I always struggled with the 3D ultimate games and although I played this one, it just seemed like a re-skinned knight-lore. Everything is the same apart from some graphic changes and theme tune on the menu.
There even seems to be magic chasing you at one point which doesn't really fit with the space setting. Also agree that the 'beasties' (love that accent) seemed really childish and trivial.
Ultimate's innovation really had started to slow down by this point. Gunfright is still fun though.
Tough to judge jumps and perspective in these games when first playing them.
The "magic" doesn't belong here really. I don't think they took enough time over this one. It could have been something great to rival Knight Lore. That's what I was hoping for anyway.
I won't say anything about Gunfright at the moment.
I had this, didn't play it too much but I certainly remember the Spectrum really struggling with some of the busier screens! It was also difficult to judge some of jumps over spikes and things because of the perspective
Same here, I dont hit anyone BUT if have to, Elbows, knees, head anything that i have to use to take down the junkies and alcos that want to hurt me and girlfriend.
odd there were so many of these isometric 3D puzzle games, i think the only one i really played was "the great escape", but that might be a totally different category altogether
Using an emulator, is there a way of overiding the slow-down on some of these games?

Yeah, you can turn up the speed on Spectaculator 5.3 from x2 up to x20. Useful for something like Matchday which is so slow.

There was a Batman game like this. The spectrum had a few of these in fact.

Took a bit of playing to judge the jumps in this one. Both Knight Lore and Alien 8 had some slow screens in them.

Knight lore on space setting cant be bad, although it does not match the originall
Even the effects are the same.
They should have changed the sounds a bit

The game is good enough but I preferred the wizard's pot and the castle.

It is a good game but after Knight Lore I was slightly disappointed with this. Still played it a lot though.

What is this "Spectrum" thing you speak of?
Can I but it and eat it?
Frobush 2 years ago
That sould have been "buy" and not "but".
Bugger!

It's the Holy Grail of gaming machines. Inside the Ark of the Covenant lies a ZX Spectrum. It has the power to control anyone who touches it.

Oh, in that case I am not interested then. Have you got any shoes?

I wear sandals!

What? In Scotland? Are you insane! LOL!
Frobush 2 years ago
I am insane, but so is Scotland. You can't get any peace round here, unless you have steel toe-capped sandals.

Glasgow then?

Glasgow is soft unless you go around the housing schemes. Great fun unless you have knife.

Good vid. remember playing this on the amstrad. Did Sweevo's world or Head over Heels come out on the Spectrum ?

Both 'Sweevo's World' and 'Head Over Heels' ARE Spectrum games converted to other formats like the Amstrad.

Im glad that a lot of games came out on the 3 main systems at that time. Thanks.

DM's are what I used to wear. Now all I need is my fists to smack them. Don't shit around my own doorstep though.

I always liked 3d games after Knight Lore. The Great Escape is similar. More in line with Nightshade though.

"isometric 3D"... wow, that's a nice word. . Hope I can find an opportunity to use it in conversation today............:-)
