  • Is it weird that I think of this song when I'm playing Fable? You can be the God-Emperor/Empress of mankind, but sometimes all you really want is somewhere to come home and rest.

  • There are both great in acting but it's obvious that julie has much much better voice :) althouh audrey is not bad too..I love them both btw :)

  • Julie's voice is incomparable. I think she's overdoing the 'oh's, but the accent's better than Marni Nixon's.

  • I think julie cant play this part I know she's a wonderful talented actress but she had such a warm face and a gentle voice which I think Eliza is not supposed to have that

  • Julie Andrew's voice is absolutely beautiful!

  • Seriously....Audrey was an innocent party in this which is why Andrews and Hepburn remained friends. Jack Warner is the real culprit. Audrey was not happy that her voice was dubbed and almost left the film. If you want to blame someone, blame Warner! And to be honest although Julie had the best voice, Audrey did the better acting. Lets leave Hepburn alone please!

  • Julie has such a distinctive voice that it sounds really strange to hear this song sung by her with the really strong accent.

  • I love how Julie's voice is still so beautiful even when she is singing this song with the accent!

  • Whoop whoop!

  • Nicely done. One thing I do regret is never having had the opportunity to have seen the original stage production with Ms. Andrews.

  • the films singing vocals for audrey hepburn were performed by Marni Nixon, not julie andrews. julie andrews sang in the original stage production

  • i love Audrey and Julie and if Julie would've done this we wouldnt have Mary Poppins

  • The homless don't have a voice over from Julie Andrews...LOL

  • Audrey Hepburn is SO BAD in this film. The fact that she was dubbed in the singing has nothing to do with it. HER ACTING is just APPALLING!!!

  • i wish julie andrews didn't get cheated out of this part. i heard she was suppose to play Eliza, but then they decided to cast hepburn instead. hepburn is awesome too, but come on, no voice can compare to julie's voice!! and plus she was well prepared for the role since she was in the musical already anyways =)

  • Andrews & Hepburn my two favourite people <3

  • It was my understanding that Julie was makiing Mary Poppins at the time and coudl not make MFL

  • Julie Andrews was a no-name that would never carry a role next to Rex Harrison. She sure did fine on her own, but the movie/entertainment industry takes no more chances than a bank!

  • @mykulbee She "carried the role" next to Rex Harrison on Broadway. But you are right aobut the rst of it- Warner didn't want to take any chances on an unknown, although Julie wasn't "unknown- just not a movie star yet. He forgot that they were all "unknowns" once- until someone took a chance on them. Actually, he didn't even want Rex Harrison- he wanted Cary Grant!

  • if the homeless broke out into songs like this, i'd actually give them a lot of money.

  • ''Im a good girl I am!''

    I love Audrey Hepburn ! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

    She had such a talent!:]

  • im doing my exam for grade 3 with this song tomorrow

  • ehh...don't care for this version...not very cockney at all

  • @Tinyoak2 well it is julie andrews singing who speaks perfect english and played a queen for goodness sakes haha so of course it's not going to be as harsh sounding

  • I don't know if I am part of a vocal minority or not, but I really prefer Marni Nixon's version. Julie Andrews does an immensely unconvincing Cockney accent. Also, Audrey/Marni were so much better in My Fair Lady than Julie Andrews (who is also a phenomenal talent) was in Mary Poppins (but Mary Poppins aged poorly for me while My Fair Lady retained her magic). Thank you Jack Warner and Rudy Fehr for bringing us the fantastic talents of Audrey Hepburna and Marni Nixon.

  • This is not the real movie version. This is Julie Andrews voice, but Julie was absolutely not in this movie!

  • Julie Andrews was Eliza on Broadway. The singing voice in the movie belonged to Marni Nixon > imdb.com/name/nm0633262/

  • ah! coupling la Julie with la Audrie! Muchos muchos besos for you, and lots of chocololate, mr or ms luxman 85. gadd. Two SUCH talents. (Nixon too of course!)

Heard on PBS, in interview with Marnie couple years back, the snipped out version of Audrey, who pleaded to at least be allowed this song oh so suited to her musical capabilities. Audrey's was pretty d.g., but, ay! Julie Andrews. Once in every lifetime there should be, for everyone, a Julie Andrews. We got Julie, Marnie and Audry

  • absolutely perfect job! Curiously, I prefer the Nixon dub. But to me, Hepburn remains incomparable in the role and definitely deserved the Oscar that year.

  • @RichardElden You don't deserve to be called a human being

  • this doesnt sound the same as the movie?

  • WTF?

  • julie andrew's version is obviously the best among allll

  • dude i never realized Julie Andrews was in so many movies!! Omg like all the classics i love she's in! She's way to amazing! ^.^

  • @TenTenRox1 Julie Andrews was not in My Fair Lady the movie, that was Audrey Hepburn. Best known for Breakfast at Tiffany's. :) Julie Andrews, according to singingshowtunes, played Eliza on broadway. The youtuber who uploaded this probably swapped the audio for the movie with Julie Andrew's version. Seeing as how many other youtubers noticed that this was not the original. Julie Andrews is talented, but she wasn't in this movie. :)

  • @kakashidemon321 Ah really? I see... Thanks for clearing that up! Either way i still think Julie Andrews is a great actress ^.^

  • @TenTenRox1 No problem!! I totalyl agree, Julie Andrews is awesome!! :D

  • @TenTenRox1 She was in many movies! But not My Fair Lady. She was in the stage version of it and desperately wanted to star in it. But being an unknown in the film business, they cast Audrey Hepburn as Eliza. Instead of My Fair Lady, Julie did Mary Poppins, another one of my favorites:)))))))

  • I like "abso-blooming-lutely" ! :p

  • I thought she was supposed to say "Loverly" ?

  • @visor109 Well, that's what she says, doesn't she ?

  • serious question: what did Hepburn do to get such a bad name? I just dont get it,

    I love them both!

  • @WafflitoTheWaffle I love Audrey as she was a great actress but not the singer the songs needed. So casting a great actress in a singing role when she can't sing is what causes "the bad name" I guess especially when Julie Andrews was right there.

  • @WafflitoTheWaffle i don't think hepburn has a bad name?

  • @WafflitoTheWaffle She was cast over Julie for this. That's why people hate her in this.

  • you nailed it. Julie Andrews has a much better version. The stage versions of musicals aways seem to have better versions for some reason.

  • @RichardElden ok..you dont like her - i get it. but what i dont get is that how can you wish this to someone? are you normal? i dont think so..but..you know what? SCREW YOU!

  • @RichardElden BITCH

  • julie andrews might can sing but audrey is more beautiful and her Eliza was amazing! and the fact, she wasnt nominated for oscar is sad, especially that people were influenced by stupid rumors..it was fair. julie could play this role on stage and audrey got a chance in movie..

  • Julie Andrews offered to sing, but she DIDN'T GET THE PART, epic film anyhow.

  • @TheColdburnMaster Other way round, Warner offered the singing part to Julie but she declined. It was decided her name wasn't big enough for her to appear on screen, so she wouldn't lend her voice if they thought her face wasn't "good enough".

  • @Nat4Brendan ok, im sorry

  • @TheColdburnMaster Haha it's ok, you don't have to apologise. :P

  • It was NOT Julie Andrews singing in the movie, it was Marni Nixon. Look it up.

  • The quality of today's singers and actors in the media is pathetic especially compared to Julie.

  • Juan Macready is a good friend of mine and I will not stand for you besmirching his name allover the place.

  • @lukasewing For what he said about someone who was just doing her job, he kinda deserves it

  • @lukasewing Perhaps your friend should learn to stop being a dick. Maybe then no one would be 'besmirching his name' all over the place. Dude, he is besmirching his own name. He doesn't need our help to do that!

  • @kakashidemon321 Sarcasm, bro

  • @lukasewing Oh, cool then. :)

  • works well!

  • I wached this movie lot of times, and I knew she did not real singer. But I did not know that voice was Julie Andrews!! Her voice and Audrey's acting was good much!

    I love bouth ladys.

  • I love this song and I don't think that anyone could sing it better

  • Yes, it would be loverly.

  • Comment removed

  • SHE WAS NOT! IT IS NOT JULIE ANDREWS! Check IMDB!

  • @NBendtsen read the caption.''Marni Nixon has dubbed Audrey Hepburn in My fair Lady.

Now in this video i used Julie Andrews Voice.''

  • I know how everyone is saying Julie should've gotten the part of Eliza in the film but just think that, if she had, she wouldn't have been Mary Poppins! Both films were filming at the same time.

Also, Hollywood did the same thing to Mary Martin who was Maria in OBC of The Sound of Music when they cast Julie in the film version.

  • @JuanMacready oh look it's you again talking absolute shit and just being vile!! You seem to have an unhealthy amount of hate, might wanna get some help

  • Why can't the homeless break out into song like this?

  • @slaughtz They do, but only in the UK.

  • @slaughtz because if they could break out into song like this, they wouldn't be homeless! they would be rich and famous! :)

  • @slaughtz cause then they wouldnt be homeless

  • @slaughtz well for one these ppl are not homeless, they are poor but not homeless ;)

  • Thanks luxman85, at last I can find the movie of My Fair Lady half bearable!!!

  • it's official: it's impossible for julie andrews to not sound amazing and it's impossible for audrey hepburn to not be gorgeous.

  • audrey begged the director to use her oie which was quite good but not as good as julie andres whose voice as dubbed in

  • i love JULIE ANDREWS. she should get the part. AUDREY HEPBURN SUCKS

  • @lala32027 what retarded comment

  • @JuanMacready you're obviously mentally unhealthy. If you think you're cool or something, you're not, you just seem like a fuckin' wacko.

  • brilliant seeing audreys face and julies singing

  • her voice is so much smoother than marni nixon. it's just so much more soothing. not so painful to the ears. sad that she doesn't have the voice anymore. /;

  • @kulitkid69 That's because she had a problem with her throat. She had an operation and she isn't able to sing anymore. That's what I heard anyway :L

  • @blah96blahblah yea, i know that's why. that happened in the 90s.

  • wow!!kudos to u! that was a pretty good dub but i didnt really like it because juila's voice does not go with audreys beautiful face. it might just because im used to marni nixon singing. thnx tho for posting thhis it was a really interesting idea/.

  • Seeing Audrey's beautiful face, and hearing Julie's gorgeous voice!... pure bliss! Julie Andrews was also gorgeous, but Hepburn made a great Eliza.... :)

  • i really wish i could have seen julie andrews in my fair lady.

  • this is soo loverly

  • i love julie andrews voice ...

could some one do videos like this with scenes from the sound of music..

my favourite things and something good..

  • Very interesting dubbing Julie Andrew's voice. I love her voice! Thanks!

  • They should've used Julie's voice to dub Hepburn instead of Marni Nixon's. Nixon's voice was, to me, airy and the soprano pitch didn't match the song. Compared to Julie's rich and full-throated voice...

  • It's trippy to hear Julie Andrews' voice with Audrey Hepburn's face. I'm so used to the movie. Plus, I saw a video of Julie singing it, so all I see in my mind is her face while she's singing. lol.

  • i love this movie :D her diction is very nice :D

  • buggygirl2010 you are so right about moonriver sang with languid meloncoly just as it was meant to be

  • I LOVE AUDREY.WHAT AN ACTRESS WHEN I WATCH HER FILMS I GET SHIVERS.SHE COULD SING AN ALL JUST WATCH BREAKFAST AT TIFFANYS HER VERSION OF MOON RIVER IS OUTSTANDING.SHE WAS ALSO BEAUTIFUL R.I.P. AUDREY YOU ARE MISSED X

  • I'm GRAHAM Clements...

  • i just love these shows, guess i am getting old , watched it in the fiftys.

  • Though I love Mary Poppins, I wish she would have been cast.

  • Hi All! PLEASE do not waste your time replying to Juan Macready. He is all over YouTube, spewing vile and vicious comments about:

    Dick Van Dyke

    Sally Ann Howes

    Audrey Hepburn

    "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang"

    "Mary Poppins"

There is absolutely NO point in arguing with him. He is a pathetic loser who loves to rain on everyone's parade. He will NOT give up. His statements are all LIES and UNTRUTHS. If you were all smart, you would simply mark everyone of his comments as SPAM. He's not worth your time.

  • @Scott6263 Agreed. So shocked about what he actually said about Audrey Hepburn on this video. I was physically sick when I read it. :L

  • @Scott6263 he can say and do what he wants for youre faulty information. If people want to say something they will do. Thank u!

  • @Poppinsuktour You must be a friend of his. Why else would you defend him? Thank u!

  • @Scott6263

You're missing about half of his bullshit.

He stated that Jeremy Irons is: "An ugly piece of shit with a horrible chain smoker's voice. I hope and pray he gets throat cancer like Michael Douglas."

Then, when talking about Humphrey Bogart, he said: "So glad he died of lung cancer".

Talking about Richard Burton: "He was a stupid talentless racist loser and a wooden film actor. Glad he died at only 58, wish it had been from lung cancer."

    what a fucking troll.

  • @Scott6263 he hates richard burton aswell and he's new account name is "richardelden".

  • Emma Thompson, who is making a remake with Carey Mulligan as Eliza, has said : "I find Audrey Hepburn fantastically twee.Twee is whimsy without wit. It's mimsy-mumsy sweetness without any kind of wit.I don't do Audrey Hepburn.I think that she's a guy thing." What do you think?

  • It sounds like Julie Andrews. I agree Julie would have been good for the voice but Audrey Hepburn was so beautiful, it made the decision for them, I would think. This is in the top five of my favourite musicals and its great to see the comments. I am a Londoner but not this old lol!

  • It really was a shame that they didn't use Julie Andrews. Stupidity in management.

  • Julie and Audrey <3

  • wait did julie sing this i thought it was audrey

  • Such a shame Audrey is dead

  • @JuanMacready audrey she was a great and talented actor - not a singer. it was common practice to dub actors voices in musicals. and why are you such a hater - she never did anything to you. what you give out comes back ten-fold so you better watch out ...

  • @JuanMacready you ass holeish bitch

  • @JuanMacready you ass holeish bitch

  • @JuanMacready Om nom nom nom! TROLL FOOD!!! YUMMY!!!

  • It's loverly.

  • Remembering my carefree days..............nostalgic.

  • You can still hear Julie Andrews in there somewhere. Brilliant!!!

  • @ErchieMcGeakle I can't imagine that someone like you would care one way or the other. Why don't you go watch an episode of South Park or something? The language you seem accustom to communicating with would be better served by South Park or Family Guy to fit your ignorant outlook. The audacity that you would come onto a link where Audrey, Julie or Marni are being discussed seems a little out of the league of someone who would use this kind of language in a public forum. Poor form indeed.

  • @dunamus11 Not to intrude, but Family Guy makes many many references to My Fair Lady and other fine works of literature (as MFL is based on Shaw's Pygmalion). It is interesting how the show is deemed low-brow even though it references many of the classics. Family Guy is much more interesting when one recognizes the references it is making, and not view them as simple randomness (although there is some of that mixed in as well).

  • My Fair Lady; США, 1964

  • I love them both, personally I prefer Julz as Eliza. However, I never understand why people are so adamant about hating Audrey in t'part. She got it, Julie didn't, It was half a decade ago...accept it. Julie has! Audrey hardly made a dogs dinner of the role.

  • Wouldn't it have been loverly just to see how Audrey Hepburn would have done with this if only they'd given her the chance? I guess we'll never know.

  • @karenlynne1122 Actually, on the bonus features of the My Fair Lady DVD, there are clips of Audrey singing Loverly and Show Me. She's not bad, really, she's just no Julie Andrews or Marni Nixon. She was given a chance, but her voice was simply not strong enough for the film. Still, no one can deny that Audrey Hepburn is an extremely talented actress.

  • JuanMacready you don't no what your on about! she is very very good!

  • I am doing this for a performance (just the song) so i looked it up i really think it will help! Thanks for posting this!

  • Andrews singing was absolutely loverly

  • Thanks for this. One can get get very bored with Marnie Nixon's perfect but souless voice.

I undertand that for Julie it was this or Mary Poppins.

  • @JuanMacready You've got some real issues, pal.

  • @JuanMacready that is jsut pure mean! you have issus!!!!

  • @JuanMacready You need to see a shrink

  • I love Oliver Cromwell.

  • @JuanMacready you are just a sick sick person how would you feel if someone said they were glad that you died of cancer?

  • julie andrews is epic. no one beats her!

  • Im singing this song in a comp. soon. Im so excited! Great vid by the way!

  • @05Piano good luck hope all goes well for you

  • Julie Andrews is too much of a lady to sing this song, but she still makes a great job of it :) She originally was given the part of Eliza but they said she wasn't as pretty as audrey so as a consalation prize she got mary poppins. I love audrey but i have so much respect for Julie Andrews. :)x

  • This a perfect example of one of the best songs of all times

    five stars

    11/10

  • that is class both women the best

  • I dont care if its hepburn or andrews there both very good not like these crappy singers today.

  • And, in case of any misunderstanding, I did see that there has been a dubbing in of Julie Andrews's voice here. Very nicely done too.

  • very good

  • I would like to see the text,

    somebody could help me.please?

  • how did they dub this?

  • I think if I am remembering right, they mixed her voice with some one else's? Not sure

  • Great question! This dubbing was handled somewhat differently than the normal process. Here, Audrey Hepburn had pre-recorded the vocal, and had actually filmed the scene lip-synching to her OWN voice. AFTERWARD, Marnie Nixon had to "fill in" the vocals at a looping session. Which meant that Ms. Nixon had to keep the "intention" of Hepburn, match the lip movments AFTER it had been filmed, and concentrate on the song. Normally, actors would lip-synch the recording DURING filming. Tough gig!

  • @macraeman That must indeed have been very difficult for Marni Nixon, dubbing over an already sung film soundtrack. It is very much to Ms Nixon's credit that she managed to do so with such a good result. Quite obviously, from this and her many other fine efforts, providing the singing voice for actors, Marni Nixon is a thorough professional.

Thank you for your very interesting explanation of the process used in this case.

  • i think julie andrews version is MUCH better she has such a perfect voice!! xx

  • I always cry when when I hear Julie Andrews sing...

  • Julie andrews has such perfect diction that she still sound lovely

i wish i could speak like julie andrews

  • @PengWinOne Shes got perfect diction and she talks proper aswell.

  • @PengWinOne r u a vocal teacher

  • @happydaysalexcroston haha. not at all! I just like listening to julie andrews :)

  • @PengWinOne Audrey Hepburn had perfect diction too. So elegant and refined - her voice embodied everything that was wholesome about the European upper class. Audrey could also speak at least 5 languages perfectly - English, French, Italian, Dutch and Flemish.

  • P.S - Most Hollywood actors/actresses, both then and now, are not even bi-lingual. Audrey Hepburn was in a league of her own, artistically, aesthetically AND linguistically. :)

  • @PengWinOne Don't you mean loverly!

  • The casting was OK but Leslie Howard and Wendy Hiller can't be touched.
