  • @shortybackwell,

  • @leatherneck1957 Thanks, glad you liked the photos!

  • He lived on Randolph St too, the house no longer stands tho. Also, you forgot the little league fields, Bruce played on the 4th st field, Babe Ruth league. Go all the way down Center st, the last right is 4th st, the field is at the end of that street on the left, it is still being used when its little league season, the older kids play there 13/14 yr olds. I love Mario...LOL Funny!!

  • I loved this video, made my day. I grew up in Freehold and graduated from the high school there in 1977. Bruce lived down the street and around the corner from me....what a blast this was to watch! ;-) Thank You!!!!

  • you forgot pics of the illegal immigrants, which overrun the town like roaches nowadays.

  • @shortyblackwell I didn't forget, check out 2:41-2:42 in the video....

  • thanks, great video, nice to see the places that helped form his view of the world...

  • That's awesome. Thanks alot. Greetings from Melbourne Australia.

  • My Hometown Vienna Austria!

  • awsome vid i been to everwhere in that vid i have been to his house now

  • it make me proud to live in Freehold and to go to Freeholf Boro High School. 732 is not an area code. its a way of life!

  • A nice journey.. It was a pleasure to join..

  • SEEMS LIKE A NICE TOWN TO GROW UP IN!!!

  • Yeah, thanks dude... yeah, man, rub it in, make me eeeeeven more homesick than I am with this awesome vid and pics you put together, as if I weren't homesick enough! Lima Bean church, rr tracks, even the day laborers at Throckmorton. Okay, thanks!!!

  • Nice, I like that comment, and glad you like the vid!

  • Nice photo essay. But Freehold is neither the Graceland nor the Liverpool of Jersey. It's Freehold.

  • I was in Atlantic City a month ago and had some time to kill so I drove up to Freehold and lo and behold I saw a bunch of the stuff shown in this video. I see where Bruce got the inspiration for some of his songs.

  • This video is fantastic! I grew up in Freehold too and still live here now. There were a lot of excellent pictures showing this great town! Bruce would be so proud if he saw this! Thank you so much for making this video! I have to share it with all of my friends now!

  • Thanks, glad you like and yes send it to your friends!

    I'm next town over, Manalapan.

  • wow, beautiful video!

  • to bad his home is overun WELCOME TO THE NEW WORLD ORDER SLAVES

  • Freehold looks absolutely beautiful; a very gorgeous little town. Excellent photography!!

  • Thank you, glad you like it!

  • Great video!

  • I drove through Freehold about a year ago. I thought the town looked somewhat abandoned. I remember all of the railroad tracks looked like they were unused. Main street did look OK, though.

  • What about Jersey Freeze on Rt. 33 by the racetrack?

  • i was there in freehod yes nice one .went there on oct10th after to fab shows

  • I <3 main stret me and my friends hang out from there alot were from Freehold township and Bruce is From the Boro but hes a hero for both of us people talk about him alot and its kinda funny when you here people talk about stories in school like it's nothing and the nuns at St.Rose use to yell at him so much he was not a good kid bruce is a good guy now and freehold is Very proud of him

  • Thanks. I want to leave Bruce his privacy so this is just like going - without getting in the man's way.

  • very well put together!! great song...great singer... and you put this together very well!! what big town is freehold close to?

  • Thanks, glad you like it, Freehold is the big town in that area, I live in the next town over, Manalapan.

Bon_Jovi was a couple towns over, he's from Sayerville!

  • im from manalapan too i went to st rose lima. i go to sweet lews all the time!!! i love the vid man

  • Cool, glad you like it, it would be fun to spot Bruce around here!

  • i know man, i heard hes been down at the inlet in masaquan alot lately, heard he might buy a house around there, but i have a feeling i will meet bruce at some point, he loves freehold and all of monmouth county and im just prayin i will be in the right place at the right time

  • Nice, my neighbor spotted him at the Dublin House, Redbank recently!

  • Thanks for the video... 5*****

  • This is a really interesting vid from my perspective b/c I'm a huge Sprinsteen fan who just happens to live in Tupelo, Miss--which was Elvis's "Hometown". And I'm actually old enough to have been to Elvis shows here in '56 & '7. As a matter of fact, I've dreamed many times that Bruce would do a concert here in "My Hometown". Maybe he actually will someday...

  • Great photos, excellent tribute to downtown. I grew up in Freehold Township (not borough) but I liked to drive through the borough and over all those train tracks. I especially like your train sign photos and the Coca-Cola sign.

  • Thanks, glad you like the slide show, I really liked the Coca Cola sign too, must have been there since the sixties, glad I got that photo because now it's gone!!

  • i actually was at bistro to see the b street band this weeekend/ i love freehold and bruce!

  • Yeah, B street is good.... I've seen them at "The Headliner" in Neptune

  • i live in frrehold i love main st

  • Comment removed

  • Does that sign really say E Street?

  • @alannadowd it was the camera angle/Photoshop LOL... nice job on that pic Andy :) its actually Elm street I believe. E street was the street in another Jersey shore area town that Vinnie lived on during the early days....they allegedly named the E street band because they always be sitting outside waiting for vinnie to come out and get in the car to got to gigs or recording....it was also allegedly one of the things about vinnie that drove Bruce crazy....he was always late to everything.

  • wirklich ein hammer lied

  • Lovely video;) Nice pics, good job you have don.

  • Thank you,Andy. At least when I visit freehold, I will be able to recognize some of the places.

  • Thanks, glad you like it, I'm so honored to live in the next town over, Manalapan!

  • Wow. I really loved this.

I'm Canadian so I don't live anywhere near, but Freehold is one place I've always wanted to see, because of Bruce, of course. It's not quite what I always imagined, so this was a real eye-opener.

  • Good job great video !!!!!!!!! Nice picture's

  • The building on the corner of McClean and South was the original Freehold Sorrento's before they moved to RT33. I used to make Bruce his favorite sub there back in 67, Turkey ,not my favorites! Sorrento's Super was the best! Just like Fed's pizza, none better. We would all walk there after seeing Bruce, George, Vinnie, Paul, and Kurt The Castille's play at the Left Foot, or St Roses CYO dance. It seems like it was a lot cooler after Bruce legitimized the scene. Good stuff.

  • That was awesome!!! Thanks to Mario for letting you take the pics. I loved the guy chasing his dog. And I thought that last guy was Bruce until you said it wasn't. (Are you sure it wasn't? The resemblance is uncanny!)

  • Glad you liked it, yeah Mario was cool...,that was a little like the twilight zone when the guy who looked like Boss walked past... great comment!

  • Nice video.. Couple of notes. Jersey Freeze and the spot where Bruce was born.(Driveway to St Rose church on Randolph St the house was torned down years ago) He lived in 3 homes during his time in the Boro. He left Freehold in 1969 when his parents moved to California.

  • Nice work. Been a fan for 30 years- never thought I'd see Freehold so thoroughly. Wondering if Federici's Pizza is owned by a relative of Danny's? Ans, is anything left of the old 3M audio recording tape plant that Springsteen made famous during the plant closing in 1985? Thanks again.

P.S. I imagine your reference to Columbia records is a little jest?

  • I was wondering about Federici's myself, I think it's just a coincidence...I'll look into the 3m situation, yes good catch on

the Columbia Records mention! A+ comment!!

  • No its no relation at all ..... Like Steve's House in there LOL.... Excellent Job Marc!!!

  • Danny wasn't from the Freehold Federici's. He was from the Burlington NJ area. The old 3m building is an Asbury Press building and a Beer Distributorship.

  • Thanks for putting this together. I was playing this song all day. Funny how relevant that song can be after 25 years.

  • freehold is a nice town thanks for making this video(i live there)

the only thing that i wished you added was the diner on main st (i work there as a bus boy) my boss is in the video long walk home

    Once again thanks

    PS. GO FREEHOLD BORO HIGH!!!

  • Cool, I'm next town over in Manalapan, did Bruce go to the diner much??

  • The doc in the Born to Run 25th Anniverary edtion was partly filmed in that diner. Check it out

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, I'm going to try it soon, thanks!

  • The diner across the street from the old Post Office was the best place to find a cop in Freehold back in the day. They all hung out there! Back then it was just a little old town with only about a dozen cops,if that many. Trotters & Pacers Diner (new name now) out on rt 9 & Throckmorton was a good hang out for post beer burgers.

  • Just so cool,i can watch over and over

  • I live in Freehold, NJ also =)

  • Wow! What a wonbderful town! Beats the hell out of parking lots, strip malls and chain restaurants like my home town :+(.

  • Thanks for posting this!! I grew up in Jersey, born in Hackensack but we moved to Eatontown in 1967...met Bruce through someone I was dating who worked with his then-girlfriend; went to watch him & band play baseball a few times at Holmdel h.s. field. Very nice pics of Freehold...I live in FL now and it's great to see pics of Jersey houses and 'hoods! Bruce and his music are the best!

  • Great comment and cool story!

  • What a great clip, thanks for sharing this, one day I hope to visit Freehold!!

  • Cool vid

  • im from manchester nj but feehold is not far Bruce is still around freehold a lot ...but he lives in colts neck now right around the corner

  • its such a nice looking town!

  • how come this clip doesn't have at least 3 million views?

  • Maybe it still too new?

  • his old neighborhood resembles mine in Buffalo NY,It was nice to see the Boss's roots..thanks for posting !

  • Thank you so very much for this! This little film is absolutely fantastic. Interesting & informative. Greatly appreciated, thank you again for posting this. Freehold looks great. Love the style of buildings...and of course....love Bruce! :-)

  • Love the video. I was actually just searching for the song, and then i stumbled onto this little beauty. It was very nice of you to take the time to show people who've never been to Freehold, the place where he is from. I might just visit one day, but I live in Ireland so unless I go to the States....Very well done. x x x

  • Glad you enjoyed it, hope you can get to visit someday!

  • Ah, good old Freehold. Yeah, I'm from Freehold. I've always loved Freehold and Springsteen. Currently, I go to the other high school. But anyway, I was happy to see all of the possitive comments. I never want to leave Freehold. Oh, and a bumped into the Boss over at Goodfellas and Jersey Freeze. My dad once was driving alongside of him, and yes, Bruce was in a black mustang.

    P.S. great film!

  • I have never been there, but I grew up in an 80,000 people EU town. Pretty small if you ask me, just 80,000 people. My mum had a house in a residential suburb.

  • So you go to Township? me too. I love Freehold and I never want to leave

  • Thanks for the video we were born and raised in Freehold now live in Nc and miss home (Freehold) soooo much thanks for bringing us some memories but you forgot Jersey Freeze LOL

  • Glad you like it, if I would of known I would have added in "Jersey Freeze"!

  • hey I live in marlboro

  • Thank you sooo much! I wanna go to Freehold someday, and see all these places. Man that'd be amazing.

  • Thank you! So glad you like it, hope you can make the trip

    to New Jersey someday!

  • My mom was driving one day when she used to live there, and saw him JOGGING SHIRTLESS DOWN THE STREET! She stopped and waved and he waved back! LOLZ

  • Nice story, I'll have to keep my eyes open!

  • big bruce fan and i am glad to call freehold my hometown. i was born and rised in freehold, and i might never leave. went to fhs ( greatest school on the world )i still go to st rose and ive riden on the born to run truck. if your ever around freehold and see a black mustang, take a deep look, it might just be the boss.

  • Nice, thanks for the tip!

  • wow! Putting pictures to the legend for those of us who've never been to Freehold. Thank you very much!

  • Glad you like it, it's our "liverpool"!

  • very nice thanks :D

  • Glad you like it, that says a lot for a die-hard Bruce fan!

  • Yes, :)

I just think Bruce is amazing...

  • Wow, grew up in freehold am so happy it hasn't changed. Haven't been back in 10 years and now i'm want to go back!! Thanks for the upload!

  • How long ago?? Freehold you see in the video is spectacular compared to 1967 Freehold. The Court Jester, the 3 story restaurant in the middle still photo on this page was Conway's Bar back then with no Sidewalk Cafe's on Main Street. Sweet Lou's was a News stand/pool hall . The down town boom came after the Court Jester opened. Freehold started to hop after that, and after more commuters to NYC moved in. But hey, if it was cool back then it would'nt "rip the bones from your back"!!

  • 10 years. Gratuated from freehold bro in 99. and moved to colorado right after. i miss it.

  • Well i lived there to, in Aurora outside of Denver. If you can move to Evergreen, Morrison or Golden, close enough to business and far enough up away from it all, you'll forget Freehold. Try hard. You're a Jersey girl, be proud, you don't have to stay there.

  • LOL! yeah , gettingout of the city and goign more like Co Springs. Aurora huh? im not the far from Aurora. Now Evergreen is nice. STil miss Freehold tho would just like to visit.

  • Born in Freehold 8/13/51, my b'day today. went to St. Rose the same class with Bruce's sister Ginny.

I know many NYC commuters from Freehold. Took busses from the old Bus station on Throckmorton Street. My father in law bussed or drove to NYC from Kings Grant bus stop off rt 9 . My dad sold Conway's Bar to the Court Jester owner in 1974. Nobody came to Freehold for food before then unless you were horse at the Racetrack, or you were lucky enough to find Federici's Pizza.

  • I work in Manhattan and the easiest way is to drive the 15 miles to Old Bridge Park and Ride, then it's a 36 minute non stop bus ride without traffic....

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Court Jester fan. It's only memories for me. The second floor balcony used to be my Grand mothers front porch. I watched the other side of Main Street burn down in 1960. The development off 9 one light souht of Rt 79 Main street is Kings Grant. The jug handle there has a sheltered bus stop. Lot's work in NYC from Freehold.

  • FHS also has a Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Academy and Computer Science

  • so, like what? are you implying that i could have been patti scialfa? (only without talent?)

  • Maybe, but it looks like you were scouting the wrong band!

  • and i quite like your analogy of freehold being the liverpool of jersey! such brilliance!

  • Yes, he deserves some recognition!

  • Comment removed

  • don't remember what bruce sang, was too busy enthralled with the lead singer of the opening band!

  • Looks like you goofed up there!

  • i played with his kids in the freehold mall when i was like 2 y/o....

  • Nice, I was wondering if he went to the Freehold Raceway Mall!

  • Comment removed

  • Cool, thats some memory from 35 years ago, did he sing any songs from "Greetings from Asbury Park" at that show if you can remember anyrthing at all??

  • Spectacular video! He didn't sing this when I saw him 2 weeks ago (friend got $15.00 employee tix - LOUSY seats, but good show). Still have one up on ya by having met him in the musician's room in Fat City in Seaside Heights in 1973!
