  • My Gran in her first weeks of marriage said "I've never prepared rabbit", my Granddad replied "you'd better learn then, I'm off to work and I want them for dinner". You're wearing a wedding ring ;) I know, I know, my mrs wont dress them either, doesn't mind eating them though

  • Awsome vid u did very well in explaining how to do it, I hope to see more vids like this one,

Keep up with the good work!

  • I shot my first rabbit last night got him in the corner of his eye killed him clean

  • nice one..dunno bout the washin up though..i didnt get married so id have to do that.../wink

  • That looks delicious! Very informative video, thank you very much

  • Hi David, allways nice to see your vids!! Good luck, Jack!

  • @steinderbush Thank you.

  • Nice! Your narrative and accent is very soothing, pleasant, and homey. My wife and I live in Alabama US. My wife is from Mississippi. The US Southern accent isn't too far from yours. My wife and I both have lots of Irish blood and kin. ... I'm a falconer, too. Around here we have cottontail rabbits and a species of hare locally called 'canecutters'. They're very good in a curry stew with squirrels for flavor.

  • Thank you, brilliant!

I see your videos as educational. They inspire me, and I'm sure others to hunt properly and responsably.

I know your channel isn't a cooking based one but could you possibly do more of these please, maybe some other dishes you like or have wanted to try?

You're easy to listen to and must be an interesting chap to know personally.

    Keep it up fella!

  • @JDevereaux1984 Thank you very much for your comment and yes i hope to do another vid on wood pigeon at some time.

  • @JDevereaux1984 I agree 100% percent my friend

  • To save the hassle of having to prepare it after it has been soaked in the brine, would you recommend jointing it before the overnight soak? Thanks and love the videos.

  • The hunting community needs more people like this. I've had rabbits as pets and care for them greatly, yet I'm not in the least upset by your videos - its rare you see someone as respectful towards their prey as yourself.

  • @aspudgun Thank you very much, that is a very nice comment from someone who doesn't hunt themselves but understands someone who does.

  • You make great videos. I love how I can watch you hunt the rabbitt in one, dress it in the next, and then cook and eat it in another. You inspire me. This is how man should live. Kill his food, and prepare and cook it himself. I greatly admire you and your videos and hope to see more. God bless.

  • "Keep the peace" XD I get you bro great videos, Subcribed :D

  • @votran333 Thank you, can you tell my wife that too.

  • I love your vids. Your the best I've seen at hunting, cooking, and cleaning lol. But I have a question, do you think a Gamo big cat is a good air rifle?? For squirrels and rabbits etc.??

  • Great info. Keep up the good work.

  • Amen to keeping the peace!

  • @mattnsim Too true.

  • Also can I used preserves got this recipe

  • I have one question. The rabbit still tasted a kinda of funny. What should I do? Should I had more salt to the brine or white finger? Or is it the brine at all? Could it be seasonings I put on the rabbit which was flour and season salt. Thanks for the view and keep up the good work.

  • great vid ,, you and your vids was the thing that got me in to airgunning and hunting ,thats all i think about now,, thanks , also iknow what you mean about keeping the peace, lol , also in your expiereance could someone get a FAC if they had a criminal record even though its minor stuff, would it matter . thanks again...

  • @charleyBIGspuds1 It really would depend on what the record was and how long ago it was, but if you go to a fire arms dealer or gun shop and tell them your circumstances they should be able to give you a good idea what your chances are.

  • if and when you do a vid or dvd ill defo have a couple of copies , your vids made me love tand iv taken a good few rabbits and woodies over the past year so thnx u very much and have a great christmas

  • @spudmanchronic Thank you very much and i have just released a DVD called Corvid Chaos which you can buy from Blaze Publishing on 01926 339 808, there is an add for it on AirgunTV.

  • @HuntersVermin is your new dvd just your youtube vids put on a dvd?

  • @Psycho12345123 Oh i am not sure but if you ask when ordering it they should be able to tell you. Blaze Publishing on 01926 339 808.

  • I gotta tell you, you really make me want to try out rabbit hunting. I live in the US so i have to check local regulations but you but im going to make my own video with your recipe and respond. I enjoy your videos very much. I feel well informed. Keep up the good work my friend.

  • @godmello Thank you very much for your comment.

  • Fairplay that looked lovely lol, i've never heard about the salt and white wine vinegar tip though. New to me but i'l give it a go...Yeh, you really should do a promotional hunters DVD, easier said than done i know but hey, you'd have my order! You could call it: "Shoot it, cook it, eat it!" Keep the vids coming and i'l enjoy them while they're still free lol =]

  • @TheFuelFreak Thank you and i am looking at doing an air rifle hunting dvd at some time.

  • looks great, hope you do more videos like this

  • @GunsNstuf Thank you.

  • Are the Testicles safe to eat?

  • @Redx130000 I have no idea and to be honest i wouldn't even want to put my own testicles in my mouth never mind a rabbits little furzy pair.

  • @HuntersVermin Ha ha they taste great!

  • Great stuff have watched all your vids brilliant really good. keep them coming.

  • @SuperSalacia Thanks glad you liked them.

  • Love your videos, very well structured keep up the good work. Just one small point to help you. When you use silver foil to cook, always put the shiney side to the inside not the out side this will reflect the heat in to the meat. It will also keep your food hot for longer if you are taking hot food out with you.

    Kind regards.

  • @MegaPolarbear1 I never knew that thank you very much, and glad you liked the vid.

  • Can you do a guide for birds please?

  • Great video, you could really save someones life with this knowledge,

  • thats a weird sink

  • i was just wondering how easy it would be for u to make one big video of everything u do ie; hunting tips shooting tips stalking tips rabbit tips and cooking tips , because i would defo buy it maybe u could make a series of each indavidual ,,, that would be awsome . keep em coming ..

  • @mrrabbiteye I have thought about the idea of a hunting DVD and maybe some day i'l manage to do just that.

  • @HuntersVermin cool , well i'll be waiting.lol

  • Just wondering, would hickory bbq sauce be a good substitute for chutney?

  • @ectoplasem13 Yeah sounds like a good idea. Yum

  • Very informative

  • @Agumon5 Thanks.

  • i have the same pl8!!!!

  • @MrAirgunMadness Thanks.

  • That made me so hungy I want to go get my air rifle and go in it the farm by me just to have dinner ^^

  • hey great vid mate you should actually write a book on rabbit hunting techniques and cooking techniques i usually stew rabbit but am itching to try out your recipe

  • @taidgh15 Thank you, glad that you liked the vid.

  • i shot my first rabbit yesterday, gutted it and cleaned it. i didnt check for mixi, its eyes looked healthy but i didnt check the liver or anything like that. what can it do to you if it does have mixi and you eat it? is there a human version of it? lol

  • @SamDarling196 If it looked healthy with bright eyes it should be ok. I have been told that people can't catch mixi and i have never heard of anyone that has ether thankfully.

  • @MessIahmake Thank you.

  • i've never eaten rabbit before.

what does it taste like ?

  • @666hellraiser1 A bit like chicken or turkey.

  • i honestly think your No 1 on utube at the moment, your vids are very relaxing, informative and a pleasure to view. You should write or do something fo ran air rifle mag etc.

  • @TheBoofdog Thank you, i have written a few air gun DIY articles for Airgun Shooter.

  • @HuntersVermin your videos are very informative and peaceful indeed!!!...

  • @tenjinnim Thank you.

  • how long could you keep a rabbit in its skin form and where should you store it, thanks

  • @jintiable I shot it the night before and kept it in a frige, but the quicker you skin and gut them the better.

  • Brilliant and handy video I'm off to get some rabbits now and I will try this in the morning thanks!

  • @vermincontroller Thanks.

  • This is probably a stupid question but what is "chutney"??

  • @x8MexInTex8x Its like relish but with bigger chunks of fruit.

  • The one person who disliked this can't kill a rabbit.

  • @ncmpracer13 Its that Bugs Bunny who keeps disliking my vids.

  • Yesterday I cleaned my AA 410 with your pull through, today I shot 3 rabbits on your bipod and skinned them 'your way'. I love all your films, thanks ever so much :-)

  • @ericthalfbee You welcome.

  • Respond to this video... geat videos im from canada and these are very inspiring they have made me want to hunt

  • @xX2Birds1StoneXx Thank you, i'm glad that you have found them so inspiring.

  • Now that looks nice, bet it tasted better! Will have to try chutney next time I get a rabbit.

  • That's a lot of work but looks really good. Do you mostly hunt rabbit?

  • @123456789DYL Yes at this time of year i am after rabbits most of the time.

  • Your video are good..clear..informitive..concise and you don't rush it ..well done please keep up the video's..Thanks

  • @justabrit Thanks for the nice comment.

  • "Don't forget to do the dishes to keep the peace." Words to live by.

  • do u ever snare rabbits

  • @TJ41238 Once when i was a kid but not with much success.

  • thanks for the film the chunky sounds like a nice idea ill try that one next time

  • Brilliant videos thanks for taking the time to make them very much appreciated

  • @lilvfr400boy Your welcome.

  • Can you tell me the ingredients again and write down what u did at the beggining thanks planning on doing this

  • @MartinT916 After washing the rabbit i leave it in a water salt and white wine vinegar mix over night, then i pan fried the meat till golden drown and wraped it in tin foil with some olive oil and mango chutney and put it into the oven to cook through. There,s really far more detail in the video though.

  • LOL i put the rabbit in2 a plastic and put it in2 the fridge after i skinned it and cleaned it out but 4got 2 tell my granda what it was and when he brought in the plastic bag 2 me he asked me what type of meat it was and i just said "Ever wonder what bugs bunny tastes like?"

  • dont forget to do the dishes boys looooooll

  • Nice set of instructional vids you've done mate. Can't wait to get the new rifle set up and practiced with before bagging and cooking something as tasty as that looked. Gonna subscribe and watch the rest of your work.

    Cheers for sharing

  • @kobudo4 Thanks glad you liked it.

  • i must say, its by far, the best video ive found, and you made me hungry at 22:56 !! xD

    Keep up the work :)

  • @PatriotXIII Thank you glad you liked it.

  • thank you

  • another great vid m8 got my 1st kill lastnight and done what you have showed looking forward to eating thx keep up the great vids

  • @durexjim Thank you.

  • Thanks I made some stew last night turned out great!! Salt soaked it then just boiled it in water shredded the meat from the bone and put it in the crock pot with the right fixins 8 hrs later it was on the table and delicious

  • @Aweber87 Yum sounds good.

  • Is rabit blood bad for you? I shot a bunny today. But I hit him in his ribs.. I shoot with a .22 and his meat was Pritty bruised and full of blood from his top ribs to his lower chest.. The hind leg meat was good so I kept it. Is blood in the meat bad? Also what about a little leftover blood from cleaning?

Also I new of salting the meat for around 24 hrs.. I totally forgot. But if I do in the AM is the meat still good? I had planned on eating tomorrow night

  • @Aweber87 If you keep the meat refrigerated it should be ok, wash off any blood in the body cavity and cut away any damaged meat and you should be fine, i don't believe blood is bad for you as the meat is full of it when the rabbit is alive, just make sure you have cooked it right through.

  • I've never bothered to brine them but I'm from the South USA (Yup I'm redneck) we just dredge them in milk/egg mix then in flour with some salt and pepper and pan fry on med/hi (probably about 6 or 7 depending on your stove) I've never noticed a gamey taste.

  • @TheQuinian That sounds like a nice simple way of cooking them as well, thanks.

  • @TheQuinian that sounds pretty good

  • If i like gamey tasting meats, could I just skip the brine solution step?

  • Now I really want to go find a few rabbits.

  • Good work m8 keep it up you legend

  • @TheCamie97 Thank you.

  • keep the peace...legend

  • I got a mean hanker`in for some bunny now!! Looks good and rabbit is one of the best tasting game animals there is ...looks like bunny....tastes like chicken!! I`ll have to try the chutney idea....yummy!

  • Huntersvermin, I cooked it just like you did it, but I also baked some onions with it, and I let it in the oven for 30 minutes @ 180 degrees C. Along with salt, pepper and chilisauce before putting it in the oven. Boiled some potatoes and took some apple sauce too. Before the rabbit, we ate champignonsoup before we ate the rabbit. Served the rabbit with beer! goddamnit, it was so tasty! I'm still stuffed now

  • @Guerilla1337 That sounds like a first class meal sir well done, but could you please not swear in your comments, thanks.

  • Awesome Vid, Only started hunting rabbits will be trying this method. Thanks, you give a good reputation to hunters... Cheers

  • @jezzar6 Thank you for your nice comment.

  • i tried this recipe, i found the meat very tough. i left it in salt and cider vinger over night. i didnt know how long to fry it for so i just guessed. might try stew next time

  • I find that using cider viniger makes the rabbit meat have a really nice, deep flavour. i would reccomend trying it. (Be generous with it ;)

  • @eat4peace Ahh sounds good thanks.

  • I like blueberry sauce with a tiny bit of rosemary :P

  • @poopdog007 Now thats an idea.

  • How long do you let them brown before you put them in the oven? also how long do you put it in the oven for?

  • @AwesomeAlex420 I kept them in a hot pan till they just start to go a nice golden brown color then put them into a hot oven at 180 degrees Celsius ( 350 Fahrenheit ) for about 10-15 minutes or until its cooked through.

  • @creebly There was in the legs like a chicken but the two pieces i cut from the back were bone free.

  • KEEP THE PEACE haha love it ;)

  • Great job skinning it and cooking, you have one more subscriber :)

  • @AwesomeAlex420 Thank you very much.

  • like the ending about the dishes. i got a squirrel the other day cooked it and never did the dishes and my mom got mad...... learned my lesson

  • @Danny12381 Always do your best to keep the peace.

  • instead of putting the chutney on the rabbit what would another nice sauce to use. and also do you have to put a sauce on?. thanks

  • @applemaster47 You could try anything you like really, like maybe some garlic butter, i just like mango chutney.

  • Hey it mrbunsjr here but I got a new name that was inspired by you (huntersverminrocks).

Can you please make a video about all that you carry with you when you go hunting I think it would help me and a lot more people to hear what to carry.

    Thank you!

  • @Huntersverminrocks That wouldn't be a bad idea for a vid some time, but what i take depends on what i am after, for the rabbits though i try and travel light so as not to hinder the stalking.

  • Thanks for all the great videos! I appreciate how you respect the animals as well as nature in general (as many hunters do). I was wondering though, here where I live (California, USA) they recommend that we wear rubber gloves when cleaning rabbits to keep any possible infected blood off of our skin. Do you have to do that where you live?

Apparenlty there are certain bacteria/diseases rabbits carry (Tularemia, RHD (RCD, VHD) and Myxomatosis (though they say humans can catch Myxy) to avoid.

  • @TheStupidMonkey007 To be honest i never have used gloves when cleaning out game as i am used to getting my hands dirty, but it is still a good idea to wear gloves or use tongs when lifting shot vermin around farm yards like rats and mice.

  • hi mate are you a chef as your day job or what is your daytime job

    cheers

  • @sillybillyballs Well i am actually a joiner by trade.

  • I have been hunting deer and other game for awhile now. I just bought a Reminton Vantage 1200 air rifle to go rabbit and squirrel hunting. your videos have helped me alot with stategies and cooking ideas. I am going to cook my first rabbit just like you did. Im from america and I was wondering what a "chautney" is? I dont know if I spelled it right but the mango sauce stuff you put on it. Maybe a dressing for salad? Please write back, Im very interested.

  • @zrules132 Hi ya, a chutney is another form of relish really with chunks of fruit in a tasty sauce.

  • @HuntersVermin Thank you. I will have to look for it at the store.

  • Very informative thanks. I've just started hunting with a HW 100 and getting some results thanks to your videos. And now I'm preparing and cooking the rabbit now. Your a legend !!!
