Hi, mc505 user... When you dial in a new pattern, the mc505 will load the next pattern as it is stored,. It does not have an option to remember which channels currently are muted. If you'd like to play live, store the same pattern a few times with different channels muted. I hope you understand.
gotta agree with norphe , that's what im doing , i already got lots of knowledge how the synths work etc , so its mostly trying to make something on the 505 and if you then think "ok , i want to change the sound" for ex. then look on the manual and look for the part where it explains that part :)
i've been dealing with mostly computer sequencers , vst's and stuff which just turned to be a piece of cake and besides that i think it loses all the fun when you mostly program the computer and the computer does the whole thing for you.
I'm alright with the 505 , just a bit lazy to create some new presets i gotta be honest (that's what software makes you , a plain lazy) LOL
granted I only got it yesterday but I'm trying to read over the material...currently the 200+ manual. Any other suggested reading or tips to learn it? Thanks!
There are some patches in the 505 that have TB it its name ;) It would have been great if they had put Roland TB's slide functions in the groovebox....tb-303 and mc-505 in one box :-D
hummm , you can slide on the 505 but i know what you mean , get that accent and unique slide of the tb303 on the 505 xD , oh well can't ask too much! :)
Sooooooo true!!! I read once in an interview with Dave Mustaine, (greatest all-round metal guitarist ever), that often times he will write entire songs without even being plugged into a guitar amp! He said that sometimes an amp isn't around and he only has his guitar, and has made masterpieces that way. Anyway, this guy here kicks ass, great track!
I dont know exactly but I guess I have bought it in 2000 or so. I borrowed it for a few months first. It takes quite some time to figger out how things work on this machine.
is this all done with what comes with a groovebox or did you have to download stuff onto it? i take it you are playing this through a amp? and can you rig that up to your pc and record the sounds onto your pc?
any help would be appreciated i am looking into getting one of these!
All done with the standard sounds of the groovebox... although some sounds are heavily customized and put thru filters and efx, this track was recorded by connnecting the 505 straight to my PC soundcard.
house ?

Actually, a few of the tutorials on creating your own voice presets aren't bad, and will get you started.
The index is a good tool, too, for menus.

Thanks, one more question, what are you using to record it?
Thanks
Sokkerkid101 2 years ago
I think hes recording it by hooking it up to his computer, i got my mc505 hooked up to my audio interface and then im recording it through ableton.
