So sad the Poles suffered such terrible losses to Germany and Russia..... yes Russians... they sat and watched the uprising without helping and denied allied forces use of their air bases to help the Poles. A brave people who were screwed over during WW2 and for 50 years more by the Soviets.

It was officially the most damaged city in entire war. If you visit Warsaw today, there is still some grim feeling in the air. The city's soul never recovered completely, unlike the spirit of its inhabitants which is traditionally unbreakable.

Poles are the bravest people on earth, but they weren't lucky at all: falling from Hitler's hands to Stalin's hands , what a desaster !
I allways asked myself why - if the western allies said that they started the war to save the poles - , they abandoned them so easily.
