  • to pass -1 you need to use Game Genie code ZIGPSK, but when you get the flagpole of -1, pause the game and disactive ZIGPSK and you find underwater 3-4. (when ZIGPSK are still activated and you go to -2, are clouds in the level and in the bottom of the screen, mario can gets stuck) When you are in -3 the results are Overworld 3-4, after you completing -1, -2 and -3 you go to -4, but the results are black screen and you need to reset the Wii, NES console or NES emulator.

  • mhh is this now a glitch or an easteregg

  • I do it a lot different. Just crouch jump like he did into the corner but don't break any of the blocks, then once you hit the wall press a again and you make it.

  • It's actually World 36-1.

  • how did you get in the bricks? i once got into the floor and dunno how i ever done it!

  • Tell me why the -1 world was made in the first place. Was it made on purpose for people to find for the hell of it?

  • @verynoname

World -1 WASN'T made on purpose. It is actually a very complicated glitch that confuses the game into creating something that functions nearly like a normal level.

  • Where can I find this for the Wii? I can't see to find it...Thanks!

  • @KittyMoy

    the wii shop channel

    and then virtual console

  • You can't really call it a Famicom anyway.

  • world -1 on the virtual console is completely different then the famicom disk version

  • Man. I kept stressing out when you'd get close to the squids.

  • if you go down the middle pipe you can get to world 5 this way also

  • I haven't considered this game as an option for buying it, but after seing this I might just buy it for the quirks of this -1 world.

  • How do you download or get this game on the wii if anyone knows how please help me or fill me in thanks so much!

  • Um, you would probably have to get your wii hooked up to the internet, then once you've done that you purchase a wii points card and then go to the wii shop channel on the start screen. Once you get there, you put in the code for the wii points card and start shopping for all of the old nintendo games including the old mario games. The wii points card is $20.00 dollars so you can purchase twenty dolllars worth of stuff on the internet through your wii console...

  • wii has the some version as the original system all glitches and cheat but if u needed like another cntroller to do something they fixed that

  • The same way a short Italian plummer can eat a mushroom and grow into a tall Italian plummer.

Regardless, why would someone need to know about the minus world to ask that question? It's possible to throw fireballs on any underwater segment of SMB.

  • its kinda hard to do it at first but you happy once u get there

  • cool!!

  • You can even do it on the GBA version!

  • A kid in my elementary school class said you were supposed to save a mermaid in minus world. Then if you took a picture of the screen and sent it to Nintendo they'd send you all of their games!

  • Let that be a lesson to you. People lie about disparate things.

  • LOL

  • @stryker1121

Sorry, there is no mermaid in the Minus World.

  • I have never gotten this glitch to work

  • how do u save the game bec. when u die they send u back to 1-1

  • But did you know that if you hold down ''a'' (''2'') on the title screen, you can continue from the first stage of the world you died in?

  • I love this game

amo ese juego me encantaria tener la consola virtual

  • yes....

  • YES

  • I read that nintendo purposly left all the original glitches for the wii version

  • yeah cuz they woulda found it by now.

  • Huh...I don't know why, but I just reallized something...how can there be fire underwater?!?

  • How can you use fire with your hands by eating a mushroom?

  • you use a fire flower

  • @lightlink777 search "fire underwater" in google and find your answer. It's possible!

  • I did go to this level at my SNES super mario all-star game too, just taht i did get out of taht pipe and further to lvl 2-1...

  • is there a minus world on the ds lite

  • At 1:12 he should've got hit by the squid!

  • Actually no. If you are standing on the bottom of the ground at the lowest level on the water stage, you can't be hurt by the squid either as super or regular Mario. It's always been that way.

  • actualy, when i left, i got to world -2...

  • the -1 is just a glitch...its supposed to say "2-1" but this glitch...when u beet the level it restarts because of the way you got to the world

  • Of course it is. I think we all know it is a glitch.

  • @AtlasShrugg3d why did the creators make this level?

  • It's actually what the game thinks as World 36-1 but 36 is a blank space. In fact, SMB has only 32 levels, so this "world's" data is actually from 7-2 or 2-2. There is no proper world 36, so you get a level 2-2 that loops because the pipe at the end can lead nowhere else but at the beginning.

  • It's not a glitch. It's in there for a reason (perhaps a joke). Glitches would create shadow worlds and blank areas, not seemingly normal ones.

  • The area is not a glitch - It was designed by Nintento as kinda "test levels" for the game. Getting to the minus world is the giltch.

  • @simplerox333 It's actually trying to say 36-1.

  • at 1:04 and 1:11 u should have got hit but still a cool video though

  • i love the wii included the classic games like this. this is what nintendo is all about!

  • Thank you I've been looking all over for this. I couldn't get into minus world because I forgot you have to duck

  • all virtual console software wasnt edited, so all the hax are still there

  • awesome, gonna try it on my wii too

  • Can you get any mario game on the Wii? from the first to the newest?

  • No. Only console games at this point are slated, and obviously not all of those are released on the VC (yet).

  • With some hacking, I found the American World -2 is an underwater equivalent of 3-4 and World -3 is another equivalent of 3-4, but with overworld graphics.

  • do u HAVE to be big mario to do it

  • yes

  • jump over it not that way

  • he has to go throgh the wall like that or else the pipe will bring you to the regular world. doing it this way causes something to heppen to the pipe that nintendo did not intend to have in it.

  • then explain why they would go to the bother of creating the negative world if they didn't intend it.

  • It's called a glitch. They didn't create it; it's just there due to SMB1's constant recycling of level data.

  • Exactily!

  • so the game created it.

  • The squid things are called bloopers ^_^

  • does this work with the gba

  • nope

  • i pulled it off once but since the pipe was already in screen it still took me to 4-1.

  • i never knew about this til this morning. ive been trying this for about an hour now and cant quite get the reverse duck jump right consistently. few questions:

1)how do you do the jump, is it double tap A or does it involve pushing up?

2)these are rules i observed from all the vids ive seen here, am i right on any of these - A.only fire mario can do it; B.break the 2nd brick only and C.keep the "-" pipe off screen.

    little help please? thanks.

  • If anyone knew but there is a -2, -3 and -4 worlds.

you have to take a certain route on -1 and you can go through the wall at the end

  • Sorry, but that is untrue. There are -2, -3, and -4 on the release opf Super Mario Bros. on the Super Famicom Disk System in Japan, but not on any US version, regardless of which route you take.

  • he's right

  • The NES version is different.

  • Interesting, I had no clue about the secret worlds in SMB. Thanks for the video upload! :D

  • im still stickin with the nes version its alot better

  • it looks cool on the wii. but i'll stick to my nes version.

  • just to tell you he was runig super mario bros on his wii but it is not on a game disk it is an emulation. nintendo just copped it from the orangal game. from the caratage

  • No it is the original game, for the most part. They took the ROM from the cartridge, which is the original game. The emulator is not an NES, of course, but it is able to emulate the NES so that the original game can be played successfully on it.

I realize this might be interpreted as a semantical difference, but it's not purely semantical. Both the NES and the Wii emulator are running the *same* basic ROM.

  • thats what i am saying they did not edit but they should of changed one thing. when you are frie mario and you get hit you should turn in to big mario not small

  • why changing an already established classic gameplay¿?

  • there not

  • just to let you know the squids are called bloopers

  • ive heard that when you get all the coins on the level near the exit warp pipe a block becomes not solid so you can swim though it then you go to level -2 then -3

  • Yeah that is a common untruth spread around on the forums. Level -2 and -3 aren't available on the US version of the game.

  • Belief of that is what's called "blatant stupidity"

  • were you using the wii remote or classic controller?

  • Wii remote.

  • This was done on the Wii? Cool! I'm posting this message from my Wii.

  • In Japan can they also download mario bros?

They have a another minus world if im right. Is there a video on youtube of that?

  • Awesome dude thanks!

  • I think the WII virtual console wanted to keep everything. Everythign gamers loved including the glitches.

  • If the rumor is true, then there exist also a World -2, -3 and -4. You have to go "the right path" and get ALL the coins, then the blocks above the pipe will become transparent and you can pass trough them. You can even fight King Koopa in an Underwater fortress! Maybe it's a hoax, maybe not, but however, it sounds interesting.

  • It sounds you are talking about the Minus World for the Super Mario Bros. game on the Famicom Disk System. It did indeed have something like that, though it didn't require the coin-based entrance you mentioned.

  • you said your not very good i only got to the minus world twice in my life your good

  • I guess in was just a fluke lol

  • My music for SMB1 is faster than that! What gives?

  • Uh I have no idea. It runs on the Wii in emulation, so perhaps it runs slower in that way.

  • 2 questions: This never end?. And: The Wii don't have an level editor for this game?

  • It never ends once you are in it until you run out of time for each life you have left, or you press "reset". And no, there is no level editor on the Wii. I've never heard of or played a level editor for the original SMB. While that doesn't mean one doesn't exist, it likely doesn't for the original NES game or this Wii rerelease.

  • Thanks for this. I was doing it wrong.

  • The reason the glitch is still in it is because the Wii version isn't a port. It's an emulation.

  • not nessecairly, it IS a port, it had to be modified a bit to take advantage of the wii's spec's, it's basically a STRAIGHT port.

  • Who cares whether or not it's a port? It's the game. It works. It has the original junk. Roll with it.

  • Nice video.

  • kool you can still do it

  • YAY! Nintendo did same thing in Virtual Console! It's great to have an original trick!

  • Sweet, can't believe Nintendo kept this in

  • No wonder i was never able to do this, i wasn't doing it right.

  • thank you, the video was worth it now I can be sure that the glitch will be in this version
