the plane anymore ??

  • @Reson11

    ha ha your fucked

  • Very nice plane,... also a nice hi start.

  • I'm impressed that a hi-start lifted that - I don't know why I'm impressed...maybe the last hi-start I had just wasn't a good one.

  • sehr nice.

  • I've bungeed this size sailplane, it is tricky. a more level or slightly nose down throw using both hands at the pod and boom, will be more predictable. I have a 4 meter ASW-28 and, due to previous bad experiences with other sailplanes this size, i wouldn't even think of doing this! But your plane is super efficient and your skills are excellent!!

  • I am the owner and thanks for the comments regarding the Launch and flying.... Yes it was perhaps not the best decision I ever made, but I have made worse ones when it comes to Bungee Launches ( Alex also has a video of me Launching \Crashing a DG 1000 somewhere, either here or on Meta Cafe). Anyhow, the ASH is still flying and doing well. I love this Glider!

  • wow thats a dodgy take off. i think ur meant to just let go of model not run with it as far as i know lol. gota b careful that dont come off bungy and tail land into the ground. but good flying though.

  • you just can't let go of this and expect to launch itself on a hi-start, you need to give it a good push... unless you are using a powered winch.

  • When landing I see flaps but no crow... is it indeed a crow setup or is he landing with only flaps?

I have an ASW-28 and am wondering if I should set up flapperons or spoilerons for landing.

  • he is using crow. The ailerons go up only a little. This slows it down pretty good

  • Heavy Model. Bungee looks like it is only just coping. Very nice flying though. Thanks for sharing

  • I live in Colombia, south america,,

Is there a webpage I can look at?

  • Where can I buy a glider that size?

  • that depends on where you live

  • are you using slope lift?

  • yes, about 10mph wind

  • You almost crashed the nice 26 at the start! To avoid that, please hold the glider at the tail, not in the middle of the body.

  • No he never nearly crashed it, it just needed a little bit more wind speed as it's a heavy model.

  • Both valid points, but that is not the reason for his "near miss". Everyone knows that you should take off directly into wind if at all possible, thus ensuring the highest possible airspeed to prevent stalling. This launch was made across and slightly down wind, a very danagerous move with such a beautiful sailplane. For evidence: see the direction the parachute is blown upon it's release.

  • Yeah, i was impressed too with such a "high alpha departure" - looked like a russian Sukhoi using vectored thrust, hehehehe...

  • very nice glider...i am a beginer so i just got the cularis but in the future for sure ill go for one like this it looks like its a great sailplane to fly.

  • Do you mind told us the total weight of this glider (include the battery, servo, lead etc..)

  • about 10.5 lbs

  • Do this plane has a air brake?

  • It comes with an airbrake setup, but the owner chose not to install these. He uses crow for landing.
