  • I love this series... it just that every bad guy here seemed to die after 2 episodes and sorts.

  • We need an arkham city of this.

  • @Trex10100 Hell yeah. A "Batman: Arkham Beyond" or something :D

  • @LordManda2 Arkham Beyond sounds genius

  • Thumbs up if you think blight looks like a Glowing one from fallout

  • There used to be a funny comment on this video that said the following:

    0:11 SUPRISE COCKFAGS!!

  • @Tech14Guy "I never asked for this."

  • @runsaber1 what the fuck...

  • Anyone notice that Blight is the Beyond version of the Joker? He's a criminal that was disfigured by chemical exposure in a battle with Batman. Except it made him green instead of white.

  • @ShadowSonic2 Sort of.

But then, Batman Beyond had the movie with Joker actually in it, so there's that.

  • @ShadowSonic2

Even closer similarity if you compare the Joker's origin in the 1980s movie where both are responsible for the death of the hero's father.

It's a good spot, though Joker was more of an accident and a lot of Batman's villains were formed via unhappy accidents which Batman had some relation with.

  • I kinda feel sorry for Blight. He didn't ask to be a freak

  • @Tech14Guy Ffft, yes he did. He designed the toxin that nearly killed him and ordered the radiation treatment that turned him into a glowing skeleton.

"Now everyone can see Powers for what he really is. Even in the dark."- Terry

  • @Tech14Guy so he is the adam jensen of batman beyond?

  • it should have en when freeze kills doctor lake

  • @SharkNinjaBlueStar I think he's a radioactive ghoul after the fallout and dwells in the sewers with mole rats

  • What's Bilght's backstory, anyways? Is he radioactive or electrically charged?

  • @SharkNinjaBlueStar He is the victim of a nuerotoxin that he devolped, in the first epsisode, terry accidentally exposed him to it, by damging a container he became infected, and later had to have massive radioactive thereapthy to kill the infection, the radioactive effects are bonded to his cellar make up, and in effect has made him a walking meltdown, but it's slowly killing him

  • Webster's Dictionary defines the word "blight" as "anything that kills, destroys, etc." Perfect name for a supervillain, huh?

  • LoL Blight: The combination of Black and White.. give you THIS?!?

  • is that atomic skull?

  • Blight's design is so freaking cool. He should have had more screen time.

  • I hate that Blight only appeared in around 2 or 3 episodes.

  • Hold 2 for strobe effects.

  • Blight was so sorely underused in this series.

Instead they wasted time to carbon copies of marvel characters - Spellbinder (mysterio), Stalker (Kraven), 2-D Man, Freon & Magma (the Fantastic Four).

And badly developed characters - Willie Watts, Armory, and Big Time.

  • @Xerock Spellbinder is actually an old batman villian from the 60s that they just reinvented for the future but I agree with the rest. To be fair though, the series did get canceled prematurely since I believe the creators stated season 4 was supposed to feature blights return.

  • @bigsexy1234567

Yeah, I know. The creators left to do Justice League - hence the episode Epilogue.

Spellbinder still sucked. All Illusionist characters do.

  • @Xerock I liked the episode where he framed terry for mad stans murder but I have to agree that for someone with his technology and pedigree, he sure thought small. I would say Fantomex is the exception to the illusionist rule though.

  • @Xerock On Willie Watts he had potential and Armory only really worked as a one off and was pretty cool. The others I definitely agree Blight should have been thee big bad for beyond.

  • @blazing1shadow2drag3

Oh I wont disagree. Watts had great potential. But instead of keeping his ability as power over electronics, they turned it into flat out telekinesis, changed the look and ruined the character.

If Armory had lost his new family because of his actions, he could have made a good recurring character with a need for using his weapons to get regain everything he lost. Most times, though, they gave characters no possibility to return. - like Earthmover.and Robert Vance.

  • @Xerock While I highly agree, Willie Watt had massive potential because he was such a realistic character. He needed more than two episodes, for sure. Big Time should have only appeared once, to remind Terry that he's chosen his path in life and he's not going back to what he once was. Armory, yeah, fuck off.

  • @SnowyWolborg

Are you implying that Armory should fuck off or that I should fuck off?

  • @Xerock Armory. Sorry for the confusion.

  • @SnowyWolborg

I thought that's what you meant, but I was just double checking. No harm. No foul.

  • "We brought you some blankets sir. In case you were cold."

    "... You are all idiots."

  • Blight refers to a specific symptom affecting plants in response to infection by a pathogenic organism. It is simply a rapid and complete chlorosis, browning, then death of plant tissues such as leaves, branches, twigs, or floral organs. Accordingly, many diseases that primarily exhibit this symptom are called blights.

  • Several notable examples are:

    - Late blight of potato, caused by the water mold Phytophthora infestans (Mont.) de Bary, the disease which led to the Great Irish Famine

    - Southern corn leaf blight, caused by the fungus Cochliobolus heterostrophus (Drechs.) Drechs, anamorph Bipolaris maydis (Nisikado & Miyake) by the bacterium Erwinia amylovora (Burrill) Winslow et al., is the most severe disease of pear and also is found in apple and raspberry, among others.

  • - Bacterial leaf blight of rice, caused by the bacterium Xanthomonas oryzae (Uyeda & Ishiyama) Dowson.

    - Early blight of potato and tomato, caused by species of the ubiquitous fungal genus Alternaria

    - Leaf blight of the grasses

  • On leaf tissue, symptoms of blight are the initial appearance of lesions which rapidly engulf surrounding tissue. However, leaf spot may, in advanced stages, expand to kill entire areas of leaf tissue and thus exhibit blight symptoms.

  • I recently watched a few of the beyond episodes and i appreciate it more than i did as a kid, if you look at the subtext you can see that at its core its showing real teen issues, just wrapped in batman action. a great example is the episode with spellbinder where hes getting kids to steal for him to get into his VR machines. easy metaphor for teens and drug addiction.

  • Anybody have the entire Batman Beyond Series?

  • Blight?

    this isn't Captain Planet, boy

  • Not a bad scene, though my favourite Blight line was the one in his last appearance-

    Blight- "Who are you?"

Terry-"I'll give you a clue. You killed my father."

Blight- "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW LITTLE THAT NARROWS IT DOWN?"

  • @Penningtontj But for me, it was Tuesday...Or was it Wednesday? No, Tuesday, I think.

  • "You want to talk about poison. HAHAHA. I am poison."

    Blight-Ascension

Great voice acting by Sherman Howard. Gotta see if that clip is on here anywhere.

  • Holy shit! Batman is gonna need alot of Rad X and Radaway.

  • was that a biblical referance? pestilence?

  • @albertjester No, that quote doesn't appear anywhere in any translation of the bible I've read.

  • @2wingo okay. sounds like it though, doesnt it? like if the four horsemen introduced themeselves.

  • Bad touch! D:

  • @instanttomen

You, kind Sir, win the internet

  • Easily the best villain intro quote of the 90's-00's.

  • I thought it was gonna be the scene between Terry and Blight

    Blight: WHO ARE YOU

Terry: I'll give you a hint, you killed my father.

Blight: DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW LITTLE THAT NARROWS IT DOWN?!

  • @Sydpart2 So did I. That's probably my favorite quote from the entire series. But then I remembered that's from the episode "Ascension" not "Meltdown".

  • @Sydpart2

that line was funny as hell xD

  • @Sydpart2 same here i thought it was that one to but if you have comcast at 3 to 4 2 episodes of this comes on on week days

  • Blight was known as Scareglow back on Eternia.

  • I'm gonna fucking murther whoever canceled this show;

at least he/she will go to hell sooner to suffer more!

  • @demoniccurses9 There is a comic out right now that's up to 8 issues. Though I'm not sure if they are going to continue the series due to the reboot.

  • @Eatmyshorts1229 Does the series have decent art in it? Or have they used the meh blocky shoulders style of the DCAU?

  • @MajBlood It uses the styles used in The New Adventures of Batman and Robin, Since it came out before Justice League.

  • @FlameG102 That's lame.

  • @NoTrueFace1

I haven't seen much of either show but based off the little I've seen, I think you might be right. But then again, the people who made TAS were the same who created the popular Harley Quinn and who transformed the cliche cold-feitsh Mr. Freeze into a genuine tragic figure with the depth and dignity of a Shakespeare villain. I'm sure they could have done the same to Blight.

  • Comment removed

  • psh. blight was the only villain in Beyond who MIGHT have made the cut in TAS, but his entrance was ruined because we were all distracted by how awesome Freeze was.

wtf does blight have to offer? a lot of power and the most basic bad guy personality ever? can you get any more generic??? he just looks cool is all. he's nothing to freeze.

"Remember, there might be some momentary discomfort."

  • What does he say when Blight is frying him?

  • @Sephlock

    "My Arm!"

  • a green former billionaire supervillian fighting a teenage superhero, trying to balance normal life and being a superhero....sounds awfully familiar

  • It is too bad that Blight died so ingloriously. I expected the season finale to be more epic. Season 1 of Batman Beyond is really all you need to watch, most of the episodes are awesome. Where as in season 2 there is a lot of crap mixed in with the good.

  • Bruce Begets Joker, Terry Begets Blight, Sins of the Father much?

  • Blight was an awesome, awesome villain. The design just nailed the dystopian theme and the persona was absolute evil. The perfect Joker to Terry's young Batman. It was lame how they never really developed him. He died pretty unceremoniously.

  • @Virgofenix they actually do have a final battle in th ecomic tie in, but at that point blight forgot who his original name was, and later died....and his corps was kept as a trpphy for stalker

  • who are you SUNSHINE?...hahaha

  • Blight/ Derek Powers: And behold, I shall be a blight upon the land, and everything I touch shall wither and die!

  • Blight seems like a stupid name for someone who wants to be taken seriously.

  • @iREELintheFILM Actually, it's an EXCELLENT name if you want to be taken seriously.

  • @jasonisrobin234 Even better if you glow an ominous color.

  • @MasterZebulin Or make things die by TOUCHING them.

  • @LordofDragns Oh yeah. That, too.

  • Who are you?

    Slad- um, Blight.

  • hahaha that almost looked like a boot to the face

  • I love Blight's voice acting. It just fits him so well.

  • AAAAHHHHH!!!! BATMANS FIGHTING A FERAL GHOUL!!! AND ITS A GLOWING ONE!!!!! AAAAAHHHHh!!!

  • @TheDAPLR WHERE'S V.A.T.S. WHEN YOU NEED IT!?

  • Too bad Blight disappears after Season 1...

  • Whatever I see I shall devour.

  • Some people want to watch the world freeze.

  • this is an excellent scene. howeva, the best scene from this ep surely belongs for Freeze's death

  • This show was one of the few examples of a spin-off series that was actually good. Blight is badass.

  • @Scotttjt his quote sounds like it's from the bible or something.

  • @Scotttjt And they just got rid of him after a few episodes. Fuck Batman Beyond. Compared to the first sereis, it dosent compare. Beyond had NO GOOD VILLAINS! Bruce Wayne had the Joker, Bane, Penguin, Poison Ivy, Fire Fly, Clayface, Man Bat, Killer Croc, and a bunch of other villains that made regular appearances. Who'd McGinnus have? Nobody worth remembering.

  • @BreaktheChainsofFate Shriek, the Royal Flush Gang, the Jokerz, and Inque were pretty cool and all made regular appearances. Batman Beyond had unique and good villains, it was just that they were either meant to be one-offs or homages to previous Batman villains (Inque being an homage to Clayface, Ten being an homage to Catwoman, etc.). Also, the old Batman villains that popped up were just as much Terry's villains as they were Bruce's IMO, so the show had a great cast of villains.

  • @SolidThugKnuckles Like I said. None worth remembering.

  • @SolidThugKnuckles I agree with you and Break. Batman Beyond DID have a handful of pretty good villains. But of course the BEST villain McGinnus had was the joker reborn through Tim Drake. The Joker always has and always will be Batman's best villain. Whether Bruce is that Batman or not.

  • @getxyourxkillxon Yeah. That movie was brilliantly done in terms of reintroducing the Joker and quickly establishing him as a threat to Terry. It would have been awesome had it been a two part movie or a trilogy, because I would have liked to have seen the Joker stay in the series a bit longer. But the way they did the movie was well done and I wouldn't go out of my way to change it, IMO.

  • @BreaktheChainsofFate They got rid of Terry's villains because they were trying to show that he really was making a difference getting rid of these guys, as compared to all of Bruce's villains who never ever were really defeated just sent back to jail until they inevitably escaped.

  • @ShadowSonic2 Yeah, and thats what made the show the magnificent thing that it was! Nobody wants to just fuckin see Batman, even if he is the shitty future Batman, fight some no name, lame ass villain. Which is what happened, and why the show was cancelled after only a few seasons. Check and fucking mate.

  • @BreaktheChainsofFate The show was pretty magnificent, yes. ;)

Batman TAS also only was on for a few seasons before it got retooled into the Superman/Batman Adventures, and then Justice League, etc. If show length is all you have, you really are grasping at straws because plenty of excellent shows don't last long either.

  • @Scotttjt TRUE DAT!

  • Blight was one of the few decent Batman Beyond villains. he MIGHT have made the cut as an original batman villain. however he's completely overshadowed by the spectacular Freeze in this episode.

  • SPOILERS

In the current Batman Beyond comics, Blight has returned as a villain.

  • @ShadowSonic2

Didn't the African hunter villain (forgot his name) from season 2 or 3 kill Blight as a trophy?

  • @zeonmx In the comic series they made while Batman Beyond was still on, he died. In the current comics (that ignore those prior ones) that are the official continuation of the series, Blight is alive and back as the head villain (at least he's trying to be).

  • This should definately be the villain if BB gets a movie.

  • what's scareglow doing around here

  • Fuck. That. Was. Fucking. BADASS!

  • Blight looks like he should be Atomic Skull from the justice league

  • Did he say "Blight will do?" or "What were you?"

  • @dendara100 blight will do. he was saying what he wants batman to call him

  • 0:17 SUPRISE SUNSHINE!

  • Sunshine?

  • villian who quotes the bible ALWAYS creepy esp if they quote revelations

  • You guys do know that Blight is really an existing character known as Doctor Phosphorous right?

  • @mwong666 Bruce Timm was a fan of the character and based the character on him, yes, but they're two different characters.

  • Blight is a badass!

  • Blight is like Lex Luthor

  • i think i like blight more than the joker. he's one of those bad guys that regardless of his actions ya kinda feel sorry for him.

  • @ArelnaPhoenix89 you should read "The Killing Joke" it's a good batman graphic novel that shows who the joker was before he became the joker and how he became the joker, after that I can gaurantee you'll feel sorry for the joker as well.

  • Blight resembles the Atomic skull a bit.

  • VIC RATTLEHEAD ON BATMAN!

    AWSOME CARTOON!

  • I wish blight was my dad, that way I could tell everyone my dad glows in the dark.

  • @chango000000

That way, when he comes in for his nightly rapings, you can see him...

  • @666slugs666 that was uncalled for man.

  • they could have done a hell of a lot more with blight; he was a cool character, but they didn't use his enough

  • joker will always be the best...he KNOWS Batman

  • I really wish they brought Blight back after the first season.

  • he looks like a glowing ghoul from fallout new vegas-fallout 3

  • @SuperNateclark Correction. The glowing ghoul from Fallout 3 looks like him. This came first.

  • @SuperNateclark or a glowing ghoul looks like him. this was early 2000's

  • @SuperNateclark More like glowing ghoul looks like Blight.

  • @SuperNateclark *kicks you in the back of the head* you mean the glowing ghoul from fallout new vegas-fallout 3 looks like Blight!!!! :)

  • @SuperNateclark or it is those ghouls that looks like him, since this show was out years before fallout

  • @jocke706 nope the first fallout was made in the early 1990

  • @keaverkite was it? iam not so much of fallout so idk

  • @SuperNateclark They are called Glowing Ones, at least in Fallout 3.

  • @SuperNateclark Actually, He is heavily poisoned by chemical radioactive stuff, that woul MAKE him a Goul of some sort

  • I love that part .....awesome

  • ice and toxic waste dont mix....

  • Skeletor?..

  • they have this on the hob at 5:30

  • @TheNightVilgilantes No they don't you spambot

  • @VangeistXIII its on HUB weekdays @ 7:30 am n 5:30 pm so shut up i'm not a spambot I'm just telling fellow fans its back on air I usually don't call people names but i'm gonna call you a trool why cuz no1 I repeat no1 repiled to that but you n if you dnt believe its on air look it up instead of running ur mouth!

  • @TheNightVilgilantes Oh well excuse me Mr defensive - and the correct spelling is TROLL. Besides I was making light of the fact various spam bots point out incorrect times in a video with a random advertising message, so EXCUSE me for assuming that considering you left no other description than "they have this on the hob at 5:30". For one, UK doesn't have the HUB so how the hell was I to know what you were on about?

  • Blight would be one of the greatest villians if he was on for more than one season.

  • @blade9871 Agreed

they were off to a good start with him. But then they didnt take him far enough to really put him on par with Mr Freeze or The Joker.

The main gripe I had with Batman Beyond was its villains.

    The re-occuring ones were underdeveloped.

And the one-shot villains were just one-shots.

But I still loved the series.

  • Comment removed

  • Batman Dynamic Entry!

  • Good villain but my fave is The Joker

  • Hes a good villain but by far number one will always be The Joker :D

  • this episode is by far my absolute favorite of batman beyond. mr freeze's new suit always amazed me in his final moments before his true death. I was always a mr freeze fan in batman and probably always will be. winter is also my favorite season , and the snow is actually relaxing IF its not it blizzard conditions. batman beyond in particular I love the best in the batman franchise due to my middle school days watching kids wb. RIP Kids wb. we shall miss you.

  • I prefer Inque personally.

  • The hell is mister Freeze saying right near the start of the video?

  • Blight was always the best villain on Batman Beyond in my opinion...but in that group it's easy to be the best. He'd hold his own for characterization against the traditional rogue's gallery, too - a Lex Luthor-ish character but with actual superpowers and a sad underlying story to the character.

  • 0:11 SURPRISE, COCKFAGS!

  • @zhazha23 could also be a DYNAMIC ENTRY!

  • @qMattp With all due respect to the series, I'm not a Narutard.

  • @zhazha23 well then how did you know it was from naruto? :S

  • The voice acting for Blight is much better than Ten of the Royal Flush Gang in my opinion.

  • my fav villain in the batman beyond serie

  • This was my favorite show growing up as a kid. Still is actually. I think this guy was one of the coolest villians you could ask for. He fit the Batman Beyond series perfectly as a bad-guy.

  • terrys most powerful foe

  • His Rasengan was cool

  • You know there WERE awesome killing moves before some pussy, orange-clad squirt with blond hair decided to be a ninja...not everything is a crappy Rasengan.

  • @Momentum139 congratulations

  • @Momentum139 Kenshiro ftw

  • @DemonPalm damn narutards making naruto related posts on a batman vid

  • @mastergamers23 Is there really reason for this?

  • @DemonPalm no, so why are you posting it?

  • @mastergamers23 I mean just flaming on youtube comments about comics and anime. Everyone is a individual with it's own taste, enjoy your life.
