It's a pretty old footage, I reckon, since the wall of cabinets is still there. he's been using much less amplification lately. But the funniest thing is regardless of what guitar he uses it still sounds very much the same, AWESOME, period.
@mirokor I am a huge fan of Tommy Taylor and have seen him live many times since he started performing with Eric in the mid 80's. Check out Tommy playing with Carson Brock. Kyle Brock's kid has some videos here.
@KlassicStrat72 - He has said in interviews that the ES-335 is his "desert island" guitar. He also has said he recorded all but a short solo section in Cliffs of Dover on the 335. Whatever he plays, he sure makes it sound good!
@javisambora - thats why he uses the dot, gets a humbucker thicker sound, but when rolled down or used with a lighter dist. its thinner and more open, like a strat.
@javisambora From technical view you're right. But it is music. Johnson always proved that no one has his sound, no matter what guitar he played. This are the sweetest rock fingers ever :) and he can make Strat sound dirty, sweet and mufled.
@kramer87 It was a 335 not an SG.

Nothing compares to fender strat. If you are a guitarrist and dont like strats, you dont have soul.

Now all we have to do here is make buckethead understand the kind of rythem being accomplished here , then we could have the perfection we seek.
I have to dream big because thats what it takes.

Eric smokes on the Les Paul!!! I wish he played more on the LP, the boost works well on the solo/distorted tones.

@Guitarrosaurusrex What falvor? Do they have their own wraping?:

I THINK LES PAUL IS BETTER FOR SOME SOLOING PARTS
bus his strat is perfect in bright-clean sounds
he needs something like a music man to hace best of both worlds, but that's just my opinion

EJ and a Les Paul??? When did this ever happen. I am so surprised!

If you read some of the interviews on his website you'll see he grew up playing Lesters. Rare to actually see though, I'll agree.
