The bow started out as a cut-off from an Amish lumber mill. It's the outer part, with the bark on, that they usually sell for firewood. When I got it the bark was falling off, so I had to chase a few rings to find a good one.
Nice work, all we have here in the islands is boards no staves. i wanna experince working on a stave. I got lucky and came away with a #55 bow with red oak board from Home Depot with no backing, it has alot of punch to it too.
hehe, i just saw this. Those knots on the strings are classical temporary string things! I use them myself a lot even on my good strings lol

You made a 60lb draw weight bow from Red Oak???
I assume this wasn't the standard "board bow".
Did you chase a ring on a full stave for this?
