  • these chords are so huge

  • Fucking LOVE this song. It's got the most perfect changes and suspense.

  • this is a masterpiece...

  • wow..... Kangaroo is song made by BIG STAR, great old band and over the time it had many covers but this is...... Really good... Fans should try original & ThisMortalCoil version ( unbelivable! ) + there are others but... I aven't found covers as good as Buckley's or TMC ( no, not THC )....

  • @DyllamDop ." TMC ( no, not THC )" lol

  • one m0:00re time

  • The version from the British release of Mystery White Boy is better by far, but at least here you can WATCH him play it! "your just like St. Joan....doin a cool jerk" Jeff FTW

  • whoa... crazy good.

  • pure magic

  • he was on a different level

  • oh i get it. He's jumping like a kangaroo. lol

  • I just hopped all over the place when I first listened to this song, my legs hurt still, don't make fun of me, lol, and I might burn my ears out still listening to it today. Amazing performance.

  • beautiful

  • 5:30 Onwards is amazing

  • @boomergaty 0:00 on is amazing.

  • I think he tries to make covers untouchable. by god does he

  • sexiest man in the history of sexy

  • This is immense

  • This is an angelic voice... Now, he is surely between the singers angels of the heaven!

  • One of the best musicians, if not the best, this world had to offer.

  • This is a great cover from the Mortal Coil Album. Jeff is one of the best versions - and a great guitarist - a privallege to hear him play - even on DVD or here on YouTube - especially as he is no longer with us - his work remains. Peace & love to him & you all.

  • @Peoppell Actually, it's a Big Star cover.

  • @Peoppell no no no. Its a cover from amazing band Big star.

  • He wasn't covering anything, he didn't need to. It wasn't just about his words, the emotion really said it all - Live at Chicago..

  • Does any one know who he is covering?

  • @qubemaster1212 big star.

  • Oh- if only he were here today- what would he be like? The good ones get outta here early!

  • 4:50 to 8:37 = HOLY SHIT!

  • 5:19 to 5:32 , he is god

  • @placebo1234 i think there's some secret agency that snuffs out all the real artists to make room for the crap ones...definitely a HUGE loss to the music world. someone needs to get a time machine so they can go back tell him not to go for a swim.

  • @twistedviewlabs It's called the music industry. That's what you get when you have a free market. The labels produces music that the public demands. Which is crap music. Blame the free market and people's generally bad taste.

  • @twistedviewlabs However. One could argue that it has actually become the other way around. I mean, how can the music industry possibly know what the public is going to demand? They only follow trends and put their money into already established artists. So what they think the public wants affects the publics musical taste. SInce if you hear a song on the radio enough times you will eventually begin to like it in some way. Especially if you're already been fed the industry's propaganda.

  • @twistedviewlabs So that makes it the executives fault. The people sitting on high position deciding what to play on the radio and what to not play on the radio.

If you played Jeff on the radio for a year I think that suddenly you would have changed the publics demand.

  • @Svetsarkirurgen perhaps...

  • @twistedviewlabs Just speculating:)

However, how boring would the world be if everybody had the same taste in everything?

So we're probably better off the way things are.. The important thing is that we know Jeff rocks.

Sorry for making such a fuzz out of your post :)

  • this video shouldn't even have a dislike button.

  • @altimita those 2 people were probably dyslexic

  • @jmackyj, I suppose you are not ALONE in your oppinion, but I think it's probably a small group you belong to, as for you not being able to listen to a whole song, perhaps you should, and maybe listen a few times, as what Jeff has to offer is best HEARD with the heart and soul, not just the ears, yeah, he goes THAT DEEP, once he's reached you, or on the other hand maybe he's just not for you, who knows?

  • What's the brand of jeff buckley's guitar? I know it's a very well known one but i just can't remember its name:/

  • @dolunaydainsanolan rickenbacker

  • I agree with FValestra. Jeff never chose an easy song to cover, starting with his dad's stuff.

  • I saw this guy ranked above Roger Daltrey, Robert Plant, Ian Gillian, Mike Patton and other great singers on a list of greatest vocalists and I gotta say I don't see it at all. Do people really think he's that good? I haven't even been able to listen to a full song because his voice bothers me so much. I can't be alone on this.

  • @jmackyj Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

  • @jmackyj Well, music is art, and art is subjective. People are bound to have their own opinion. Jeff's music is really diverse in style and sound, so I'm sure you could find at least one song you like.

I personally love his music. His voice isn't always "perfect", but he delivers so much in everything he does. So, to me, all of his music is amazing. Plus, he just has technical skill that you can't deny.

  • not a big star song..much earlier...this mortal coil

  • @Devinegrowm

This mortal coil covered Big Star. This Mortal Coil released this song in1984 on It'll End In Tears, but Big Star released it on their Third LP (Sister Lovers) in 1978. Sorry to be "that guy," but this is important!

  • @Devinegrowm

LOL, couldn't be more wrong. big star way before that shit band

  • @zankokunatenshi

The "chocolate" version is an alternate intro for the song "mojo pin".

it is freakin amazing! you can get it on cd. buy the grace around the world dvd/cd and its on there

  • you gots to hear the version from mystery white boy vocals are much bettterr

  • Amazing!!

  • sono a bocca aperta....

  • This cover is a drawn out. I respect Jeff - but this is just misguided. It's more schtick than substance.

  • YOURE JUST LIKE !!!!!

  • wow

thats what i call making a cover of a great song

  • Great Alex Chilton, may he rest in peace, Bucley honored him in advance with this cover.

  • damn this guy could belt out some velocity....he is a legend

  • tim buckley played 12 strings as well...

  • Yes. Go ahead & act like you've been thinking this all along. When in reality, you are just disrespecting Mr. Chilton by being a fake, sheeping, fucktard. You'll get over your little phase in a week. Toodles.

    RIP: Alex Chilton.

  • @ledlizzy74 I know this cover since the Mystery White Boy CD and DVD Live in Chicago came out years ago and that's a great great cover!! By the way, RIP Alex Chilton... and almost 13 years since Jeff Buckley passed away. RIP Jeff Buckley.

    Great songs live forever!!!

  • @NameyMD fuck you

  • @NameyMD were you concieved with a week sperm? what the fuck is the point in saying shit like that. if it wasn't for jeff i wouldnt even know about big star and now theyre one of my favourite bands. your only saving grace is that you like L7

  • R.I.P. Alex Chilton and Jeff. Wow, what a great Big Star tune, love the Rickenbacher guitar too! Never heard this version before. Thanks for posting.
