Watch a Pre-January 8th copy of Inception. Listen closely when the actors say imagine, reality, and safe, or point pistols. You'll hear the words, Loughner, offin' her, part of the word Giffords, and much more. Some even say they hear, do it.
STASI was watching all the people in east germany.... they had photos and files for everybody ...... by far the best secret service ;) (just joking) he he
Now when I saw this movie originally, I had the impression it was a true story. Then when I googled & went on the Wiki article, it seemed to say that it was completely invented. I was a powerful story all the same. Sorta an Ost-politik Sereno de Bergerac, though the love triangle was even more complicated
Of course this special story here about the writer and his wife and the Stasi-officer buying his book later is invented. But it stands exemplarily for many, many individual fates! Although this story is made up, similar ones happened to hundreds of citizens of the GDR as well as the system is shown in a realistic way, regarding the factor of supervision.
Exactly. I can confirm what BlauerBoo writes because I grew up in the time and place where this movie takes place. This is an examplary story for many individual fates.
Excllent vid. so like here in the usa today. the stasi-homeland security. this film should be seen by everyone interested in trying to keep what is left of their rights and their freedom
I can tell by the vids you have on your profile page...and by your inane comments, that you're one of those "doom & gloom" drama queens. "Ohhhh, things are sooooo bad. The world is about to END"!!!! Grow up. The piddling little Patriot Act is NOTHING compared to the totalitarian police state that existed in East Germany. Did you even watch this movie? Obviously not...or you wouldn't make such stupid over-dramatic comments.
The best German movie in my opinion.

I love this film. We are studying it for A Level German. Best foreign language film I have ever seen :). RIP Ulrich Mühe.

Interesting how they have chosen not to include any dialouge in the trailer, I like that. Superb film.

I watched the DVD of this film at Christmas. Although I can follow it in German, it had English sub-titles. It's an absolute masterpiece.
