By fourtune karate and the other traditional martial arts have two sides, the sport side which is beautiful like here we can see and the selfdefense techniques more focus on street situation and all that stuff! I found very boring doing self defense techniques all the time, it's good to cover all the aspects in a Martial art like karate.
Indeed, Christophe PINNA himself stated not to be convinced of the effectiveness of the kicks in the situations of contact fighting. Sporting karate have the advantage of letting the practitioner give pleasure in his practice by exceeding the framework of the combat for survival and of thus expressing the artistic aspect of martial arts
Christophe Pinna should cross over to the world of full contact karate. It would really be great to se him compete in kyokushin, Ashihara etc but i guess he is too old now.
I think this competitor is exelent cuz it's too dificult to use those kicks in a kumite match, even in taekwondo the fighters fail most of the time, but pinna is very fast and has a lot of control in his techniques.
He started in Taekwondo. His first teacher Claude Jurca began in Yoshinao Nanbu's Sankukai (Shito Ryu) and is now more in Taekwondo than Karate. Christophe Pinna did the inverse. The Taekwondo influence is visible. I met him 3 times and try to understand how he can use technics we usually see only in video game. There is not secret, only work and determination.
This fight was the reason to start again my practice (after 10 years of stop), "it is worth to involve itself hard if it makes possible to reach this level." An incredible fighter with an artist soul. In my own practice I was first only in artistic way and after seeing his performance I understand that the most beautiful technics are made by fighters, not by artistic kata performer, then I push a dojo door and I won 3 years later my black belt in fight way.

De plus savoir bien utiliser ses jambes comme armes les rends d'autant plus efficaces en temps qu'appuis pour l'exécution des techniques de poings...

(that remaining however very difficult in a combat, it is really necessary to be given to do it).
Moreover knowing well to use its legs as weapons make them all the more effective as supports for fists techniques execution ...
