I think the videogame industry has suffered quite a bit since SEGA volunterly left the home console scene in 2001, although Dreamcast games are still getting made in 2011! and more planned in 2012!! it's not marketed in a viable sense.

SEGA never actually left the hardware industry though, they still produce their own SEGA made Arcade consoles, they only stopped the 4 year straight loss making home console business for the time.

They could come back at a later date though.

@DustyPengwin They can't just rush back in the home console market until the time is right, in the mean time though, they are raking in profits for their Arcade Console hardware division and Home console software along with their several other revenue streams.

They still failed to please the hardcore fanbase. Episode 1 was one of the most upsetting and heartbreaking games I have ever played. It just SUCKED...big time.

okay to be fair I can understand What they are doing now but it would have been nice to hear this 10 years ago so all the gimmicks would have been more accepted

Sega needs to learn keep it to one aspect why change what wasn't broken? Adventure series was great for the 3D world and hell if you got the balls for it do what your doing with Sonic 4 and keep making 2D games.

My first Sonic game was SA2B. I never had any SEGA console back in the 90s. I only had an SNES. I wasn't much of a SEGA fan, but I always liked Sonic. What got me into liking Sonic in the first place was surprisingly AOSTH. As of now, I managed to get a hold of a SEGA Genesis with Sonic 1 and Sonic Spinball.

same here, i was a extreme fan of sonic when i was little, i would draw him and talk about him nonstop. i loved sonic so much that i still like his games to this day. although i have to admit now that i'm older and have more important priorities, i simply look at sonic as a game franchise that i like to play. well heres hoping for project needlemouse.

That's how I feel. I played the game since I was born. Beat them at a young age (eh, tha'ts because I'm the same age as the franchise) I also drew him the most when I was little. Suprisingly I am now an artist and can draw him very well, although I was forced to never draw anything related to Sonic at school in 2nd grade because of it. But as stupid as that was, I learned to use the huge and creative imagination I had to make something, now I can draw lots of things.

I've always liked Sonic. I was called a Sonic addict. But at the same time I never wanted to group myself as a "fan" or feel like a groupy. (not to mention these "fans" are all jerks. Usually the ones of something original like classic fans to new fans or Drummon fans to Griffith fans. All jerks. Which is sad because I'm a fan of both and they make it look bad) I can admit when there's stupidness or flaws but overall I liked Sonic always. It was cool. And I will probably like this one too.

Yeah, I don't really care and if you notice that it's pretty natural if you notice with the history of the main Sonic voices (exluding Martin Burke) Sonic's voices get deeper like a real person. Voices are Jaleel White, Drummond and Griffith.

that's just because after one actor voices a character using a voice higher pitch than their real voice, it's hard for them to maintain it for such a long time. At the start of each Sonic character (except Ryan Drummon) it is high pitch and then gets deeper (Sonic SatAM to Sonic Underground, beginning of the movie to the end, beginning of sonic X to Sonic and the Black Knight) Ryan, however, had a deeper voice from the start and went higher into Sonic Heroes.

@SonicPAJ I respect the 2D side, but I dont understand why people found them fun. FOR ME, sonic doesnt fit side scrolling platforming. Now for mario it makes sense because hes slow and brakes blocks and stuff. Everytime I play the 2D old sonic, I get so frustrated becasue a stupid spike or whatever would hit me and I would lose all speed and rings. Im just not a side scrolling gameplay person. But I think platforming fits 3D sonic games more, you can see where the hell you are actually going.
