I was at the 2000 W/Champs in Munich ,.. and saw Sedinya Balde KO his opponent with a perfect head kick ( 2.19 ) in this video.... in slow motion you could see just how perfect it was, but of course the guy couldnt continue so Balde lost by hansoku,..... I felt so bad for him to lose like that in the final of the W/Championships ( + 80 kgs )
lost by hansoku? I am just starting out in kumite, can you tell me what this means? Did he kick too hard and injured the guy - thereby losing the match?
... yeah basically , hansoku is disqualification,... if you are the "cause" of an injury to your opponent that is severe enough for them to not continue ... penalty rules are different now to what they were back then in this footage but still much the same , ... if you want to learn the kumite game well, be sure to understand the penalty system, its quite complicated so its important to know the rules as best you can ! .. good luck with your kumite game ! :)
i think overall, france still has a great team, their national championships are loaded, it is pretty much impossible to make top 8 at their nationals.

why is this debate still going on? It's not the style, it's the person. If you think one style is the best, try using that style's laziest student versus the most hardworking student of any other style. Bam! the fight is over.
I think this form of Karate Competition is way better and more realistic than Kyokushin type contest, due to the fact they can strike at the face with the fist, where kyohushin all you can do is punch to the chest...(which isn't realistic...ala just like Olympic style Tai kwon do)
