I, personally, do not see where he says that unbelievers "can understand the Bible." In my opinion, they are two different things.

Andy, I think you have engaged in distortion and wooden logic. If something is like some other thing (or person) we do not mean those two things are the same, but rather that they share some attribute. You, I, and Bill Clinton are all image bearers of God. We share (in a limited sense) some of God's attributes. Indeed, the only way we can begin to think about God, is by thinking about him in relationship to things we can experience. That is where "like" begins.

First to Andrew: You have misunderstood the point Bahnsen is trying to make.  I think ymeagle and psk6565 are on the right path here.

There are two ways God can be known. First, as Romans 1 makes clear, all men know God through the created order. That is not knowledge that is equivalent to salvation, but simply a recognition that the God of the Bible exists.

Second, there is a knowledge that leads to saving faith. Bahnsen is simply referencing the first type of knowledge.

Romans 1 is absolutely clear that man knows God (as the creator, not as a Father) but they suppress the truth in unrighteousness. You attack these men in your videos that clearly believe biblically that God is known by all men, but they rebel against Him as the Creator.

Position. He fails to understand the teaching of the Holy Spirit in the Word. Romans 1 -3 teach that all know that there is a God. Bahnsen political view (reconstructionism) like his apologetic is grounded in the Bible) But all because an arguement is bible based does not make it valid nor true.

I grew weary of the non sequiturs in your utterances. Note, you need to understand that Romans makes clear that man does not lack right information about God or His law. Man has all the info he needs to obey God (conscience) and worship Him (God's invisible attributes being made manifest). He does not do so because he is fallen and wicked and suppresses these truths in unrighteousness.

Especially the Hawking Van Til voice. -Bahnsen and Van Til are absolutely correct in their exposition, that you have convoluted, of the pervasive Biblical assertion that all men know God inherently. This doesn't disprove your video, (it's not strong enough to warrant a rebuttal,) but it seems to me you seriously lack maturity and crave attention through controversy.

Calvin's Institutes are a great resource for understanding Calvinists, such as Bahnsen and Van til. They also demonstrate the views of the Puritans -- Presbyterian, Congregationalist, and Baptist. I'm hard pressed to consider that there has been a time in Church History where the "seed of religion" or "sense of deity" was denied -- Protestant, Roman Catholic, or Eastern Orthodox. You have me thinking... maybe this is something of the last 2 centuries?

Men do not know God, nor His rule apart from Special Revelation. Sounds like John Locke's Tabula Rasa. Paul's argument is that both Gentiles (Rom.1) and Jews (Rom.2) know God. Therefore, Rom. 3:9. Both need the Messiah.

Romans 1, the nations are so desparately wicked because they've taken

the knowledge of God and pushed it away. Hence the wrath of God being revealed -- God wouldn't punish a bunch of ignorant people .
