Just because something is funny or "comedy" doesn't mean you don't have to be somewhat responsible in what you do. That's exactly why Chappelle quit his show. He realized that some people knew he was satirizing stereotypes, but a lot of folks were just laughing AT the stereotypes and probably took them to be true.
