Learn to sing a bit from your diaphragm, push up from there and let the air make your voice sound more solemn and believable. You could sing well, just practice it man.

i play this acousticly sometimes, and i play it in drop d too, mainly because im way too lazy to tune it down to drop c haha. but i think it still sounds pretty good in d. and yeah i agree you can't do screams with an acoustic, it just doesnt work, maybe whispers would tho? idk seems like it might haha. but really good cover man.
