Our country the Philippines passed a letter to the UN regarding issues on how to deal with it especially the Law of the Seas under UN where it says that Spratlys fall under our responsibility and care because of Exclusive Economic Zone 200 nautical miles from our baseline.

楊進添也呼籲，相關各國都能夠擱置爭議，共享經濟資源。楊進添：『這個是我們領土所在的海域，當地水域也是我們的專屬經濟水域，我們強調，那個地區我們願意大家一起來擱置爭議，基於平等互惠的原則，共同來開發、共享資源，但是主權的部分，我們是堅持。』
楊進添強調，雖然中華民國不是聯合國成員，但是在南海主權問題上一定要發出聲音，要讓全世界知道中華民國的主張與立場，絕不允許國家權益受到任何損害。
