maybe this is pointless, but, is it a requirement to have at least one backward tumbling pass in a routine, or is allowed to have just front tumbling passes in all the exercise? (im asking this after watching some videos of Produnova))
i hate watching gymnastics nowadays. Everyone does the same passed, tucked double arabian, 2.5 twist layout punch front, triple twist, double pike. So boring :(
Pretty sure straight back with 2 twists is performed by Yang Yun and not Huang Mandan. But oh well, it doesn't really matter, the montage is about the skills anyway (:
I wonder if there ever gonna be a double - double straight at womans gymnastics, i think that dos santos is able to dot that move, would it be an H move?!?!?!?
@FNiklasF I'm assuming you are talking about the Swede Veronica Wagner? if she has competed a double front pike, she would have to do the skill (and not fall) in a world championships, olympics,or world cup.I have never seen one but would be interested in seeing it.Once she performs the skill, the FIG would have to decide whether to put it in the code or not. They might not have put the skill in for safety reasons, because they don't want anyone 2 get hurt while trying those skills.
Why isn't the quad twist on here? I remember it was in one of Nastia's earlier routines, but is it possible that she didn't perform the quad at Worlds?
@itstheapocalypse No one has ever performed this move at worlds or Olympics so it isn't in the code of points. I have only ever seen Nastia and Patricia Moreno attempt this move, but neither of them were round - they were both more like 3.5 twists with a 1/2 turning skid on the actual floor mat.
I can't believe I miss this until now! Thank you Mostepanovafan, this is beautiful. Yang Yun also did very beautiful double pike back in Olympics 2000 for her AA.
Elemarth let me explain, front tumbling is considered much harder because of the blind landings, its very hard because you cant spot your landings before you hit the ground, unlike back tumbling where you can see the ground before you hit it. Also a double layout is harder than a full twisting double pike becuase, a double layout when you do it you get less rotation and its all in the movement in your hips,so layed out is harder to manage to get around than a full twisting double back piked is.
Who cares to explain to me why front tumbling is always considered harder than back tumbling? And not just in a pass like these - it's the same on the beam. And how can a double back layout be harder than a double pike with a full twist?! I will never understand the CoP.
I could be wrong but sometimes its because its a 'blind landing' for the athlete... they can't see the floor or beam before their feet hit it... or at least not for as long as the other skill...
The double tuck was only changes to a D this January. More people have started doing double tucks this year, but a number of people have actually been doing both in the same routine
norajthx a full in is when the full twist is in the first sommersault. a half in half out is when the first half twist is in the first sommersault and the second half is in the second sommersault. =)
what is the difference between a full twisting double back and the half in half out like patterson does (sorry for the english im french!) and thanks mosterpanovafan, i love your montage, thats great;)
Any ideea why the salto forword straight with 2.5 twists is called a Stroescu in COP? I wasn't able to find a single routine of Silvia doing it! I know it got named at 2001 worlds but the only person I saw doing it at that competition was Stroescu's team-mate, Sabina Cojocar in aa finals.
I have also wondered this, I think the FIG Technical committee just made a mistake (they did the same with the Omelianchik, which Oksana Omelianchik never actually performed)
Really? Are you sure? You mean the Omelianchik on beam? 'cause I think she has performed it (87 worlds aa for example), she just didn't go for the handstand...she did it to a hip support...if I am not mistaken! Anyway, about the Stroescu thing I can't believe they didn't correct it...
Omelianchik did perform a version of the move with 1/4 twist, but the code calls the 3/4 twisting version the Omelianchik and the 1/4 twisting version isn't named. I guess they can't be bothered to change it. In the February version of the 2009 code they spelt loads of names wrong as well...
The reason they are the same is because the half twist at the end makes it easier to spot the ground and the reason that the double front is so difficult is the blind landing
Bridget Sloan is training a triple front currently.
MostepanovaFan, Patricia Moreno competed a quad twist at a ROM vs ESP vs --- meet in 2008. I do not know whether she competed it successfully or not. Thanks for your great guides!
Have read that Lashenova (Natalia) from the former USSR competed a triple back.....dont know if thats 100% accurate though....havent seen it on here!! ok
The double back was upgraded to a D in December's code update. The back layout 4/1 is not in the code as it has never been competed successfully at worlds or Olympics (I have never seen anyone compete it successfully at all)

Thank you! I downloaded a copy of the COP from the FIG website and I just try and remember who did the moves with good form to decide who to use (Or in the case of moves people virtually never perform I just hunt until I find one!)
