I've seen practitioners in the 80's with 52 similar to both Big K's and Lytes, it is common 52 knowledge that there are different styles of the art and each prison had their own style (Comstock, Woodburn the list goes on). There is room in this 52 thing 4 all who truly rep it but you want to discredit someone who was learning the art and fighting on the streets of NY when you were living in another state either in the army or fixing computers. Where can someone in the South (TX) like myself learn the real 52? I learned a couple of basic techniques (5) from the Lyte Burly video, and after practicing them through slapboxing i learned to adapt (some) of them to a semi-practical use (never used it in a real fight)... but where could I get real hands-on training out here with the 52?

My understanding from watching the clip is that they are both learning 52. The clip shows them using skills they picked up that day. Not sure how false the advertising is.
Also Nak is an experienced fighter. He'd be a handful 52 or no 52, so there's no shame in him landing more.

No, it was a beautiful day in Harlem. The Constellation seminar was beyond OFFICIAL. No drama, just positive vibes; some amazingly dedicated students and some expert lessons from Giant, Daniel and Kawaun that no one who was present will soon forget.
Darktim99, actually, no there is one seminar (a real boxing, 52, fitness clinic) in a real gym in Harlem -- by constellation. The other one was supposed to go down in the East Village park off Avenue B, but has been "canceled due to inclement weather." Okay, read that for what it is. I don't know Lyte or Rahmel, they may have the hearts of lions; I do know Daniel and Kawaun and I KNOW they are not ducking anyone.
52 has been hidden from the masses for a long time, if anything Burly has obviously created friction among the 52 world and now the "real" 52 stylists are discrediting him and coming out of the closet.

you know people who call them selves "masters" of an art are usually fakes. you can have "experts" in an art. but to be a master you need ot be abvle to use that art/style in 100% of situations and come out on top 100% of the time JUST using that art. shit i've won 90% of all fights i've ever been in. yeah i've lost some who hasn't. but i have MY style which is an 'all in' style. done and doing, judo/submission wrestling for the ground. muay thai/JKD/kali/boxing for my stand up.

I study different fighting forms, because I take from each what I can do and what believe will work on the streets. There are many different styles of JUJISTU and they all are 40% or more the same. But they all are still JUJISTU. So let Lyte Burly do his thing. Grappling on the ground works, but I dont see it in any of the 52 Blocks videos. But I'm not hating on you. So my point is do the things that works for you and let others do their own flow. What works for one doesnt work for the other
The reason we can not do this is because JuJitsu has an established, understood and respected core of understanding. We have to make 52 established and understood so our ancestors martial culture can be respected globally. At another level of this we will have to deal with historians who want to discredit 52 through literature as Squirrley is doing through his false physical demonstrations, we are prepared to fight that battle also.
Imagine if a person put out a DVD calling himself a "true master" and teaching Mantis making it all up, he would be crucified by the community, because Mantis is established and Understood. You need the true traditional arts so the next generations can continue the heritage so individuals artists can create something unique but still have the foundation fundamentals. Its like a painter with platter of different colors rdy to paint on canvas, each color represents a traditional art, and if you mix certain colors you get a whole different color.

In what respectable martial culture do you not have to earn understanding through dedication? Its a part of learning. 52 is no different in this respect. We do not stand full on, this is a deception that encourages a charge or flurry,a trap, a hole that was spoken about earlier, its all in the footwork, come to a seminar and see 4 your self. Pruning of dead or dying leaves is essential for the longevity of any growing thing, why? Dead weight stifles movement and (in our case) credibility.
But I guess because it's all about community and history is being taught, it's all good. In one clip, he calls out Daniel and Big K as representing "esoteric 52," and we all know the name-calling he initiated against Nakmeezy. As for his teacher, I don't know the man, but to use the Youtube moniker announcing "I am Mr. 52" betrays a lack of humility, at the least.

FYI I see plenty of contact in Lyte vs. Dave the boxer. Dave is professional boxer and he and Lyte did 3 four minute rounds. All I saw was Lyte hitting and not being hit. Why block when a person can't deal with your footwork. I've seen practitioners in the 80's with 52 similar to both Big K's and Lytes, it is common 52 knowledge that there are different styles of the art and each prison had their own style (Comstock, Woodburn the list goes on). My understanding from watching the clip is that they are both learning 52. The clip shows them using skills they picked up that day. Not sure how false the advertising is.
Also Nak is an experienced fighter. He'd be a handful 52 or no 52, so there's no shame in him landing more.

The other one was supposed to go down in the East Village park off Avenue B, but has been "canceled due to inclement weather." Okay, read that for what it is. I don't know Lyte or Rahmel, they may have the hearts of lions; I do know Daniel and Kawaun and I KNOW they are not ducking anyone.

you know people who call them selves "masters" of an art are usually fakes. you can have "experts" in an art. but to be a master you need ot be abvle to use that art/style in 100% of situations and come out on top 100% of the time JUST using that art. shit i've won 90% of all fights i've ever been in. yeah i've lost some who hasn't. but i have MY style which is an 'all in' style. done and doing, judo/submission wrestling for the ground. muay thai/JKD/kali/boxing for my stand up.

I study different fighting forms, because I take from each what I can do and what believe will work on the streets. There are many different styles of JUJISTU and they all are 40% or more the same. But they all are still JUJISTU. So let Lyte Burly do his thing. Grappling on the ground works, but I dont see it in any of the 52 Blocks videos. But I'm not hating on you. So my point is do the things that works for you and let others do their own flow. What works for one doesnt work for the other

The reason we can not do this is because JuJitsu has an established, understood and respected core of understanding. We have to make 52 established and understood so our ancestors martial culture can be respected globally. At another level of this we will have to deal with historians who want to discredit 52 through literature as Squirrley is doing through his false physical demonstrations, we are prepared to fight that battle also.

I respectively disagree. You need the true traditional arts so the next generations can continue the heritage so individuals artists can create something unique but still have the foundation fundamentals. Its like a painter with platter of different colors rdy to paint on canvas, each color represents a traditional art, and if you mix certain colors you get a whole different color.

52 Footwork is not boxing footwork either Blackfoot. So even if he did that he would be wrong, come to a seminar you can see what we mean, or you can ASK WHY. Far as Squirrley, we dont know what he's doing, he made it up so he would be the one to know. We know he's had a chinese background Squirrely got admonished from some chinese martial arts brothers just a lil while back for lying too. If you dont know it, dont try to teach it. Its cool to make up martial styles, just dont call it 52.

I think the point being made is that it's just not very competent footwork, JKD, boxing or otherwise. Lyte makes fun of Big K and Daniel for doing "comical" dances in the Fwape videos, but this betrays his lack of understanding: 52 is a form of fighting dance, it is rooted in individualistic rhythm.

Daniel, you know a lot more about prizefighting and punching power than me? Didn't a "fat" guy named George Foreman knock out Michael Moore? I also remember some older ex-champs like Joe Louis (or Mike Tyson these days) get kind of heavyset but I'm sure they still also had "heavy hands," right?

The new motto for Constellation is...ASK WHY! Nothing you will see with us is happenstance, there is a reason, if you see something you don't understand or question, ask about it! This is not to be negative stevieb8006, who are we to say whats called for in a ART we don't truely understand. In life sometimes you have to expose someone or something to be able to clear your mind and find the truth. I'm not saying who's wrong or right in this case but if someone with the true understanding is willing to give advice we should take it and not thing of it being an a negative way it's called Constructive Critiszm and hopefully the True style will prevail. With the greatest respect, 52 or not, lyte is showing more about fighting/defence than FWAPE team (at the moment). FWAPE seem 2 just b all smoke & mirrors. i wouldnt say it cheapens what they are trying to do bc fwape is about the preservation of 52 locks and since lyte is doin garbage and claiming 52 then he is hindering the movement. you say lyte has shown more than fwape, i agree but he hasnt shown 52. the fwape movement understands that 52 is not somthin that should be taught primarily through dvd. exercise patience

Its starting to sound like a cop out all this "you have to earn it" patter. Also, why do 52 guys seem to stand square on? (Obv I dont know the art, but this seems very dangerous and I was wondering if there was a specific reason)

In what respectable martial culture do you not have to earn understanding through dedication? Its a part of learning. 52 is no different in this respect. We do not stand full on, this is a deception that encourages a charge or flurry,a trap, a hole that was spoken about earlier, its all in the footwork, come to a seminar and see 4 your self. Pruning of dead or dying leaves is essential for the longevity of any growing thing, why? Dead weight stifles movement and (in our case) credibility.

I never looked at Lyte as a 52 figurehead or a 52 master. What I do appreciate about him is he was the first person to give me a "visual" glimpse of the 52, even if he is a "baby" in this. You guys wanna talk about PROFIT! That's exactly what FWAPE is trying to do-- PROFIT OFF THE 52! I could care less if you coming with the history or aspects of community. I have a serious problem with this video. Kamau, I recognize your voice and you should be ashamed at getting on Youtube calling this man Lyte Girly and even perpectuating this type of GO-AT concerning another brother, when FWAPE is supposed to be trying to uplift. Real Talk, I ought to post some of the emails from April that I got from a 52 instructor that knows Daniel well, that cast him in a foul light and make me question his "real" motives concerning 52. I wonder how well that would go over.

Let's just be factual rather than emotional. Lyte's videos were up a year ago -- and remain on Youtube -- in which you can see him dissing people all the time. In one clip, he calls out Daniel and Big K as representing "esoteric 52," and we all know the name-calling he initiated against Nakmeezy. As for his teacher, I don't know the man, but to use the Youtube moniker announcing "I am Mr. 52" betrays a lack of humility, at the least.

Great we are looking forward to seeing you there brother for us the community is our INVESTMENT. 52 Block is Black culture and american culture just like the blues,jazz and hip hop, its the only surviving martial culture native to America, passed down from ancestors far back as the early 1800's. Without an understanding of fundementals, you are left with aesthetic without knowledge of how to use it. WE NEED YOU ALL TO QUESTION WHY THINGS ARE DONE, it will keep us sharp and weed out those who look to commodify this culture. All Black culture and american culture is enhanced by creativity but what differentiates martial culture from other types is the importance of lineage and system the "DO" of asian arts. 52 has a "DO." Before we could bring it to you we had to research and document it.

WHY? (ask why) Because we are out to do 52, not make something up or create something new. Were out to expose an existing culture thus we needed to build on the foundation of 5 that exists. Research is imperative, Because if we are going to continue and moreover understand a system of thought had to understand the thinking as well as the movement. THE RESEARCH ALSO ALLOWS US TO SPOT FRAUDS, all we have to do is look for the "DO" the fundementals.
