  • epic xxx

  • @karralm In Deed! > DJ(UNITE)MC - UK.

  • this was where mulligan and o'hare were born.......on the mountan.....

  • Has to be my favourite Inspirals song.......To celebrate our bond......

  • TOP THAT....

  • "Good Night!.... See you at the party! ".

    2011!!

  • Just got the 12" in camden.

  • If you've never been high does this sound still sound cool?

  • bought this track on a double cd inported from china and got Tom to sign the book inside for me...will always cherish it...love you Tom xxx

  • @hibeegirl17 Good catch! I managed to pick up an Greatest Hits signed by Clint Boon in an obscure shop in the lake district, AND I was listening to the Inspirals on my ipod as I walked in. Weird!

Anyway, let's raise our merchandise to them!

  • previous speakers and music lecturers are indeed right, this song along with Golden Brown by Stranglers is as good as it is soothing. Great achievement !

  • One of the best and most underrated songs you are likely to hear.

  • One thing I can guarantee is what you've done means everything to me!

  • damn wot a track just as good now as it was back inda day

  • the mentioned bands may all have been into the fashions etc but the music was a all slightly different. all these bands are top in their own ways.

  • Tom Hingley you were and still are very sexy...2 me at least..love ya xxx

  • in my youth had someone told me what would come and how things would be...

  • remember goin to man united v liverpool match when the inspirals were in the charts, flares and sandles, all the united fans were dressed the same class love the inspirals, fuckin hate scousers lol

  • @robbo151973 big bad man utd came to glasgow 2006, men in black walked down paisley road west attacked any cunt with a rangers scarf on,forward 2 years to 2008,the sons of william invasion of scumchester fukin wrecked your shite hole of a city, rangers UVF on tour, were not thugs were soccer hooligans, stoke city beware

  • this song brings back so many memories for me..loved it..

  • Amazing live , if you could hear them above the skoolies going ''moooo '' constantly

  • waking monday reading saturdays news in a town before.........god thats me lol

  • FUCK!

  • All of this arguing should stop before it gets out of hand. The Roses had Blackpool and Inspirals. Definitely the 2 best live bands of the bunch.

  • Tom and the band are the best.....loved them for 20 yrs and still love them now!!! TOM i love u xxx

  • the carpets were and are still are a top band better than roses charletans my opinion

  • proof of the greatness was G-Mex....still get the goose bumps thinking about it.

  • @creepycraig73 i was at a gig at the g-mex years ogo top night spliff in hand moooooooooooooooooooooooooo class

  • Inspirals music was streets ahead of the Roses, Charletans and Mondays (although all 3 were good bands). They never got the recognition they deserved due to not releasing their best tunes as singles.

  • @jim25shwp .......dude take a moment here please,i agree that the inspirals were and still are an underated band but to say their music was"streets ahead of the roses" is completely crazy, and as for "not releasing their best tunes as singles".....em.....waterfall,i am the resurrection, this is the one, where angels play, tears, how do you sleep,.......need i go on....

  • Fair enough, point taken although I still think the Inspirals were (are) way better, streets ahead was perhaps an exageration. The singles bit was a reference to the Inspiral Carpets, not to the Roses.

  • Inspirals were great but to say that they were streets ahead of the roses? You must be on crack, bro!

  • bearing in mind the mondays and the roses best tunes werent released as singles either,,,,,so to say the carpets were streets ahead for that reason,,is wrong,,,,,, all 3 were kings of theyre time

  • True. roses and mondays got all

    the press. inspirals were BETTER..

  • Comment removed

  • Inspirals were much better.......roses and mondays did get all the radio play but serious music fans like us know where the talent lies........im getting married next year and its inspirals music im having at my wedding........i love tom hingley just as much as i love my man too be lol

  • Like the Inspirals a lot, but i can't agree that they were better than the Roses.

  • Like the Golden Brown bit at 3.38.

  • I had this on vinyl, it had Biggest Mountain, I'll Keep it in Mind and Weakness (aka W.E.A.K.N.E.S.....S!) and I went and sold it FFS. It's my most missed record, even more than all my Stone Roses one's. To me Inspiral Carpets were right up there with the Stone Roses and they were completely under-rated and kind of eclipsed by the Roses. Fucking great band!

  • I've got a couple of 12 inch versions of Island Head, absolute class.

  • fukn classic,,,bring back sum crackn teen memories,, what an era that was,,,,,,been insired by this to purchase a carpets tee off ebay with madchester on the back ,,even tho im getn on a bit ,lol

  • One of my favourites and one of the most under-rated Inspirals tunes.

Apparently they wanted to lead Island Head with "Weakness" and wished they had - this tune is fucking awesome thougha nd the whole EP is class.

I really hope they tour again, have seen them during all their re-unuon tours, as well as twice back in the day - they are simply fantastic live and it takes me and my mates back to those wonderful days of the late 80's early 90's.....Cool as Fuck...

  • Yep, gotta echo your thoughts, The Inspirals were and still are a class live act. I saw em at Ally Pally in the 90s, it was one of those seminal parts of my life caught in time.

  • what you've done means everything to me.

  • reminds me of seeing the guys at south shields many moons ago!!!! Loved it...love them xxx

  • "cool as fuck"

  • This song (8)MEANS EVERYTHING TO ME(8)

  • quite, simply, blinding - thanks

  • AMAZING

  • Class from Island Head EP.

  • love this song , it reminds me of getting drunk and stoned on e lying in the sun in the park ,thx for posting mute

  • This is the carpets best song

  • I wore the "cool as fuck" cow t-shirt on a no school uniform day, and got sent to the deputy headmaster, who was a god bothering sandal wearer, so I apologised like mad.

  • Yip, me too LOL

  • didnt everyone? :)

  • i like inspiral carpets but this is balls

  • es una de las mejores melodias q he escuchado, y eso es decir bastante porque soy fanatico de lo nostalgico y melodioso

  • Good single a bit of a departure from Life which was brilliant.

I remember the music press hated this single but they kept on making classics and reaching the top 20.

  • been a fan since 1989..live utterly amazing..great albums,great singles,great b sides...amazing band....

  • God I was lucky to be in my teens during Madchester.

  • YEAH RUB IT IN WHY DONT YOU!!

    haha

  • Indeed ! Madchester, Indoe Dance then rave ! happy days fondly remembered by this 37 year old !

  • One of the most amazing songs ever composed and written love it, oh and go and listen to the start of commercial rain and then think of oasis think noel needs to aplogise lmao. ? ? ?

  • I walked past the gmex last Sat, even now, 18 years later, I think of THAT gig

  • go ed giley lad,if you could see your wig,ha,buzzin i clocked dis,get bk2me shaun h m/platting,easy

  • The harpsichord solo is legendary!

  • Only the finest carpets are inspiral.

Probably one of my favourite songs by a great band I've followed (not literally - I'm not a stalker... honest) ever since their debut album.

  • Certainly one oof the best songs ever written. Reminds me of very early Genesis, by the way...

  • Como muchas canciones de los Inspiral Carpets.....muy buena!!!!!! Mooo!!!

  • 21 7 90... g mex.. this tune is so atmospheric

and deep.. inspirals will never die. moo!

  • waking monday reading saturdays news in town ive not seen before

  • tom...just incase you might watch this.....i think you are the most gorgeous man ive ever seen......

  • the badgers nadgers

  • one of the greatest bands and this choon is the balls

    love the inspirals!!!

  • Great song, good vid. Love the Carpets man......

  • could be wrong, but the live scenes are from a gig @ the manchester g mex July 1990

  • G-Mex 21.7.90.....a legendary manchester gig

  • yeah it was cheers mate, think James played the g-mex round the same time

  • one of the first ever times i took a E was at a inspiral carpets gig at the reading festival,Still hold it close into my heart as one of the best gigs ever i have been to, and thats saying alot now as im hitting 38

  • 38! still a youngster, still living it at 41, and i aint gonna stop.

  • One of the most awesome bands ever

  • I luv this band.
