Doug, Thanks man. You've been an inspiration. For a couple decades, I've been playing rock, jazz, blues, bluegrass etc and I always loved the chicken pickin' but my few attempts at it discouraged me. I was able to pick up a couple things but didn't have any snap. In the last 48 hours of watching some of these vids, I've been picking up the axe and pushing it and I've made some breakthroughs. Just applying the pickin/plucking to some bluegrass licks. Thanks again man. You're a class act!

I'm commenting on the person who thought the video was sped up. Wow, please! I have all of his videos and with some hard work, I learned this song "Burp Rag" at this speed from the tab included with the videos. I'm not too impressed that I learned it because anybody can learn and copy what's written in front of them, what I'm impressed with is a person talented enough to create the song and put all of these amazing sounds together so precisely! Sped up? Hardly. Thanks Doug!

I recorded this Video portion AFTER the audio was already done, that's why it isn't perfect. I tried to (Lip-Sync) with my fingers after the recording was finished... That's all.

Yes, I have purchased all 3 of his instructional dvd's and it has taken my guitar playing to a whole new level. He doesn't get too involved with theory, just the nuts, bolts and meat of what it takes to perfect chicken pickin. Old time guitar instructor here - is it ever refreshing to see a player such as yourself - someone with real chops and substance to what they are doing. I've been watching "shred videos" lately and I see a lot of fast-pickin' players who say nothing with their music. (Not all mind you, but often enough.) What's really cool is that Doug is a great teacher, and he sells video lessons that are awesome. He's extremely humble for being such a badass and he really explains well how to do amazing sounding things. There's no magic to it, it's damn hard work and lots of practice, but Doug is very generous with his extensive knowledge of country guitar and he breaks it down into bite size chunks for us mere mortals to consume one at a time.
