a full body routine 3 times a week is optimal for maximum gains for a natural bodybuilder because protein synthesis is only elevated for up to 36 hours post training and after that your muscles won't grow any bigger. however if you want to emphasize certain areas of the body you might want to change to an upper/lower split (2 days on 1 day off) if you already have built a solid foundation. and don't worry about overtraining cause it won't happen.
you can target specific part of the calf. bent legged calf raises are soleus dominant and straight legged calf raises are gastrocnemius dominant. from a bodybulding standpoint you should develop your gastrocnemius as much as possible without building up the soleus too much (no seated calf raises!!!).
I AM 66 YEARS OLD,and do Isometric Rack Traning 6 times per-week,and whole body workout takes only 15 minutes, check out Bob Haffman York Barrbell isometric Rack training. You cannot purchase these these Racks any more,But You can easly make one from wood.when I was Younger did power lifting but when reaching into My 60s,could not do weighlifting,so did power rack isometric training and it really works.Tony Robbins right in what he says.it works!
So somebody gets stuck under a log, the log requires 100kg of force to be lifted off the person to save their life. Oh! but it's ok, because you can "squat" over 9000kgs,
So you go over to the log and cannot lift it because you're current stance isn't in correct form to get your peak strength... even if it was you'd only be able to hold it there while they slowly die.
Maybe someone punches, you, you go to defend yourself, rather than punching you're just holding your arm extended, STAY BACK!
@sstslayer lol man you are right. If this really works you don't have to go to the gym, you can stay home and push with all your strength against a wall or some thing , and in three months or less you will look like Arnold
@victorliniutza3 Here is the thing though, if u stay at home and push against the wall u will never know how much u lifted. U never measured. And u would never be able to know when to rest and when to "work out". And NO ONE can lift and look like Arnold without drugs, whatever they do
@victorliniutza3 I know what that is, but from my understanding that equipments meter was faulty, I have heard people not being able to make as good gains as they should have. On the other hand, going to the gym and applying principles of SCT will indeed make u gain muscle. Dont take my word lightly, try it. U dont have to buy anything, there should be enough info on their PrecisionTraining site and around the net for u to start SCT. Be a skeptic, but not absolute skeptic.
@ismomentus It's supposed to be both, the body does tend to build some aspects of muscle while learning strength even when ti's predominantly neurological skill.
there is NO scientific information to back up ANY of this training. they pull facts and mix them with their own theories so it sounds like they go together and thats not true. instead of being a bunch of p*ssies just pick a weight do about 6 full reps. next time you workout add weight and do it again. this sh*t will never do anything to pay off. i mean come on look at the 2 guys promoting that they use it. anthony is naturally skinny and obviously has no muscle. and then the fat guy? come on...
@0587dave have you studied static contraction training? Do you measure your workouts. I've used the principles in many aspects of my life. When you do the most possible work in the shortest amount of time, you shock your system- as my martial arts instructor would say- and trust me... you will see greater results than doing things the old way. Try it and write your results.
@0587dave I agree the guys don't look impressive but there is a scientific principle behind this, progressive overload. It's the principle we use for all our strength training.
The difference with this is rather than measuring volume with tempo/reps/sets they hold for time and try to get neurological feedback.
I don't necessarily think training strongest range gets best results (sometimes bad leverage is good) but big weights do allow better microloading.
@0587dave Exactly, the white dude claimed he could do a few full reps of 285 pounds.. BULL.. SHIT.. that guy couldn't hold up half the weight of the fat cunt he's sitting with.
Ok listen, if this bullshit was true than people who go around trying to push a house or lift a truck would have the biggest muscles in the world. It's simply bullshit.
Why do you think this guy says 'women are the most to gain from it' BECAUSE it doesn't stimulate muscle growth as much as these guys are toating! It's simply a strength excersise, more like a strength test.
This program goes off a good theory but definately needs tweeking for actual bodybuilding, cuz its not.
Yeah, and fynnu thing is, with so called "static contraction" you're not really contracting. lol. yeah, time under tension does matter, but you have to move weight to create intesinty, not just hold it in your strongest position. I like the comparing to moving a house. so true
@Chaaarge Isometric contractions are still contractions. Muscles do not have to shorten to be exerting force. You also do not have to move weight for a contraction to be intense.
HAHA! Everyone is bitching and complaining how this is BS or a shortcut or any other excuse why your way is better...my own mother tried this for 2 months and was leg pressing 1800 lbs. She's 5' 5", 150 lbs. This works. quit bitching and get to the gym and try it. I do this in between my regular workouts and it has allowed me to lift weight I thought I could NEVER lift. Have a nice day.
its true. this works. when i started weight training 5 years ago i barely got 115. I did this and I was reppin 135 in a month. now 5 years later. I rep 315 on bench. You get immediate results so Try it!!
Your mom have huge muscular thighs too? I doubt it. This is just a strength excercise to SHOW OFF, nothing more..all SHOW - just like steriod guys how fucking IRONIC!
Do you have down syndrome? Big muscles with little strength (roids) is much more for show than small muscles with a lot of strength. As a matter of fact ,smaller muscles with more power are much more practical, they don't take as much energy to sustain.
@eskotwo Muscles that lack force generation are what we call sarcoplasmic hypertrophy. It is mostly just fluid and fluid storage doesn't take a lot of energy to sustain compared to maintaining the higher quality myofibrils associated with strength gains.
About the only valid thing here is that the extra muscle is extra weight to carry around, storing glycogen and water and the like.
Pete wrote an article about why we shouldn't trust "before & after" photos. True. They can easily be faked in many ways. But to use that as a reason why -you- have -no- "B&F's" of -any- of -your- clients is irrational, (especially after you claimed that you were about to post such photos a couple of years ago & never did). -Their- FAKE photos may not be proof, but -your- LACK of photos ALSO ISN'T PROOF.
I believe this will work. But I don't think it's the right way to train. This is a typical approach of More, Bigger, Faster. Especially the last one. Just imagine what you're doing to your body if you need 7 to 10 days to recover. Your nerve system gets its ass kick big time.
Train every day, for 15 to 20 minutes, two exercises tops. Train as heavy as possible and never go to failure. Make sure you have 2 reps in reserve. Eat and DRINK enough, take a hot bath and a relaxed swim now and than.
This's been around a long time: Some genetically advantaged guys must have tried it by now. Yet there are no athletes, teams, strongmen or bodybuilders pointing to it as their workout. After all these years, not even a single decent set of "before & after" photos. It's time to stop blaming "preconcieved notions" for lack of results. Progress from strong range static holds is specific to performing holds themselves, nothing more. Wanna '"bench" 700lbs & still be a skinny-fat slob? Be my guest.
Slight correction: Heavy holds can be used as an ADJUNCT to other training. No successful ahtletes of any kind use it as anything more than a minor ADJUNCT. (I push cars from the shoulder. My arms are fully folded, elbows in ribs, hands at shoulders. What supposed advantage is to be had from extending arms in this circumstance? I think maybe these guys never pushed a car.)
iowabrawler: Cool. At times I have myself(intuitively I guess?)stopped and held weight because it seemed that it would be of some logical value to do that. But I never knew the science of it, it just seemed to make sense to do something that took my workout a bit further. If you can hold more than you can lift then it seemed to me even then, that lifting capabilities were ironically also serving as limits! Informative vids(though clipped). Getting the book today. Appreciate your pos. input!
Thats Pete Siscos sight. Yeah just be patient with everything at first its going to seem kind of odd and un-orthodox for someone who is used to methodical weight training. Its very scientific which is why it makes sense. Before you know it you will feel alot stronger and be able to lift and move day to day stuff with ease.
okay...good... still weird to just leave people hanging. Perhaps you could have made this clearer in your(clipped) description. I never saw a TR video that ended like this, not too sure he would agree with? I have seen a few vid teasers that SAY they are teasers. This does not.
Stuff really works dude. Go to his site or to Barnes and Noble get the book. Its very scientific which is why it makes sense. What I do is I do about two months of PFT(power factor training) and SCT(static contraction training) then I go back to traditional weight training and every time I do I get ALOT STRONGER. This shit will drain the crap out of you and will feel like you got hit by a truck when you are done. Its helped alot in grappling. I throw people around like no other after doing this.
scroogepit: Apparently not...as part two was posted over a month ago. Why would somebody who wants to be taken seriously post two out of three(or more?)parts of an interview??? Goofy.
Sebbbb dont forget you have a nervous system that needs to recover as well, which takes more than 2 days

the biceps has 2 functions. bending the arm and supinating the wrist. you can't get both from a static contraction.
