Here's something I learned that's actually kind of useful: You can use a bucket of water to lift up rails. It's fast, and saves your tools from damage.

So, you put torches around the cage instead of trying to outright destroy it, is it a bad idea to destroy one? because I smashed a skeleton cage not too long ago...

The level of diamond here isn't that unbelievable, I have an underground map where I'm practically tripping over diamond, nearly have enough for a suit after only a few forays into caves and branch mines. My first deep cave I got like 14 diamond but then fell into lava.

@NoirTiger I am going to assume you put something on top of the chest. You can't open it unless there is a block above it. If not, right-click is what you press to open it.

If none of that works...Then I have no idea how to help you.

@JonoRei Using gunpowder you can make TNT, which can be used to break pretty much anything except obsidian. It's fast, but if you don't pay attention you can easily hurt yourself.

It also breaks all the blocks around what you're trying to get, so if there's a lava pit underneath you can kiss your precious ore and/or diamonds goodbye.

All in all, if you know what you're doing it can be helpful. I don't think we'll see Naka use it much though.

Question, when trying to get out of the huge "diamond mine" as you called it early in the video, didn't the thought of just swimming up-river(If you're quick the straight downpour of water wouldn't murder you if the height isn't as bad as I thought) or using some cobblestone to create a huge pillar to climb out of the ravine where you can easily get home? And besides, that pillar would also be a helpful way to go back down.

something i've thought of is if you're in a cave and there are waterfalls near you, try going up the waterfall and you will probably end up at the surface... worst case scenario:you dig mine straight into the ocean and flood the cave. i've never tried this because i don't have minecraft.

Simple trick to help you find your way back: always put torches on the right-hand wall, then to go back follow the ones on the left. Granted this doesn't help you in your current situation, but I think you walled your own back trail off this vid.

Those are experience orbs. Every time you kill something they drop experience orbs. Those orbs give you levels, and levels can be used to enchant your weapons and I think armor.

Oh well. Best to start digging in an upward fashion. Not straight up, heavens no. Just making a spiral staircase up, build a tower where you come up, and find it again later. Maybe get a map or something.

i only just bought the game after your 3rd part, and i found diamonds after only like 10 minutes in a cave too. im guessing they are suppose to be rare, its my first map and first time playing, but as you said its random, anything is possible.

@iabervon I agree. Normally I would try to retrace my steps when I want to get out of somewhere, but I think it's too late for that by now for him. I'd just use cobble and dig straight up. I know it's dangerous but if you're above lava level it's much safer.

@Ahmed176E No need to dig straight up; stairs or a spiral are much safer, since if you undermine gravel, it'll fall next to you instead of on you. Worst thing that happens is you undermine some gravel with lava on it, and you run away. Best to be paranoid when you've found loot this good. Plus, it would be nice to be able to come back easily, without digging back though all that cobblestone.

I'll just say this, I found a really good way to get down quick if you've hit a dead-end and are still pretty high up is to dig a 2x2 shaft down in a sort of stepping stone matter. Problem is it makes it harder to get back up, but usually if I have a stack of cobble or something I can just make sure I know where that area is and get up there.

I was playing some Minecraft last night - cause this series totes got me back into the game - and I found a deep and really narrow natural hole (Oh god, that sounded terrible didn't it?) that went all the way down to lava. It's pretty amazing how much cool stuff you can find in Minecraft. I'm trying to work out enchanting now, still need to have a go at alchemy too. Apparently you need 30 bookshelves to do the best enchanting '-'

My friend bought me minecraft a bit ago and we we played together. We started a house then went digging. After a bit I went into a cave where I immediately found 6 diamonds. I was new and didn't know what they were so I told my friend "I found a blue and white block, what is it?" We were quite surprised. I continued exploring the cave and about half an hour later I found another 3 diamonds. Then the next day I explored a different cave and I found 5 diamonds. Sometimes you just get lucky.
