martin scorsese makes the most realistic mafia movies, makes u wonder how much he actually knows about organized crime. by far the greatest director of our time!
I know most Roy Buchanan fans will hate me for saying this, but The Departed brought me here. My favorite guitarists are buddy guy, freddie/albert/bb king, albert collins, jimi hendrix, eddie hazel, peter green, and then a special place for Mark Knopfler, my second favorite, and Duane Allman, by far my all-time favorite. It's a huge joy to hear a talent like Roy Buchanan when I didn't even know he existed before today! That sounds bad I suppose, but you hear everyone for a first time.
@uw10isplaya You have damned fine taste my friend, and no one is going to hate on you for discovering! Roy isn't nearly as well known as he should be, and I for one am glad you enjoy his music (on his behalf). If you don't already know Joe Bonamassa, check him out. He has chops that I had trouble believing at first. (check out his solo act and his group Black Country Communion!)
My favorite scene is with Alec Baldwin and Matt at the driving range and Baldwin talks about the professioal virtues of marriage. Very funny! "Lets everyone know hes not a homo, and at least someone can stand the poor bastard." This slips under the radar.
I don't know if it's just me, but I find this song to be particularity sad. Not saying it as a bad thing, I LOVE this song, but it just seems so sad. :(
@gaara12396 Well it's sad when you think about alongside how Roy Buchanan passed away. So yeah kind of sad as he was superb when doing this live...you could see every little emotion he poured into his playing.
I first heard this, as a 'live' video, on "The Old Grey Whistle Test" back in the 70s - if memory serves me right, it was the first time that public opinion forced the show to air a repeat of a performance
Just finished watching this movie--it was utterly gripping-- When I heard the this at the end I though "Wow", must get this-- but the credits rolled to quick to get who did it -Cue Youtube and up it comes! brilliant renditiion of a country classic-- Patsy Cline would never recognise it, but she would like it. I'd bet. Many thanks for posting this.

Shame that it cuts out before its climactic end
I managed to obtain a 7" vinyl copy of this - full length version with "John's Blues" on the 'B' side
Sadly, my record collection has gone the way of all flesh but I would almost give my right arm to get that disc back
