  • Wonderfully made. Prague has changes so much during the last decade! Here you captured the very same desperate atmosphere so typical of every old soviet communist state... Great work, will be looking out for more!

  • now she's a millionaire!!!

  • what did the ending mean, when she was staring at those containers that said TEX on them.

  • I think if you covered more reaction shots on the Director and AD near the end this would be more powerful as a whole. They were fairly astonishment I presume? It was apparent that she was perfect for the part, right? But, this is simply her everyday life. Is that where you were going with it? Either way your work is pretty awesome. It's a breathe of fresh air coming from a guy in film school... In LA! haha (the line about LA was right on the mark, ugly and deep).

  • The only problem with this is it doesn't end.

  • I wouldn't really call this a story, it's just brief peek at this woman's life.

  • Pretty picture... Wish I knew if she got the part or not though.

  • I want to say I liked it on one hand & on the other hand it was a feeling of wanting more...such as in the scene where she is crying, maybe the impatient & upset director after the scene is either impressed or comments at her unexpected performance, maybe her getting paid & now buying her indulgent habit - smokes and her son a hot dog - along her journey home. I did enjoy the B&W, it was of great quality, but felt cheated.overall I would definitely say a B minus in grade. Wanting to see more...

  • This film is a bleak, sad, very small window into what seems to be a very "alone" world for this woman and her child. The sense of isolation is obvious, including being in the sound booth. So many unanswered questions -- it leaves you visually and mentally suspended. The black and white creates the effect; the opening music also creates the "alone" feeling for me, watching it. It's interesting how she is asked if "she's ever had a bad day before." Especially the way her day started.

  • Um I didn't get it. What was the plot? A woman going to work? And then....?

  • im sorry, i didnt really get it....?

    it was beautifully shot, though!

  • Sparse, nicely shot. I love Thomas' character! I actually laughed out loud during his lines.

    Well done everyone!

  • Excellent film! One of the best shorts I've seen.

  • Thanks for watching it. I'm glad you liked it

  • Really well done! The cinematography and the acting is excellent. There's a Charlie Chaplin comic tragedy quality to it that I really savored.

  • I'm glad you liked the film. And the Chaplin insight is a first. I appreciate it

  • that was good! i think i got the story -understood it, but i dont kno wat it means

    (if that makes any sense)

  • Great film, awesome photography!.

  • The cinematography is excellent. A great short film :).

  • Thanks for your comments. I'm glad you liked the film.

  • What language is this?

  • czech

  • i didnt get the story could some one explain it to me? did she get the part or no? wtf?

  • reminds me of meis van de rohe. great cinematoggraphy...

  • What a terrific film! Acting, music, shots all were amazing. I could really feel for her.

  • Loved it... every frame was a photograph & every line was that from a poem*****

2 B critical, I was enthraled untill it got 2 the studio... Less of the arrogant American producer/studio (didn't need to be so blatant). I was expecting some words from her that touch the audience but meant nothing to him (the producer), the cries were good but 2 long. The end would be nicer if longer, maybe drop the child off at school then she finds a quiet place to cry.

I have no idea what I am talking about!

  • i actually watched this short right after the GOP convention and in some strange way all the talk of moving american manufacturing jobs to other countries seemed to really elucidate this piece for me. In an age where labour is moved to less developed countries, it's not a stretch that even aspects of our cultures (film) can be outsourced for production. It is a non-american that gives life to an american in this piece i think (by crying). the shipping crates echo the exportation theme?

  • Liked the shots of the bee hive flats and the wild undergrowth... sorry I didn't get the story at any depth.

reminds me a bit of alfred hitchcock movies...

a more explicit plot for us plebs could make this style really popular... ie money making

    audience grabbing.

felt like the style could become cult film

    great work

i got here by accident, stayed for the whole movie (initially thought i wouldn't, ) good job lots of promise for next movie.

  • Thanks for your comments Keith. I appreciate your thoughts

    (Omalissi)

    mother of four fatherless children

  • a wonderful film!

  • Thanks for watching. Always nice to hear

  • Good job, guys!

  • Visually it's great... I have no idea what it was really about though. I understand the audition process... but aside from that...?

  • why is did she cry. I think i might be an idiot.

  • For one, all the stress that had built up was finally released, and two, she was doing a voice over.

  • Well done - I will view crying scenes in a whole new light

  • Where did you get this video to post it? Why did it get taken down!!!!?!?!?!

  • Why this video is longer than 10 minuts?

    Sorry by my english...

  • Cheerful

  • Nice. Lightings spot on.

  • Really good

  • Great work - some very gripping shots showing the harsh, urban environment and really well paced.

  • Yeahhh it gives the moviee a deeper darker sense of how hardd it is to make through lifee for some people

  • Do we have to perpetuate images of smoking? Would it detract so much from the film to leave it out?

  • what's the matter w/you? it sounds like you have never left american shores, where legislating what people do is considered a right. a whole lot of people in eastern europe smoke, especially when living in such circumstances. the cigs at least give them something to look forward to. stop being so ethnocentric!

  • I've never been to America.

  • Dear Sir or Madame:

that is a gross overreaction. And having lived in both America and Eastern Europe, I'm quite certain that the percentage of smokers in the states is just as high if not higher than in Eastern Europe.

  • People smoke in Europe. She is a smoker. That's pretty much all there is to say

  • i couldn't understand it at all

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but i liked crying

it seems that she know how to act !!

  • Excellent! 5 stars. Very well done!

  • Thanks for the vid. Please check out mine too.

  • More from this on YOUTUBE! Great!

  • i love some of the shots, awsome!

i like the plot when she dubbing and release all her pressures. good job!

what cam did you use btw?

  • hi-

we shot on an Arri (forget the model number)

    super 16mm Plus-X

  • I liked this short. It seemed very real.

  • thanks for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed it

    ed

  • could anyone please message meÉ i donèt really understand this.

  • it was a very nice piece

  • There's something about black&white that is so magical.

    The dialogue was well done.

    And the shots were amazing.

  • thanks for your comment. I'm glad you liked it

    ed

  • exactly, its a bit forgotten these days... My first short will be B&W also.. a bit easier to achieve on a low budger/no budget production. Dont need to worry on how to get those film like color correction and stuff... Nice piece of work.. One can tell you have an eye for composition...

  • a moving film!

  • i think the director and the others didnt like the way she cried. and this ironicall. because she had to cry for a really fake and cheap movie. the director will probably say that it wasnt real enough which is again ironciall because it was really her when she was crying. it was a real cry. I am not sure about the shipping containers. but i think that they show that she is going to leave all this behind and go away. (shipping containers as a metophar for travel and leaving). Not sure, though

  • Any1 explain the last scene for me?

    Reply. thanks.

  • the crates were abandoned right? i think she got an idea that she and her son would live there. live inside of the crates.

someone here said life is difficult in Eastern Europe. i'm assuming she could not afford to pay the rent anymore.

i also think her crying while dubbing was real. it looked real to me.

nice film i should say :)

  • Gorgeous film

  • Beautiful.

  • i don't understand the significance of the last scene, with her looking up at the storage crates... could someone enlighten me?

  • This has been one of the most beautifully filmed pieces I have seen in a long time. Nearly every scene is would make a perfect photo. Acting was excellent and story was involving yet simple.

    Well done.

  • Wow! i loved it...so simple yet very deep :)

  • I adored this- it was filmed beatifully. Story was both simple and extraordinary at the same time.

  • I thought this was pretty well done..and at least we wont get sued for watching it :)

  • idk....what I got from it was that sometimes when you are just trying to make ends meet, you have to deal with the d*cks in the world. America hasn't had that in awhile. As a whole anyway, some have...persistence and hope will always move you forward.

    Cheers and good job. 5*

  • I feel like the people who say this movie sucks just didn't understand it. I'll keep on thinking that until s/o provides an adequate reason after considering the deeper meaning.

  • i dont get it...

  • Was it a dig at American Directors? I'm confused.

  • life is shet in west europe lol

poor single wooman in chehoslowakia life is shit shit shit

  • you mean eastern europe. life is shit in eastern europe

  • I didn't get the end. Was it a french thing?

  • and your a freaking spammer,go suck a

dick for a living do us a favor.

  • cool

  • I thought she was going to be doing the overdub the the opening scene that she would was in. The overdub would have been the reshoot of how she really felt.

I often say things that are about how I think it should have been which isn't fair at all. I really liked this film. The pace, the cinematography and the editing.

  • what the heck

  • i love the brilliant simplicity of this film

  • very good. all fantastic!

  • ★★★★★ Good video! ★★★★★

  • 16 minutes is a long time on youtube, does it count as a viewing if someone stops watching before the end?

  • I actually really like this. It has a kind of beauty to it.

  • Sorry nothing special... Nic moc ...inak to sydlisko je ako u nas v Kosiciach Lunik 9, ...

  • wat

  • That's rude.

  • This could of easily been a movie, with all the different shots and everything. It has so much meaning, and means something to everyone who has seen it. Thank you for making this.

  • nice movie

  • nice video...nice expression and message

  • the first half intended to mean how hard working a job of a single mother can be..her voice over for the film actually was a facilitation with her emotional breakdown..from what i understood from the film...nice work.

  • I still dont understand why she is crying?

  • She was crying because she was doing a voice over for the lady on the screen. They were using her voice instead of the actors voice pretty much.

  • nice song

  • Nice storyline!

  • if any one calls this shit ill fined u and eat u and your family.

  • nice one

  • why has this only got 3 star rating?: this is a great bit of cinematography! btw what camera did u use?

  • beautifully shot. It's been awhile since I've been to Praha... such a melancholy city. Still love the beer.

  • very well

  • somebody explain this shit 2 me

  • Very Well Done!

  • congrats on the feature!

  • great acting, great photography, congatulations!!!!

  • thanks very much. Glad you enjoyed the film.

  • Quite enjoyed this, good work.

  • ÿØÿà

  • gd vid ★★★★★

  • wertwert

  • wow, really good.

  • People with no idea of true sacrifice, going without, and the pain associated with it that you carry around inside you can never understand this film. It is not about self-pity, but surviving without losing your dignity.

  • Excellent - camera work, acting, plot - all fantastic!

  • this sucks.

  • just because you dont understand it doesn't mean it sucks

  • cool

  • Wow! My god! That was awesome! I love the pictures... There is so much love details... really great! You barely need voices to explain the pictures or tell the story. I also love the "chain of missunderstanding" in the studio - just great!

  • not good

  • Truly what this world needs a little more, true expression

  • booooooooooo

  • wow
