  • Without seeing the entire engine, it's challenging to say what it is. It looks like a Merlin (v12, 27L), which had forked rods and four valves/cylinder.

  • Its a V12 for sure. Look at the rods and you will see they are forked on the crankshaft with a second rod in the middle of the fork . These second rods go to the pistons in the other bank of the engine. This design keeps the pistons on both banks in line instead of being slightly staggered (as with a normal V8) and means the engine is a bit shorter.

  • ABSOLUTELY!!! V 12

  • It is a V12.

  • they're saying its v12 but its a strait 6 right?

  • I was kind of expecting a "working" view, but a non "working" view is still almost cool....

  • I don't think it is, buddy.

  • That's not a Merlin, is it?

  • oł jeee its a v12

  • Ive been thinking of how you could make a 3 stroke engine that would be cool

  • nice

  • long stroke engine

  • 7 main bearings, DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder. Impressive!

  • You get that in every 6-cylinder BMW ...

  • wrong...bmw 6-cylinders are in line, not in v

  • also I don't think this has fuel injectors, unlike an inline 6 bmw engine

  • guy guys guys.... its a v 12... xD *sorry to burst your bubble there, 6 either side*

  • ummmmmm they do make v6's dumbshit.

  • They can't be! How would you fit 7 main bearings into a V6?

    Yet: No DOHC!

Each cylinderbank has but one camshaft, that makes the engine a SHOC. At 0:11 and later you can clearly see intake and exhaust roller followers are placed side by side. Impossible in a DOHC.

Still an impressive engine though! What year could it be?

    m

  • This one has a SOHC

  • u got to be a reatard if u dont know how this works.

  • obviously you won't know how it works then?

  • @24nov67

i know how an engine works -.-

  • expensive rocker arms

  • whoa

  • lol

  • very cool! engines are amazing pieces of engineering.

  • Individual cams?

  • V12 baby.

  • neato. It sounded like it was actually building compression with all that hissing going on.
