No, the SW1 has 600bhp with a V6 567. I'm thinking the SW6 you're referring to is actually an SW600. You are correct in that it also has 600bhp with a V6 567. Just an uptaded version of the SW1. The 1000bhp loco I'm guessing you're referring to is the SW1000 or SW1001. It has the V8 1000bhp engine, but with the 645 version instead of the 567. EMD never made, to my knowledge, a 1000bhp V8 567 engine. The closest they came was with the SW900. It has the V8 567 but with 900bhp.
At the Wilmington & Western we have 2 SW-1's and they are in as good of shape as they were when they rolled out of the shops when first being done built
just so you know they are #114 and #8408 plus we have 4 steam engines 2 run one needs a little work and the other needs alot of work plus we just sold one we will miss old #37
She sounds great! I am apart of the Milwaukee Road Heritage Center in Montevideo, we have the old NSP X-5 SW1 from the Granite Falls plant. For a 70 year old locomotive she turns over like a champ!
The Specs says it's a EMD 6-567A engine.

@huettmr You forgot about the NW2 which has a 1000 hp 567 engine and was built roughly around the same period as the SW1.

@tpvalley Your thinking of the NW2. which has a V12 567 engine that produces 1000 hp.
