  • He's singing like bring Crosby way !

  • Good old London is was born there and love it

  • After the attacks of 9/11,this song made me think of NYC.

  • I don't like his accent. He's certainly not cockney D:

  • London looks great.

  • This should be London's Anthem

  • shame you dont show the REAL london.

  • "Every blitz your resistance toughening..."

    That says it all!

  • A superbly evocative song.

  • BEST CITY IN THE WORLD!!!!

  • London ALWAYS a city of mass immigration. French, Italian, Dutch in the Middle Ages, Hugenots, Irish and Jews later. Then every nation. That´s what makes it so rich, varied and special.

    A very special place!

  • people arent objecting to immigration per se

uncontrolled immigration because of some theoretical european membership is what is causing all the panic and resentment and the immigration you talk about was tiny in comparison to what has happened over the last 5 years

the rich parts of europe are swamped and the poor parts are empty

its a disaster for all of europe not just London

but the damage is done now London is ruined

  • fools who attempt to place this song as merely a song of the period, period style yes, but a song that still applies to Everyone.

  • London really is a beautiful city.

  • Coward's London Pride has always made me cry

"Early rain and the pavements glistening - all Park Lane in a shimmering gown"

    Brilliant

  • In Flanders fields where the poppies grow row upon on row ... nice moniker.

I was a Noel Coward fan from an early age and I've always loved this song. Coward said the inspiration for it came about as he was waited for a train in a bomb damaged station following a blitz raid. He couldn't help but be struck by the sense of normality that prevailed as Londoners, chipper and gay as always, picked their way through the glass and rubble and got on with the day. Good on you Noel & IFF for this.

  • The video was fantastic, but Noel Coward singing his own song was even better. I bought that recording in London on a visit in 1979. It had a rendition of 'Land of Hope and Glory' from the last night of the Proms on the opposite side. I think I found it in the gift shop at the V&A. I wore it out and haven't be able to find it on CD, but I prefer your video and I'll look for LoHaG here on YouTube to go with it.

  • iTunes is your friend xxx

  • Ne-Ne-Ne-nEgRo! Hi!

  • Oh yeh and London was Blown to bits during the War . its a great place and always will be, NO MATTER what you throw at it, or How so ever it changes.

Dinosaurs got extinct and hopefully so will some hateful attitudes.

The reality is perpetual change, and no matter WHERE you go it will also eventually change.

Tolerance and greater understanding is needed by all.

  • Is that Noel Coward singing?

    Can anyone confirm that.

I love this song, and Im not sure if its him or jack buchanan.

    Thanks

  • Yes it's him. x

  • The whole history of London is one of immigration. Start worrying when no-one wants to come. And ponder the irony of putting these comments onto a song written during a war against a regime peddling race hate.

London hasn't "gone" - it's always been a city that changes, so old stuff gets knocked down - sometimes regrettably.

In the context of moans about immigrants and drug crime, mentioning Hong Kong is presumably a joke that's gone over the heads of the BNP/NF contributors.

  • minority immigration has happened in London as with any major city - but look at film on youtube of London 50 years ago

    It was a white city

Dont re-write the history of the indigenous people - I find that offensive

What people are angry about in London is unmonitored MASS immigration

London is like living in an airpoet - no-one feels they belong anymore - even the indigenous British

  • Why do people re-write history with the "it was all so brilliant in the 1940'/50's" crap. I was brought up in a Battersea St where the next door neighbour kicked his wife to death and the family a few streets away paid the milk bill with their teenage daughter. Whole families were wiped out by TB. There were more white people - wow! Poor sods.

Maybe all the Asians and Afro-carribeans hadn't been demobbed yet from fighting the Germans.

  • I watched this video and felt goosepimples of nostalgia. I left London over 30 years ago. Nowadays, when I go back for a visit, I look for the London I knew, but it's gone. I scarcely recognize London these days. Still, now that Londoners have finally seen the light and sent Red Ken packing, perhaps there's still a chance for the old London, the london that I knew and grew up in.

  • eeehm wonderful. i think i remember that jeremy irons sung(right?) this on "last night of the proms" in 1999. reminds myself of going back to london. i can´t believe that my last visit was 3!!! years ago. if it wouldn´t be so expensive for a tourist...and a student...

  • Why did you put Jack the Ripper in the middle of this? I didn't know about this song, or this flower... I think it should be the theme song for the annual London Pride celebrations... imagine the camp fun! "Gay Lady Mayfair in the morning..."

  • ripper?

  • at about 1:58 to 2:00 a dark figure in the fog, looks like a screenshot from From Hell or some other Jack the Ripper movie...

  • no.. it's not.. but you're not entirely wrong! Jack the ripper walk :P

  • Wonderful images, and Coward's oh-so-British voice blends in beautifully. Thank you!

  • just like you're not a racist, I am not someone fixed in the past. yet the history ought not get wiped out. you say you wouldn't impose your ways on foreign places and I quite believe you. the fact is that britons before you did go to those places and did impose their ways on them. this is not a good/bad stuff, just like the world ain't black and white. what I mean is that issues like immigration and cultural struggles simply go way beyond our personal reality.

  • the worst people to spread racism are the pc crowd, do you really think an imigrant coming to these shores wants to upset the people indigeonous to this country?

  • baaaaaaangg banggg! ldn get 2 n0

  • I've had the good fortune to visit London twice and it's a beautiful city indeed. Nice people too.

  • God Bless our dear Island and our Capital City London, and Cardiff and Glasgow - you can't have a proud to British festival anymore - what has happened to us we've all been duped and hoodwinked into toeing the line with this load of muck we have in Downing street, the Welsh assembly and the Scottish Parliament. They don't stand for the common man and woman in the street but for their own political carpet bagging ends!

  • i agree its sad.

  • Support BNP

  • Solidarity the new British Workers Union. Help the movement. Help save England and the UK!

For details read The Voice of Freedom.

  • What a shame London no longer has any pride. What a shame Ken Livingstone and the Maxists took control under various guises. What a shame! It is up to the rest of the UK to come to London's rescue for the sake of England and the UK. We English still remember when it was our Capital City.

  • Very pretty. Lovely pictures, and Noel Coward's finest song.

  • we've been calling London 'Rio de jainero' for years,a wonderful mix of Multi faith, race, carnivals and culture, oh yeah and no go areas, drugs & prostitution sold openly, powerless police, indigineous folk living in terror -apart from the ' Socailist ' elite that is.

  • This song would be better suited to a Routemaster being filmed from the front going around London in the evening!

  • Nice bit of nostalgia. Unfortunately that London has now gone it appears forever to be replaced by a sea of third world immigrants with no pride in this once great city.Pity the indigenous Anglo/Celts left.

  • London is still a great city! Always have been and always will be. :)

  • Couldn't agree more. I am proud of my Anglo heritage, thank god I'll be out of this ethic minority loving hell hole next year.

Thanks alot to the chap that thought up multiculturalism. I would like to bludgeon you to death.

  • It's just as diverse in the UK... you wanker. Why don't you do us one better an go kill yourself.

  • Oh no I disagreed with your opinion! I'm sorry but you want this one world bolloks your going to have to put up with what my (and judging from other comments the vast majority) views are.

  • So, Mr Orange, how does it feel to be an immigrant?

  • London Pride is a lovely pint of bitter brewed by Fuller's.But London has become a stinking multi-manured society, and I live on the edge of it,

The only good thing where I live is we get a good vote for the NF, it now beats Labour, and this used to be a Labour stronghold.F*ck Livingstone and his filth who want this effing giant mosque.Pork the ground now.

  • It looks more like the back streets of Cairo these days!

  • it doesn't look like a capital city anymore. It could be anywhere in Europe with hardly any white faces, just pregnant burkas pushing prams with two or three kids in tow.

  • London is a lawless Third World hellhole thanks to sixty years of Lib/Lab/CON misrule of our formerly great country. It used to be a great city - one of the world's greatest capitals. PC Dave and his irrelevent CONServatives (the only thing the CONServative Party is interested in preserving is not Britain but its own power) will do nothing to alter its sad decline into the mire.

VOTE BNP AND SAVE BRITAIN BEFORE ITS TOO LATE.

  • Londonistan is a multi-cultural hell hole.

  • I can't stand London.
