I remember the '02 West Finals when Kobe committed about 4-5 flagrant fouls and was untouched by the officials. However, we went to the line throughout the game.
Jordan was similar with his famous "benefit of the doubt Jordan calls". Hubert Davis had his "benefit of the doubt" call moment in '94.
@irishindy123 Pacers didnt deserve shit. They got their ass busted in this series, they got lucky in 2000 against us and still ended up getting raped by the Lakers. They were losers, from Mark Jackson to gay ass Jalen Rose to Reggie. Fuck hick ass Indiana. NYC ALL FUCKIN DAY, NEW YORK RULES THE WORLD YA BITCH YA.
Thank you for this! I love that it's before and after the shot, and has the whole thing from beginning to end. Been looking for something this complete, with no editing. :)
GOD I miss these days. There was so much heart and passion for the game of basketball on this team. They were playing as if they werent being payed. They played like a bunch of victory wolves.

1999 NBA Eastern Conference Finals Game 3's Closing Moments
Man that was one great game of basketball and a great Knicks win,a Knicks team ,who, that season, were a bit inconsistent and posted some embarrisingly low totals in regular season play.Johnson,Houston,Dudley (sans Ewing),Thomas,Ward,Camby,Childs,Sprewell, alright.
the crowd reaction was just totally amazing. every single person in the arena was up, on its feet, jumping and screaming. the best moment at The Garden
Oh yeah, thanks for putting up the video the way it SHOULD be put up... You don't just have a little clip showing the "shot", you have footage leading up TO the shot and you also have footage of the post-game stuff. Nice work! A rarity on youtube...
WOW!!! Larry Johnson is really enlightened and connected with God here to shut the ego down after being so tempted by having tens of thousands people shout his name, girls going after him, etc. and he has the awareness to thank God and give all praises to God...I'll pray for him!
One more thing...lol...props to the Knicks for that incredible 98/99 run...just to hear the announcer say a 2-1 lead in the series, was impressive for that squad...then to think they actually got to the finals w no Pat Ewing???? CRAZY!!! MARCUS CAMBY/SPREEWELL WERE IN THE ZONE! Also, does anyone remember LJ defending Duncan the entire Finals? Impressive.
Everything you said is spot on, except one thing. The Knicks had a great run, and it was very improbable them reaching the finals that year. But LJ defending Duncan was impressive? Duncan dominated everything the Knicks threw at him. Im not blaming LJ, but every shot he forced Duncan to take, he sank.
Reggie Miller and Michael Jordan have both made it clear that OBVIOUS offensive fouls dont get called late...and here, A Davis brushes LJ for a split second and the whistles go off immediately?!?!
Anyway, A Davis still made a dumb play by touching him at all. Classic moment.
Also, that was a pretty gutsy call by Van Gundy, Isolating LJ to take that shot.

Those that know anything about basketball know that this was NOT a foul. And it's not even debatable. Couple that with the gift-wrapped Hubert Davis call versus the Bulls, and it's fair to say that the league had some stake in getting the Knicks into the Finals.
To say that is kind of silly though, because if the league had something to do with the Knicks getting to the Finals then there's no way that the Knicks would have slipped past Miami in the first round.
Dan Marjle (however you spell his name) practically massaged Houston's head on that final jumper and we all know that would have had more justice as a foul.
In today's league, they would have let that slip but that was 10 years ago! I'm not going to argue about the continuation neither LOL
@allenfitzgerald how was that not a foul? he hacked the guys arms, maybe you can questions continuation, but he was in act of shooting and dude grabbed his arms.
@tishhead kobe? he never gets any calls actually. he got fouled like hell vs the heat in the 4th quarter by wade on a 3 when the heat were up two.. .pretty clear it was a foul as he hit both of his arms like hell.. if anything its lebron going to the line with the least contact.
this game was crazy. larry johnson was hittin threes from everywhere that day. that foul would have never been called in todays game tho not to mention the continuing basket after he shuffled his feet. still damn...a u brought back memories with these vids b.

A genuinely sad day for basketball.
I was a16-year-old big Miller and Pacer fan on this Sunday and I have no idea why I just watched this again and relived it.
The Knicks and more importantly Larry Johnson deserve no credit for this game. One of the all-time worst moments in the NBA's history.

But LJ at the end of the video says that the play was designed for Allan Houston.
I won't lie though, that foul was very questionable.

questionable- antonio davis didn't even touch him. that was a massive screw job by the ref.
but seriously, i gotta give you credit for knowing it was a crap call to put it lightly.
